  • Very disappointing in Denver, CO

We were excited about trying the Denver location. However, we were very disappointed in the service and the food. We told the server that our friends were celebrating birthdays, but instead of surprising them with a free dessert at the end of the meal, he said, "Oh, you'll get a free dessert". When we paid the bill, we had a gift card to pay for some of the bill and the server, in front of our friends said, "Oh, you have a gift card?" and then brought the receipt back and said, "I took the money off the gift card." Not necessary. The food was not prepared the way we had ordered it.We do not recommend this location and will not be returning to this location due to the service and food.

We dined at McCormick & Schmick's to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent (especially from the manager, Karen) as was the food, and we received a lot of special attention to deal with a food allergy situation. We will definitely be back as we always have a great experience when eating there.

We went to celebrate a birthday. Ordered drinks but they didn't come to the table until after we finished appetizers. And then they weren't the drinks we had ordered. Apparently the bar had run out of one of the ingredients. The food was good, though, especially the clam chowder.

I got some family together for a dinner with my nephew from NY last week. We brought our 3 year old grandson with us. OUr reservation was for 6:30 and we received our dinner at 8:00 PM. When our food arrived - prompted by a visit to the manager on duty - the order was not correct. My wife was close to getting her order to go since we needed to drop my grandson off at his parents by 8:30 and they live on the other side of Denver. Despite the fact that the manager reduced our bill - by that time our dinner had been ruined. This was not expected at what was supposed to be a quality restaurant!

We ended up eating at a high top table in the bar area due to lack of good seating in the dining room. The food was wonderful, served by a knowledgeable service person. He wasn't overly friendly and I felt like I was bothering him at times. He however, was timely with everything, after the delayed initial table greeting. I will go back and will recommend McCormick & Schmick's as a great place to eat.

McCormick & Schmick's is always dependable for tasty fish and seafood. From the calamari starter to the grilled and broiled main courses, the preparations and presentations were excellent. The wine list is rather shallow, but excellent pairings could be found for everyone at the table. Desserts are uninspired, but we don't go there for the creme brûlée. The air in Denver is cooler now in the evening, but the patio would have been inviting had we come in mid-August. The dining room was quiet, even though most tables were filled (good acoustics). Overall, a very enjoyable evening.

We went for a late lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. After many visits to McCormick and Schmick's, this was the first time we've had the mussels and they were great! We definitely will have them again and recommend them. We also had the crab and mango tower which was excellent. We both thought our shrimp salads (each different) were very good.

Loved the meal we had here during DRW. For the $30 menu, I had a full sized salad, and a lobster tail/steak medallions with veggies as my main course. The lobster tail was out of this world. I was impressed that the restaurant did not scrimp on the amount of food served during this promotion. The dessert was a delicious flourless chocolate torte, which I loved. The only glitch was that the restaurant ran out of blue cheese for the salad, but both the waitress and the hostess stopped by our table to check and see if it would be OK to substitute goat cheese for it. This was a nice touch and the service was very efficient and friendly. We will definitely be going back!

We had planned to celebrate a personal occasion for some time at M&S and we're pretty excited about it considering my visit to one in Houston, Tx. We ordered drinks and they came out wrong. Ordered the $30 swordfish and it was very, very dry and overcooked. She swapped our drink out and just said sorry about the fish. The other.entree was great and a lot less expensive. Just disappointed all the way around sadly. For $100 You expect better, I do anyway...

Save yourself some money, you can get pretty much the same quality seafood at Red Lobster. While my wife enjoyed her Lobster Bisque, and her Shrimp mac n cheese, my mixed grill left a lot to be desired. I substituted a Crab cake for the Salmon on the menu for a $4.00 up charge, and it was over grilled on one side and I've had much better crab cakes. The stuffing in the stuffed shrimp was the same as the crab cake and not what Id expect from an expensive seafood place. Decent but not good. The grilled shrimp had been on the grill to long on one side also. The best part was the Scallops, problem was they only served one and a half of them and they weren't what I would call large. Not worth the cost in my opinion.

They seated us immediately, but didn't note that our reservation was thru Open Table, so had to go through the hassle of Open Table emailing me as a no show. The table service was very good, but the food was surprisingly poor. It was pretty tasteless. For so few seafood restaurants in Denver, they need to beef up the seasoning of their accompaniments, their sauces and if they're breading fish for baking, frying - add some flavor. We were very disappointed in the food. The people that work there were very personable and welcoming.

I met with 4 other girlfriends for lunch at McCormick & Schmick's -- made a reservation on line, and requested one of their 'snug' dining areas. My request was handled exactly as requested and we had the perfect table, tucked away from the rest of the busy restaurant. Our wait person was Sara and she made sure we were well taken care of. The food was delicious and making a decision from among all the yummy choices was the only difficult part. We had a wonderful time and we all agree, this is one of our favorite places for lunch and we will come again soon.

I never learn my lesson - don't order seafood in Denver. My date and I had the tuna which was horribly overcooked and dry to the point of inedible. Then we ordered dessert which was an upside down apple pie. The crust was soggy and uncooked and overall it just wasn't that good. It was my first time at the restaurant and I can say for certain that McCormick & Schmick's won't be on my places to dine list in the future.
