We have eaten at M&S across the US since 1988 and they are still our favorite restaurant of all! The food is always prepared with great care and expertise and is second to none. The service was personal without being intrusive on our dining experience. While this was our first visit to the Atlanta restaurant, it will certainly not be our last!

Last Saturday night we had a real treat. I wanted to take my husband to a classy Atlanta restaurant for his birthday and I chose McCormick and Schmick's Seafood in Atlanta at the CNN Center partly because if its location. We had just gone to a football game and the Dome and it was within walking distance. We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation but were quickly seated. From there on, the service and food were impeccable. I highly recommend it for a special occasion or anytime you are in the Atlanta Downtown area.

It's been many years since I have been to a McCormick and Smick's restaurant and although a chain, I was looking forward to the experience. While the staff was great, the food quality was certainly not commensurate with the price. The clam chowder with undercooked potatoes was served just short of cold, the oysters lacked taste, and my stuffed shrimp entree seemed a bit lacking on substance. My wife ordered the Asian BBQ shrimp which one would assume might be prepared in a stir-fry sort of fashion. Unfortunately for her, the shrimp were battered and deep fried in a sauce making them entirely too sweet to enjoy. The drinks were also far overpriced; making the whole experience a rather disappointing one.

The serviced was absolute horrible - it took over 1 hour for us to get our drinks, they were out of many food items (lobster tail, trout, some pasta) and when I received my food, and hour and a half after I ordered it was quite obvious it had been sitting under lights for a long time. The beef "medalians" I ordered were 3 small pieces of what appeared to be shaved beef, and were less than 2 ounces total. When we asked to speak with a manager, we had to ask twice and when she still did not come to our table, I got up and sought her out

This was a 5 star dinner and will go back again. Loved their signature Shrimp Kisses and A must have. I had the seared sea scallops which were so delicious and fresh. Our waitress was spot on and so friendly. This was our first time at a McCormick & Schmick's Seafood restaurant and will look to try others when traveling.

Perfect place for nice, relaxing dinner prior to Philips Arena event. The food was good, and the service excellent. A loud group of 10 came in as we were finishing. Until then, the atmosphere made for a pleasant evening. Would go again. The crab and corn chowder alone is worth the trip. And as our server suggested, get the bowl.

  • Our 2nd year Anniversary

My husband and I celebrated our 2nd year anniversary downtown Atlanta, this past weekend. We spent the weekend at the Omni Hotel and made reservations to dine at the famous McCormick and Schmick's Seafood. First, off on my reservation I put that we were celebrating our second year anniversary, but no one even acknowledged it. We ordered the Ultimate Mix Grill with potatoes. My salmon was horrible and potatoes were stiff but seasoned. I sent my salmon back requested a glaze be put on it, I guess I should have told them to put it back in the pan with the glaze on it because all they did was poor a little over it and brought it rite back out to me. I probably will not give them another try for the price we paid.

First off, we went to the restaurant straight from the airport. My wife has just flown in from Manila, and her ears where a little sensitive. The first thing we had noticed was how unreasonably loud it was. The dining room was packed with self entitled white collar business men and women, who were competing to be heard. We eventually (after much effort) were moved to a quieter place to eat. After sitting at the new placing, I had noticed that both of my forks had crusted food on them. Feeling like I have already asked the wait staff for enough, I just remedied the situation myself. The only saving grace is that to food was pretty good. The Calamari was outstanding, and the Salmon was decent.

Here's how it went: - Slow Service for stuff like water, drinks - Ordered Tune appetizer, were told they were out of tuna, gave us calamari - Ordered Surf n Turf, which was on special - After long wait, were told they were out of Lobster - Steak came, was something out of TV dinner. Replaced lobster with 3 burnt mini-shrimp - Awful. After entrees were done, the sides came. - Long wait for service. Not much of a tip

The food, scenery and ambiance was great! The waitress was plain terrible, she would look at the table without checking on the party, we had to ask for refills after her walking by multiple times. She even brought out one of my favorite desserts...BURNT. She checked on other tables frequently so I guess we didn't look rich enough for her, so I played along and gave her a poor tip for her poor service.

Yes, we knew making a reservation on the night of a major concert the restaurant would be busy & noisy so our expectations were not high. We arrived early, bar packed, difficult to get a bev, lemon drop martinis had a disproportion amount of lemon&sour juice to our 1 shot of Vodka. Poured (but not shaken) drinks sat on the bar for 10 minutes and I asked what the situation was and after being told they were out of martini glasses I simply requested it be poured into a regular wine glass which was accommodated. Reservation honored, nice quiet booth/room, lovely server but she admitted she had no knowledge of the wine menu. My guests apple martini had little vodka. Flat bread pizza was soggy. Sea Bass C-, one order mixed up but credited.

