  • "Third visit to this restaurant, second with my staff of five. From the moment we walked in, staff was courteous, attentive and created a wonderful experience. Antoine, our waiter, was superb, quietly and consistently attentive. Food was great, and sadly more than we could finish. Being on a business trip, boxing the excess to enjoy later was not a possibility. When and if we return to Crystal City on business, you can be sure that we will be dinnering once again at McC and S!"

  • "After watching plates of food go by while we waited to order, I decided to go with something simple and easy and ordered fish and chips. The fish was a overcooked and and the chips were soggy. My husband ordered a filet mignon which looked good. it is a seafood restaurant by the way. Since I didn't eat my dinner I went for broke on dessert and ordered the Heath Bar Brownie with vanilla ice cream. The hot brownie had melted the ice cream by the time I got it and the whole thing was tough. It was huge but not very good. We had started our meal with a dozen oysters on the half shell. Half of them were gritty. We were disapppointed in this restaurant since we had enjoyed McCormick & Schimck in Portland years ago, and McCormick and Kuleto on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco recently."

  • "The ambiance and service were very good. The hostess was prompt, welcoming and showed us to our table quickly and professionally. The server was attentive without being pushy. The food however, was very poor quality. Scallops were overcooked, and the crab cake beneath the scallops tasted like refrigeration. The dessert was the saving grace. The apple pie w/ cinnamon ice cream was delicious without being overly sweet."

  • "The overall meal was very good. However, the bread that was served was extremely chewy to the point at which the crust was leathery. We did not finish it. The stuffed shrimp was tasty and not over cooked. The pecan crested fish was very good."

  • "We had looked forward to a fun adult family dinner. Sadly service was VERY poor. Drinks arrived slowly as did appetizers- then a table of 8-10 was seated near us and our waiter basically disappeared. After waiting 45 minutes for our dinners- we approached both the waiter and the maître d- who btw confirmed we had waited TWICE as long as their typical 24 minute turnaround . A wonderful and very competent waitress was reassigned to us- but frankly by then it was 9PM, our dinners clearly had been sitting awhile- my fish was very dry. The manager and waitress did their best to apologize and make things right- I think they clomped our appetizers. It was just too late to redeem our evening,especiallys since we had very early meetings the next day. We chose M&S bc of prior good experiences in other cities"

  • "I have ate at this restaurant many times, am a Landry Priority member, but the service was terrible on 11/11. The hostess was on the phone and made us wait 3 or 4 minutes and never acknowledged us. I had an Open Table reservation. Then, the waiter was worst. All the other patrons had bread, he never offered to bring any until I asked and was 3/4 through my lunch. The waiter was extremely unattentive, distracted and just plain bad. He did not understand the Landry Priority card system and shrugged me off when I asked if I had any points. Finally, the manager came over and made the visit more enjoyable. I told her she should never have this hostess or waiter on a holiday or any other time in this restaurant."

A friend asked about steaks on menu (she has shellfish allergies), the waiter's response was (paraphrased) 'you're better off going to Morton's for steaks, they're our sister company'. Sister company or not, the waiter should not have suggested to go to another restaurant to dine after being seated with reservations. Also at 6 p.m. we were given the lunch menu (unbeknownst to us) when we placed our orders. The waiter didn't know either until he came back with the dinner menu, doubled pricing which would not have been a "shock" to see the comparison if we started with the right menus."

  • "As a proud Vietnam Vet & being from out of town to have such a nice restaurant offer free meals to veterans on Veterans Day help make my visit to DC nicer. I showed up an early for my reservation and they accommodated me no problem. My waitress was exceptional and very pleasant. The manager Adam came by my table and thanked me for my service and explained that this was his 5th year working there and it has always been a special day for him. GOOD FOOD FRIENDLY STAFF"

Our waitress was delightful and very engaging with the specials and the special needs of a guest in my party's Gluten Free needs. The specialized Gluten Free Menu was limited, so she caringly inquired with the kitchen on a couple additional options which delighted my guest. The menu choices were so inviting, I ended up with a People's Bag. The food was very well prepared, the ambiance inviting, the staff personable, which made the overall lunch very enjoyable and worth repeating.   • "Our group of eight (including two kids) picked this spot to celebrate a family member completing the Marine Corps Marathon earlier that day. The ambiance was excellent and our service was very nice. The biggest complaint I had was the spacing of receipt of our food. We made an early (5:45) dinner reservation because of the kids and the restaurant was not busy when we first arrived. Though we were hardly in a hurry, we waited no less than 10-15 minutes between courses (everyone ordered off the prix fixe menu). Most ordered the beef tenderloin, cooked very well - the shrimp scampi was a bit well done and needed to be salted and the tilapia was okay. In the future, may look elsewhere in this price range but would consider returning."

I have eaten multiple times at McCormick and Schmicks in multiple cities. this is second time of having a poorly prepared meal at this outlet. it seemed more manufactured on a faculty production line than carefully prepared. In contrast, Seattle, Washington DC, and Portland M and S experiences have been top notch."

  • "I dined here with a large group and then with a party of 2 during my conference stay in Arlington. Both experiences were very good and enjoyable. Although a chain restaurant the food was excellent and we especially enjoyed the fall seasonal menu -- the pecan crusted catfish was great! The mixed greens salad was pretty uneventful but the apple pie dessert was fabulous. Their speciality cocktails on both occasions provided a fun and festive start to our meals. I returned so clearly we had a good experience and I would recommend this to travelers and locals. A good value and good experience. We had a toddler in our large group and our server was very accomodating and helpful."

  • "We visit the area often and dine at this restaurant often. This visit was just bizzare: 1. Drinks - the waiter recommended a local brewery (IPA). Oops - they are out. Not big deal, we pick another beer. 2. The meal - Wahoo, sword fish and chicken. Oops - no wahoo nor sordwish. No big deal, we order different fish. 3. The chicken comes out - half the usual portion - not larger than 2" by 3" 4. We starting to complain - the manager, agrees it's a small portion and brings a second chicken portion of the same size. 5. Desert - plain vanila ice cream and bread pudding with ice cream. Oops, no vanila ice cream. The cheff comes out and takes full responsibility. The check is being delivered - full price. Again - very dissaponting."

  • "Thankful we made reservations-it was full. We were greeted & seated promptly. Our server came by and got our drinks (mine was plain water;my husband got the peppery bloody mary). We ordered the Shrimp Kisses, and they were by far the BEST thing we had that night. After we ordered entrees (Shrimp Trilogy & Filet & Stuffed shrimp), we waited a good 1/2 hour to get food. Our server dropped off the food, and also dropped off for the rest of the evening. My water glass did not get re-filled the whole evening, even though that was the only drink I had. My entree was good, but my husband's was sub-par: the filet was tender enough, but it was only room temperature warm. Server was not around to let him know. Highly disappointed."

If you are seated in the area we were in, be prepared to be asked to leave your seat in mid-bite to allow patrons and servers to move around. A very good menu with 'seasonal' dishes. A below average dining experience because we had to do calisthenics to accommodate other diners and servers."
