  • "I was a real fan of McC & S before Landry's took over. The menu changed, and the service has become troublesome. Last night was another problem. After the server, who was trying hard to be charming, kept trying to recommend additional or different items, he took our order and accurately repeated it. However, something different was delivered for two of us, at a higher price. The food was good and the service friendly. The manager even came by and asked how we were doing. (I told him.) They offered to substitute our original order but not to charge us the correct price. Eager to get away from the noise, we ate what had been delivered."

  • "True to the brand, my experience was of high quality. I dined early (5:45 PM) and was dining alone at the end of a business trip. The service was very prompt, and, though I was not rushed in any way, I was complete with the meal and on my way in just over 30 minutes. My choice was crab cakes, a local favorite, and I was not disappointed. The crab cakes carried ample, succulent crab meat. My server was attentive, but not over-bearing. This particular example of the chain lacks some of the special ambiance provided by its K Street cousin in the District (e.g. the semi-private dining areas) but is a reliable, high quality choice. The vive is energetic but seating is well enough separated for comfortable conversation."

It's clear that they were driving the employees to do this. if you are a tourist I would recommend you go go to downtown Alexandria walk amongst restaurants there."

  • "Once upon a time McCormick and Schmick's had cachet, then it slipped to being a good place for a business dinner with decent, well-prepared food. But my experience at the Crystal City branch reached a new low. Table was fine and location in the recent was OK, although every time someone came in the main door we had a cold draft around our feet. Menu was interesting but a lot of places do better these days, and salads good. But the service for the main course was very poor, with main dishes plonked down before we had finished our salads, and staff leaning over the table across other guests."

  • "One expects a certain level of cuisine at M & S's but this one is way below par. The scallops were undistinguished, had little flavor, and were served atop a "potato and crab hash" that was greasy and smooshy. Some spinach was tossed haphazardly over the hash. Presentation counts, folks! also salt (too much). We were surprised. Also the wines were way overpriced, markups 400 percent in some cases. A 100 percent markup is plenty."

  • "What a gret comeback story. My wife and I were invited to retrun to M&S by the GM John Ingles. We had a complaint about the service and he made sure we remained loyal M&S patrons by showing us the level of service we have come to expect. The food was always fantastic but as anyone knows its not always the food that can turn you off. Our waitress (Karmin) was so friendly and cheeful it made our night very relaxed. The Chef delivered the main courcse along with Mark (the initial MGR that irked me) even participated with three table visits. A little awkward interacting after having such harsh critique but still the effort was noticed and appreciated. Thank you to John and his staff...we are once again very big supporters of M&S."

  • "Went for VDAY as I have gone for years. Service was bad, Hostess and Manager had terrible attitudes. Not sure what was going on as I usually always have a great experience at this location. Requested in advance the private booth with curtain which I did not get again this year. Requested specialized menu in advance which I was only given after they kept attempting to seat us in unpleasant table seating when several booths were clear."

  • "The night started out ok, we ordered drinks and discovered that they were OUT of ginger-ale, not sure how you have a bar and totally run out of ginger-ale. Never the less we had Antwan (sp?) as our server and although I think he tried his best to be a GREAT waiter, not sure where the disconnect was. The restaurant apparently ran out of there normal sour dough bread and we were reduced to four small sized round rolls to share amongst a table of six. They ran out of rainbow trout so we had to order a different kind of trout. The kids menu mac an cheese was something other than -- it was just that MAC and CHEESE, not sure what how else to describe it the night was just a multitude of hiccups and mistakes. There aren't enough characters!"

  • "This restaurant has a wonderful happy hour menu at good prices. However, their dinner menu is moderate to expensive in price. For the price, I expected a dish that would be out of the ordinary. I did not receive such a dish. I was disappointed in the quality of the food. They did have a good wine list, and they had my favorite wine/vineyard priced by the glass. I might give them another try. But for this visit, I was disappointed."

  • "Our waiters Luis couldn’t have been better and saved us from walking out and spreading the word to EVERYONE I contact that M&S in Arlington was not a place I liked to go. Luis was the best waiter and his demeanor made the insulting attitude from Mark kinda fade. I wrestled with letting this go but in my opinion Mark will cost M&S more business with his uptight and abrasive approach to requests he would rather not deal with than he will ever bring into that establishment. I am far removed from the “fire that guy” mentality but rather want a beautiful place like yours to thrive. He needs to understand persons like me go to M&S to feel more refined and feel a sense of professional decorum from the staff."