We've always counted on Mccormick's as a 'known entity'- good food and service but our last two visits to this location (we also ate there about 2 months ago) were disappointments. We were seated promptly, but basics were slow (water- 20 minutes after seating, 1 small basket of bread four our party of 7, etc.) and food was very hit and miss. Just as in our last visit, parts of orders were forgotten; one meal had to be sent back, and several of the meals had 'heat lamp' crusts on them (and then luke warm underneath). I'm not sure if they are chronically understaffed, the kitchen is out of sync, or what, but the meal took nearly 3 hours and we will probably have to regrettably cross them off our list for the future. Steamed clams were good

Even though it was a Friday night, the restaurant was not crowded. From time we ordered until time food arrived was 35 minutes. Out of the 4 of us, the one who ordered the snapper was the only one who thought the food was good. 2 of my 3 items were not even warm, much less hot. The crab cake was mushy with too much filler and seemed like it had not been cooked long enough. It was luke warm on outside and cold in the middle. :( Maybe they were just having a bad night but it was not good at all!

My party was preparing for a concert that we have planned to attend since childhood. We picked M&S randomly and were very pleased. We were ushered to our private dining room and a wonderful experienced followed. We had a minor with us who was treated with respect and her whims were catered too as well as ours. Wife and I were at a conference, looking for a nice place to dine. We're able to get a reservation using Open Table. M&S were very busy due to the conference. We found the service a bit slow at first but improved dramatically once we made them aware of it. Gods was excellent. The tower of crab was a very move surprise. Lump crab meat with fresh mangos and avacado was refreshing and delicious. The swordfish oscar was perfect. And the buttermilk fried shrimp were as good as any and better than most. And the Heath bar pie was smooth and to die for. All in all, it was an outstanding dinner.

The food was good and once we were seated and ordered, our food came fast. The only problem is that I made reservation, however, my party of three had to wait for thirty (30) minutes. We arrived no less than 15 minuted before our reservation so that there would not be any problems. We arrived together and was concerned that we still had to wait for 45 minutes to be seated.

My wife and I went for our anniversary. They started off slow and didn't acknowledge the occasion. They made up for it and printed menus with our name and topped it off with creme brulee comped, which was outstanding. Very good vibe in downtown Atlanta. Plenty to do at Centennial Park and that area in general. Sea bass was wonderful. Shrimp and grits was different and outstanding. I'd definitely go again! Keep it up.

There have been some menu changes that I don't like. The shrimp kisses used to come with 5 shrimp now they have reduced it to 4. I always thought it should have at least been half a dozen but now it is even less. Now they seem to go to a stacking method as it relates to your food. What I mean by that is I got the blackened grouper that comes with potatoes and spinach. The potatoes were on the bottom, followed by the spinach, followed by the grouper and topped with the crab. I don't care for this presentation at all. I prefer my items separate and if I had known it came that way I would have requested they not be layered. This was my fourth time coming and I will try it once again, but if there are other major changes I might not be back.

We visited following Ala vs West Virginia football game. The appetizers were relatively fast but the main course took 1 and 1/2 hours and then it was poorly cooked. When the floor manager came over she asked why we'd complained? When informed her our reasoning - she proceeded to tell me there were several large tables seated before and they took priority. Never once did she even say she was sorry. When the store manager cam over I informed him what the previous manager had stated and her attitude and he looked confused and troubled. I would not recommend this restaurant and will avoid it during future Atlanta trips. The server was excellent on tying to make us happy but 1 and 1/2 hrs can not be overlooked. I hope this helps. Fortunately we had reservations as this is a convenient restaurant for lunch before the football game (Bama 33 WVU 23). As might be expected service was a little slow but I still rated it good considering the large crowd being served. Drinks were the slowest as the bar was extremely busy. Good choice of heavy or light lunch meals at reasonable cost.

Always nice to rarely visit M&S at CNN Center Atlanta. Wish I could visit more but fare is simply too expensive for regular dining. That is the only disappointing aspect to M&S. The location at CNN Center is great because after a great dinner one can visit Centennial Olympic Park area, Skyview Atlanta, etc and enjoy the parks just outside the door. I could only recommend it however as a special event restaurant due to pricing. Seafood should not be exploited by price to consumer at any level no matter how well supplied, prepared, or served. But when that special occasion comes around, this M&S is great.
