I was happy to get the reservation. It was my third or forth choice on opentable.com. We had a 7pm show. I didn't mind spending the extra money to celebrate my Mom's birthday. Her first choice was August Henry's. Atmosphere: Wonderful! Service: Fantastic except for one flaw... Food: The oysters were fun and fresh. I recommend them! 3 people got pasta dishes, I was impressed with portions, I tasted some of my girlfriend's, the salmon and artichoke were delicious, but the pasta was boring and a little tough. My Mom got a Steelhead / Swiss chard dinner which she devoured. Everyone said they loved their dish except me. I ordered Monkfish. I have tried Monkfish 3 or 4 times in my life. The first time if was so magical, the other times pale in comparison. I was excited to try it at McCormick & Schmick's, hoping it would be as good as the first time. Please look at the Menu on their website. The offering sounds wonderful with mushrooms and something else. I was brought a perch or flounder with mashed potatoes that were very good, and green beans that were nice. But I was so disappointed with the fish, that I had it wrapped up after only a few bites. Maybe I would be happier if the dish I ordered was brought to me, or if I had realized the mistake right away and corrected it, or if I even said, "I don't want it, just bring me a bowl of soup instead." With the 7pm show, I accepted it, and gave it to me Mom to take home. I'm glad everyone else had a wonderful experience, but I did not.

McCormick and Schmick's downtown is a lively spot in the dining room and bar, especially on a night when there are events in the cultural district or the Penguins are in town. They offer predictable seafood meals, incl fresh fish items, as well as a variety of nice salads and seafood soups. Warm sourdough bread is great. IT can feel a bit chaotic with waiters rushing around, but that is part of the pre-theatre scene. Bring your Landry's card to earn points.

Went to McCormick and Schmick's even though fish is not my favorite, but I can ALWAYS find something there to eat. The Fall Flavors menu had some interesting options and I tried the Miso Seared Scallops on a bed of pureed cauliflower with cauliflower florets. It was absolutely fabulous. The portion was a small size, but perfect. The scallops were delicious and no one ever does cauliflower and it's one of my favorites! What a gem of a dish!!

Restaurant was very nice. We had a reservation and the table was ready when we arrived. Our server was very nice and helpful and was very attentive. Food was good and was a nice variety. I wouldn't necessarily rush back to the restaurant, but it was still delicious for a night out, especially since we had never been before.

My experience was less than satisfying, primarily due to our server. First drink order took 20+ minutes to arrive and then was wrong. Everything seemed very slow.....5:45 pm reservation with an 8:00 pm show and we were almost late!!!! When I mentioned to the manager that service was very weak, his response was, "Sorry." Poor service and then poor customer service....not a winning combination.

I travel all over North America and eat at this chain frequently. This Pittsburgh location's food quality is lower than I experience at other locations. The mussels that I had for an appetizer were very small. Clam like in size. The walnut salad barely had any blue cheese crumbles in it and I had ONE walnut. The broccoli was bright green and looked great, but it was hard and almost raw.

We come here about once every other month. It's our go-to place for a quick, nice, affordable, upscale meal. Our last two visits have been disappointing. This time I requested a booth through Open Table and we were seated at a table - off to the side to which the hostess said "nice and private" but it wasn't at all. We were seated right next to the only other people in the dining area. The food has just been ok. Our server was average - she let me husband's drink run out a couple of times. One new thing we tried was the carrot cake and it was huge and delicious. We will probably reduce our visits to this place and attempt to find a new go-to spot.

We had our drinks and appetizers quickly and they were delicious! Main courses came out quickly and were delicious! It was fabulous evening!

made reservations for dinner but decided to stay in the bar for happy hour as we were going to a concert. bad move! The fish tacos were okay but the ahi tuna was over cooked and the shrimp appetizer was not very good. the waitress agreed about the tuna and took it off of our bill. can't compare to bone fish or even mithcells fish market happy hour. However, the wait staff was very efficient and pleasant.

I have gone to this restaurant for their bar happy hour and it is great. Went twice for lunch and was not impressed either time. Food was average for the price. The first time for lunch, we did not get any bread service. I had the buttermilk fried shrimp--nothing spectacular. The second time, I had the shrimp wrapped kisses for an appetizer and they were good but my lobster bites were fair--not much flavor and not much of them. My lunch companions had the salmon and cod and both said their entrees were good. The only reason I would return is that I am a Landry's member.

I had excellent cashew encrusted tilapia - topped with a fruity sauce that delivered a bit of heat. Wonderful! I had seen the 24.99 price fixe menu on the website so was surprised when I didn't see it on the paper menu at the restaurant. When I asked...the waitress said it might only be at the south side pgh location..not at the downtown location. She checked and said that they could do it. But there should be consistency between the 2 locations as well as consistency of their menu with their on-line version. The one disappointment were the brussel sprouts and potatoes side dish, which for $7.99 was pricey for what we got. 4 of the potatoes wedges were crunch...not edible. We were in a hurry so I couldn't do anything. All else great!

I visited this spot with a small group. We had good service since we were practically the only party at 8 pm on a Friday. Once everyone leaves for an 8 pm show, the place is empty. That is sort of sad. We enjoyed various fish dishes, and one steak eater in the group was happy, too. Desserts were nice, esp a great looking almond crisp cup with strawberries and vanilla mousse. Also nice to use Landry's birthday reward and earn extra points.

My wife had the "Chef's Special", swordfish with Asian pepper sauce; I had the "Sunday special", Surf and Turf. We both had a la carte salads and we shared a dessert. The taste of all food items was excellent. Only issue was the lobster had a grayish color that was a bit off-putting. The wine list was good but on the high side in price compared with other places we dined in Pittsburgh. Our waitress was very helpful and pleasant but seemed to be covering a lot of tables and the service was slow.
