Diner Reviews
  • "We were seated and ordered an appetizer of 6 oysters. After about 10mins the server came back and said they were running behind on the oysters. No big deal. 10 mins later he brings out the oysters and there's 11 of them. We try to look for the guy for about 5 mins and then decided to start eating them before they warm up. Eventually another employee comes out looks our table and then walks back to the back and proceeds to complain loudly, "Who the F@$& eats a dozen oysters when you order 6?!" Our server then comes out and asks if there was a mix up at our table. He says not to worry and to finish the extra oysters. The rest of the night went well except they forgot the strawberry salsa on my chef special. Our server was great and fixed it."

  • "Went there on a Saturday night. Restaurant was nearly empty. My wife's dinner was cold, when she asked to have it heated up is was brought back cold again. So we essentially dined separately. Felt like it was a Red Lobster dinner at twice the price."

  • "I had the halibut with vegetable orzo, SO DELICIOUS! My son had steak and lobster three-course dinner with Caesar salad and apple pie ala mode--all wonderful! I also had clam chowder--best in Columbus! My husband had mussels and special tomato salad, everything was perfect! We Love this restaurant!"

  • "Wife and I were looking for a moderately-priced, high-quality restaurant for our Fourth of July dinner, and decided on McCormick & Schmick's at Easton Town Center. We have been there many times before, always found it satisfactory, and this visit was no exception. We especially enjoy the wide variety of menu choices and the great service."

  • "We have had many of holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. but last night for our grandson's 17th birthday the dinner was HORRIBLE!!!!! We weren't the only ones, people were walking out, manager had to give free meals, etc. The wait time was bad and then the food was bad and one meal had to be sent back TWICE and when it finally came out ok the rest of us had most of had most of our dinners eaten. I hope this isn't becoming a trend because at this point I can think of a lot of other resturaunts that would welcome our $500. to you but it is to us when we bring our family for a good meal and it stinks!!!"

  • "The food was not great. They were out of tomatoes and lobsters. A steak served with asparagus came with three pathetic tiny, old, overcooked spears. The food presentation on the plate would have been subpar for Dennys. This restaurant gives every appearance of one trying to use up their remaining food in preparation for closing that location."

  • "Food was average at best. Restaurant was empty they were out of about 5 different types of fish. I would not recommend."

  • "We were excited to return to this restaurant, as we had our rehearsal dinner here when we got married. Unfortunately, the food was sub par. The calamari was nearly 50% fried vegetables, my $30 scallop meal had 4 small scallops. Mashed potatoes were "meh"/no flavor. Overall, a miss. Given the price point, I will not be returning."

  • "DAUGHTER GRADUATED FROM DENISON THAT WEEKEND AND I MUST HAVE MENTIONED IT IN MAKING THE RESERVATION AS THEY PRINTED SPECIAL MENUS WITH A CONGRATUALTORY NOTE PERSONALIZED TO HER AS A FUN KEEPSAKE. TOTALLY UNEXPECTED BUT PART OF A VERY POSITIVE DINING EXPERIENCE FOR 9 OF US AT A SPECIAL OCCAISION"

  • "We understand that this is a restaurant that specializes in meat and seafood. However there should be at least a couple vegetarian dishes available for those of us who are. There was only one appetizer that was not meat based. No entrees. We had to order salads and side dishes."

  • "Made a reservation for a retirement dinner. Requested special menues personalized, not ready, so sat for 30 minutes with no menus then brought generic menu anyway. Dinner fine but went to order dessert and they were out of three things ended up with sorbet, not exactly special. No apology and it was a 6pm reservation so not like last table of the night. I felt bad since I picked the place for our celebration and the honored guest loves seafood and never been. This is the second time we have been disappointed, may need to rethink our special occasion selection."

  • "I brought my friend to this restaurant for his birthday and I am very glad I did. It was both of our first times eating here. They gave him a menu that read "Happy 30th Birthday" and it felt very specialized. They even brought out a dessert for him at the end that was delicious."