Slow paced, wrong dishes served, server could not remember who ordered which meal, & thumbs all over the plate. Just not what one would expect from a traditional M&S's.   • "I've eaten at this restaurant many times before with business colleagues. On this visit, our food took an extraordinarily long time to make it to our table. The manager did make it a point to tell us that one of our entree's had been overcooked, so he had the kitchen make up three fresh orders. The manager showed up at our table about five minutes after we heard a very loud crash of plates hitting the floor just outside the kitchen. Wonder if my blackened tuna was overcooked when it hit the floor at mach 1.2? It was nice of the manager to tell us why the food was late, but this has never happened at this restaurant before. I will, however, still go back. The servers are top notch, and the food is generally very well prepared."

  • "We often visit McCormick & Schmick's as we live in the neighbor. We have found the bar service and bartender's are very slow and not the friendliest. We decided this time to have dinner in the restaurant side, we were pleasantly surprised how friendly and efficient our waitress was, she was awesome! Sure it took a long time to get our bottle of wine, but we expected it as we have seen the bar service. We will be back to the restaurant and stay out of the bar."

  • "the atmosphere was great however, there were a few issues with the service. The hostess was extremely rude to my wife and I thought it inappropriate to chew gum while greeting guests. She also gossiped to another employee about my wife right in front of her. My waitress polite but very loud. ghe food was delicious, but there was a hair in my wife's food. The manager gave us a complimentary dessert and apologized, so I plan to visit the Virginia Beach location for a second try and hope for a better showing of customer service."

  • "My boyfriend and I dined here on Valentines day. The food was very good but our waiter was rude. When we asked him questions he rolled his eyes and acted like we knew the menu. We got our bill at the end of dinner,and I asked him for some change. The bill was 108. I put down $120. His response was its only 12.00. He was Very rude. If I ever go back to that location and I get him back again . I will definitely ask for another waiter."

  • "We had high hopes for our romantic night out....... they let us down, Big Time! We were sat infront of a drafty fire exit door. The server was terrible. Had to ask for water refills and bread. No salt/ pepper, no candle, Everyone in our section was dissapointed in the quality of the service. The wait times were excessive and the quality was poor. The staff was overwhelmed and under prepared. I would not recommend this restaurant ........ over priced, loud and terrible service. Definitely not worth the money."

  • "This was my first time to McCormick & Schmick's and I decided to bring my boyfriend here for his birthday since we were staying at a nearby hotel. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the waiter was very pleasant, however we were unhappy with the food service. My boyfriends food had to be replaced twice for being undercooked. He finally ended up ordering a different dish because the one he wanted wasn't being cooked properly."

  • "The 30 fresh seafood varieties are prepared perfectly either simply or sauced. Sides, steaks and deserts are excellent. The wine list is brief with good selection and value. Tends to be crowded on weeknights. Bar is accessible and comfortable for dining. Restaurant hosts gatherings, business conversation, special occasions or quiet dining. Street view is nothing special. Convenient to hotels and Crystal City business. A sure dinner with quality and exceptional service. Servers know dishes, wines and specials and are intelligent, informed and pleasant. Restaurant management, maitre d' and staff are excellent."

  • "McCormick's has good service and great food but they need better descriptions on their menu. The salads just say "chopped salad." What does that mean? The server did not give an adequate description. The item was completely different that expected and more a "slaw" than salad. Also the calamari appetizer also had jalepenos and deep fried lemons. OK, please include that in the description. They also didn't come back frequently and the bar was so loud that we couldn't hear our own conversation yet we were in the restaurant. Again, normally this is a very good restaurant but there needs to be improvement."

  • "It was my wife's birthday and I wanted to take my family to out to celebrate. I personally know this chain restaurant by eating at the DC harbor one, the Tyson Corner and Fair fax locations. I have never been disappointed in the selection of food or its quality. There are two things that I weren't to pleased about at the crystal city location. First: the dining area was very tight. You had to be mindful in getting up from your table. If not your chair would knock into the chair behind you. second: I know DC has been experiencing some really cold weather lately but there was a cold draft under the table. So our feet were a little cold. other than those two minie problems we had a great time."
