Diner Reviews
  • "This is the first time dining at Schmick's since the were sold to Landry's, Inc. The food was good. We unfortunately had a brand new, very inexperienced person taking care of us. But the restaurant was not the same as the Schmick's of old - no "daily" features, no custom menus, no polish. It truly was like an expensive Landry's with an over-priced wine list and upscale furnishings. For a $160 dinner (salads, entrees, wine only) for 2, I expected the old Schmick's level of polish and not just good food."

  • "I love M&S. The food is always fantastic and the service is top tier. The lunch prices are in line with an upscale dining experience. The Lobster Cobb salad is one of the best items on the menu. If you order the salad, be sure to request the chef to go a little light on the dressing. It's amazing but could be a little less wet. The environment is wonderful for hosting business meetings during the day and then for dinner with a special guest at night. My wife and I have dined at M&S for special occasions in the past and have been very happy with the experience."

  • "The food was awesome. The manager Adam was very polite and asked how we was doing. The server wasn't attentive we had to ask for bread for the table and ask for menus. The birthday boy asked for sauce for his steak and she recommend Worcester sauce and never brought it. He had a great time just not happy with server."

  • "Mediocre seafood that has sunk to the level of Red Lobster but prices remain much higher. this used to be a favorite but I won't be gong back anytime soon."

  • "Where to begin? Had seared ahi. SIMPLE AND SEARED. It arrived with a chipotle rub on the outside (never mentioned in menu). I had to cut it away as the waiter was SO bad that I was afraid I might never get my meal...or worse. Oh wait, perhaps it was applying the rub that took our meal more than 40 minutes to arrive. Had oysters as app: meh. And the waiter never described which were which..... The waiter. Had to ask for everything. Took forever to anything, including refill on tea. Didn't even fill water glasses the entire time we were at the table. Please train your employees the basic skills. VERY DISAPPOINTING"

  • "Since we went on a weekday, we took advantage of the 3 course fixed price dinner. We both got the salad with walnuts and blue cheese and it was a very nice choice. Fresh and tasty with a light dressing. My main was the beef medallions and shrimp. It came with vegetables that were a bit overcooked for my liking. The molten chocolate cake was a nice dessert with the portion not being too large and refreshing ice cream on top. My dining partner's creme brule was a very tasty treat as well."

  • "I think I'm done with M&S. Service was good but their food is always very average. Very average! It's a chain restaurant that really taste like a chain."

  • "Good place for seafood. The seafood is fresh and well prepared. The sides are excellent and something I would find daunting to prepare at home. Easy parking in the bldg. They got us in on time and out in time for our Kennedy Center tickets."

  • "Been to McCormick and Schmick's many times and we are part of their rewards program. Received an email with an Independance Day Special...steak and lobster with salad and desert for a reasonable price. When I showed the waitress she said she knew nothing about the special asked the manager and he said they didn't honor this offer. I was quite dissapointed so the waitress asked the manager again and he said he would honor it this time. Do I need to call and ask if they honor their own specials?"

  • "we were seated away from the bar but the drinks and beer came frosty cold and fresh. The bread was warm the salad crisp and not drenched in dressing, the entree's were served as ordered and our server(oksana) was very pleasant and prompt. what more could you ask for"

  • "We arrived at the restaurant earlier than expected, but no problem we were immediately seated. A waiter came right over to us. Overall experience was great. Very friendly and the food came out really fast. We will be coming back to this location. Thank you for the great food and service."

  • "We've been to this M&S location a handful of times now, and generally service is outstanding, but the last visit was less than what we expected. It took almost a half hour to get a second round of drinks, after dinner was already served, and the manager walked by our table a number of times without saying a word... even when we tried to get his attention since our server was MIA for quite some time. Generally this is a top recommendation from us but not this time."

  • "The restaurant's design is comfortable, with adequate room between tables. I got lost walking to the restaurant, and was 15 min. late, but seated without comment. Fine waiter. The oysters on half-shell were pristine, cold, and glistening, also well selected. Wine list was good, with variety. My entree, black mussels, cooked with Thai curry and peppers, was delicious. Spicy, but not overwhelming the mussels. Large serving, a great value. I took the waiters recommendation for dessert, chocolate mousse cake, and was pleased. Because of ambiance it would be my choice of two good seafood restaurants in the Crystal City area."

  • "Food was great. Server informative but I judge service based on refilling my coffee and water. I had to ask for each. Our bill had a suggested gratuity of 18 percent. Which was 21.77. We gave a 20 dollar tip in cash but she came back and said she needed the other 1.77. If its suggested then why wasn't she happy with the 20?"

  • "My partner and I frequent Landry's restaurants often, and M&S is definitely our favorite. Due to a last minute schedule debacle, our graduation party was moved from the DC (F Street) location to the Crystal City spot, and it was well worth the change. Our server, Cameron, was outstanding - attentive but not overbearing and quick with recommendations for my parents who had never been. This location is a bit more cramped than either DC location, but the service made all the difference. Highly recommended."

  • "We have been to McCormicks in Boston many times, one our favorite restaurants. We were promplty seated and our waitress was lovely. Lemon drop martinis were fantastic! This location was disappointing. $30 something for a piece of halibut 2 inches wide and 5 inces long. The side of orzo & grilled vegetables consisted of half vegetables that were not cooked and the other half had been cooked 5 times over and to top it off they threw some cheddar on it and melted it so when it came out to me it was a mass of hardened cheese . My crab cocktail was ok, accompanied by unripe mango and avacado. Everyone restaurant has off moments. We will stick to the Boston locations which we have had many good experiences at."