  • "Overall the entire dining experience was a large negative. Our first dining experience there. Paid a lot of money to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary but did not get a high return on our investment. Wife had the salmon which was greasy and not a lot of quality flavor. I had the steak and it was over cooked. Limited side items to choose from. Topped off by what we both felt was poor service from our waitress who seemed to have an " attitude ". Definitely would look at better dining options in the future. Sorry but a $ 100 + meal (with tip) deserves more. Patrick McGuff"

  • "Dined here to celebrate an anniversary and birthday. The chef special 3 course menu was outstanding and I would highly recommend it. Soup or salad, choice of 1 of 4 entrees and choice of 1 of 2 desserts. All perfectly prepared and delicious. Service was outstanding. In addition, they have a great happy hour in the bar. All in all a perfect evening."

  • "After a seemingly large amount of negative reviews - took my 90 year old mom out for dinner. We had a great time. Service was decent, cocktails were solid; food was everything I expected. I'll go back again!"

  • "While the food and service was good, it was not a great experience. My wife had a shrimp dish that was good but not all of the shrimp were completely de-veined. We also got the lump crab tower appetizer. It was tasty however the lump crab quantity was much less than the mango and avocado, which was disappointing considering the name's dish. These little issues made the experience good and not great, so it will be a while before we visit again."

  • "Great overall experience. Service was responsive but not in your face. Food was nicely presented. We had steak and halibut from anniversary menu. The steak was cooked to order, medium rare. The halibut could have been cooked a little less but my party did not mind. Others have complained about their tendency to overcook fish. I'd agree with this experience but it was still tasty. I'd go back."

  • "Ordered their top line rib eye steak medium to medium well, and got back a well-done desert dry steak. Flavorful since I was hungry but not what I ordered and not up to excellence! Manager went through the scripted apologies but I did not return it or willing to waive the cost. I are it like a good trooper to avoid waste but I will not be going back to this place!"

  • "The food was OK, but we thought we'd have a much nicer meal for more than $35 per person."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "This is not what I expected. From the time I entered the dood, the greeting was terrible. I ordered the Tilapia and it was cold and no seasoning. When I told the waiter about it, he did not offer to take it back. The service was poor and the food was not to my taste. I would not go back."

  • "Outstanding location with a great menu that your group will easily be able to find something for all tastes. They usually have a varied specials menu along with 2-3 chef selections as well. From seafood to steaks and even an outstanding caprese salad... no problem finding something to eat."

  • "I work in the hospitality biz and dine out often. McCormick and Schmick is not new to me - I know the chain is part of the Landry's group; where we have experienced many very good meals. This one underperformed in a number of ways - which was with 7 guests for dinner on Friday evening. I was very disappointed with the $30 charged for the Miso scallops dish - and also $30+ for the tiny swordfish filet my son had. Both portions were so incredibly small- they were not even appetizer-sized. Further, we mentioned when reserving that we were celebrating my mom's birthday - and nary a peep from our server or offer of anything special for her. That's less than what I expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Sorry guys - you fumbled this one."

  • "All our sides and vegetables came out cold and the steaks were over cooked ... For a party of 9! The manger apologized but didn't comp anything or offer anything to fix it. My Senior VP gave her 3 opportunities to correct this and she was oblivious to true customer service. STAY AWAY! How embarrassing for me to take a work party there and this happen. It wasn't even busy. So disappointed."

  • "Went out for "date night" and wanted to give a try. We ordered the special 35th anniversary chardonnay and it was excellent! Loved the spicy shrimp appetizer! However, the main entree was okay. I ordered the stuff shrimp. Very good! But they were barely warm and the potatoes and greens were cold. Waiter was very polite. May go back and try other items."

  • "I have always loved McCormick & Schmick's. I believe it's the best seafood restaurant in Columbus. However, on this visit some of the food was over salted. Also one of our party's margarita's was made incorrectly (2nd round) which seems very odd especially since it wasn't even busy at the time."