  • "Party of four, three meals came out of the kitchen. Meal number four came out 15 minutes later. Manager and server were very apologetic. This was the second time something like this has happened at this restaurant for our group which meets monthly. Very disappointing. Manager was very apologetic, but this dining experience was very unsat. Moving to a new location for our monthly meeting now."

  • "I was very pleased with the prices, the food, the service and everything about the restaurant. It was my first and definitely won't be my last. I heard they have a great happy hour so I will definitely have to check that out!"

  • "Loved the food, and service. I think it's a great place for lunch with colleagues. I got a booth, which I thought was just perfect for some good work conversations without too much lunch madness around, as is quite the norm at most other lunch places in the area."

  • "Food presentation was great but the food was not up to the standards of McCormick & Schmick's. The soup was to salty, the roasted potatoes were extremely under cooked, the lobster tail/shrimps were chewy & the steak was tough. Moreover, instructions were given to the waiter that one of the guest in our party had a severe onion allergy-no onions cooked or raw could be on her plate. He said no problem, however the food arrived with large slices of onions in the roasted potato dish. The manager stopped by our table and listen to our concerns and said he would apprise the kitchen regarding our issues. The manager never returned with a resolution to our concerns. Our guest were from out-of-town and never heard of McCormick & Schmick's."

  • "Up until now, I've always avoided ordering halibut dishes. I grew up watching my father eating fillets of halibut (often frozen). It was so dry, it could pass for jerky. He actually preferred it that way. This night halibut was on the menu and because I miss my father so much (passed away in 2009), I decided to order it. It came with rice and a medley of summer veggies. I was glad to find that it was just the opposite of what I remembered my father having....it was moist, light and flavorful! I ate every bite with a smile remembering times with my father."

  • "We had a very pleasant evening, my partner and I, dining at McCormick & Schmick's Seafood. We've been there before but with larger groups. We had an attentive waiter, food was very good, and, to our surprise on a Saturday night, it was not real crowded and therefore not too noisy. We would certainly go back."

  • "I ate at this M&S twice month when I worked I the neighborhood. I was shocked to see its current state. Gone are the daily menus listing the fresh seafood and the source location. They have been replaced with well worn dirty menus with $40 fish entrees. Gone is the very professional wait staffs. Now the youthful staff are there to service tourists and show no concern when your cocktail has yet to arrive after twenty minutes. And gone were we never to return."

  • "We asked for a boot and were seated in a private area; not a booth but very secluded and nice. My wife ordered the scallops, which were very good. Our waitress Jessica (a Brit) said the fish and chips were unlike Britain's, but I chose to order anyway. I was disappointed; the fries were a bit soggy and not crispy. Edible but not great. What made our night totally worthwhile was the discussions we had with Jessica. She is a sweetie and you will be very well served if you ask for her!"

  • "Had a reservation for 5 people, waited at front door for more than 10 minutes as others who arrived after and did not have reservation were seated after us. I was told by the hosting staff, which looked like they did not know what they were doing, that it would take time to set up a table for five, even though they sat a table for more people ahead of us. Finally, they showed us to the table only to find that the table they worked so long to set up, was a standard four top table with the leaves folded out, something that takes less than 10 minutes. Table service was good, appetizers were good, however the entrees were underwhelming and overpriced. The portions for the entrees were very small, as were the flavors. Would not come back."

  • "Lunch on Monday, May 12th with two associates. When the GM comes to the table to welcome you to the establishment, you hope things are going to be good. Hostess sat us expeditiously at table and our server came right over for drinks. She did not know if the Salmon lunch special was farmed or wild and she said wild. She returned to the table after I ordered to say it was farmed. At least she cared enough to tell me the truth. I asked for tobasco sauce for my Maryland Crab Soup and it she brought after I was half done. The soup was very good with a big clump of Maryland (I hope) crab in the middle of the soup. The Salmon was served in a long dish - very nice presentation - but was chopped up like it came from a can (I hope not). "

  • "Our server Donna was rude and she messed up our order. She didn't write anything down and when we asked her what the sides were she told us string beans and mashed potatoes but we were served broccoli. Very disappointed for the price we paid and the food we received. Our shrimp was burnt as well and my mother ordered a wedge salad that came out with her dinner and there was no bacon or tomatoes on it. It was a wedge of lettuce with blue cheese and ranch on the side. At one point Donna was so rude to say "My name is Donna" when we said excuse me maam trying to get her attention. We called her by her name at first and she didn't respond. "

  • " I felt rushed the entire time. It was Mother's Day, so I imagine that they wanted to get people in and out. As soon as the waitress came to the ta le, she asked were we ready to order; the food came out literally 10 minutes after the appetizer; the second we were finished with our meals she was reaching for our plates asking to take them without giving us time to say "yes or no". While I can appreciate speedy service, this was too fast. It was my first time at this location (usually go to downtown DC or National Harbor), and it was very nice. We sat in a "semi-private" area for four. The table was surrounded by 3 walls and a retractable curtain at the front. The food was GREAT! Salmon could've been more seasoned, but still great."

  • "Party of 4, seated promptly, greeted nicely, received food swiftly. One problem, my sister found a huge piece of plastic in her food, she informed the server who was less than apologetic, she informed a manager who came over and stated "so you found a piece of hair or something in your food". So he was either misinformed, or could care less, assuming the consumer was trying to get over on the restaurant. The plastic was clearly cooked in with the food. He offered a free dessert as a consolation prize for the choking and health hazard. To me this seemed a small gesture that did not sit well with me, especially when my family member could have choked on a piece of plastic."

  • "3 of our party had the Crab-cake Benedict. The Crab cakes were very good but the eggs were over done. It appeared they had been prepared for a longer period of time than necessary. The other member had the Alaskan Halibut and it, as most of their fish dishes, was outstanding. Not as good as we have experienced in the past at this location."