  • "Good food (for all tastes), including desserts. All the dishes we ordered (4 people), mostly sea-food, were excellent. The only exception was the trout, which tasted like it had been out of the refrigerator for a long time before cooking it (not fresh). Wines (red) are great."

  • "We ordered from the 35th anniversary menu. The shrimp kisses appetizer from the main menu was wonderful, our favorite when we dine here. My husband was very happy with the halibut and vegetable orzo. I had the pan seared scallops with mushroom edamame risotto. The scallops were melt in your mouth, but the risotto was heavenly. We ended the meal by splitting the peanut butter pie. It was too heavy for me. My husband liked it, but he only ate a few bites and brought it home to eat slowly. Our server was very personable and helpful with menu choices. Very pleasant evening!"

  • "We ordered the filet and salmon - both were prepared exactly to our liking. The mozzarella salad was good - just a little dry and the tomatoes were not what I would consider excellent - which they need to be for this serving. The roasted vegetables were excellent as were the asparagus. We tried the apple upside down with cinnamon ice cream for dessert and it was well worth it! I would have preferred for this to be a bit more crusty vs mushy, but loved every bite just the same. Service was very good, just a little slow after we finished our meal. The outdoor dining is on the sidewalk at Easton down a side street and not really very scenic like other places we could have eaten at, but it was such a wonderful night, it did not matter"

  • "I got a gift card for this restaurant and was excited to try it. The service was second to none. Easy to make a reservation. Everything was ready when we arrived. Our server Ralph was great one of the best servers in Columbus that I've had. The appetizer was average and I ordered the salmon special that was being served that night. It came out a little dry and the potatoes it was served with were only okay. If it hadn't been for the service my wife and I received I may have called it a bust. But I will try it again to see if it was just a off night. Overall we had a great time though. "

  • "Another wonderful experience at M&S. The ever-changing menu is what keeps us coming back. Elegant dining, but in a comfortable and somewhat trendy setting. Steaks are as good as the seafood, even better than some other restaurants in Columbus that specialize in steak. Dessert menu is outstanding, too. I'm not much of a dessert eater, but the menu here was too diverse and enticing to pass up."

  • "I visit this restaurant once or twice a year. I'm sometimes underwhelmed by the menu, and this visit was no exception, but I like the atmosphere for gathering with friends. The grilled salmon I ordered was dry and the vegetables with it (green beans) were cold. It's on me that I didn't send it back. One table mate wasn't given a spoon for her soup, and by the time we flagged someone down it, too, was cold -- and it's not that the restaurant was particularly busy. Perhaps that on a Friday evening there were so many empty tables suggests that others have concluded what I experienced: service is indifferent, food uneven, overall not a particularly good value for the money."

  • "Dined on a Sunday: happy hour. Burger great, mussels excellent. Clam chowder to die for. We had everything: calamari, wedge salad, popcorn shrimp, chicken fingers, breaded shrimp, fish tacos, bottles of wine...then the oops. I ordered a tuna tower. The kitchen was fine with making it even though it was no longer on the menu. What was on the menu was a crab tower, so I said they could add crab to my tuna tower. In the end, I got two towers: one tuna and one crab. Both had the same set up of avocado and mango. I mentioned this to the waitress. She agreed that was the way it should have been done, and that that was what I asked for, but did not change my bill. It wasn't my mistake. I had ordered it as one. But I paid for both. "

  • "I dined with my family for Sunday dinner celebrating a few special events. The service was outstanding and we will definitely put M&S at the top of our list. From the cocktails to the creme brulee, the meal was excellent. "

  • "We had 8 for dinner and everyone was pleased with their food. Service was superb, no waiting and no rushing either. Chopped salad is huge, plan to share. I ate an entire salad and was too full to eat all my entree. Whole Maine lobster was delicious, blackened chicken pasta and fish and chips were good. Bread was good and plentiful for the entire table. We did not have dessert. Overall good value for the price, and menu has enough variety to satisfy everyone."
