we booked a reservation for 9 on the busiest night of the year - Star Spangled Celebration - our reservation was honored at our desired time, however, it took almost 30 minutes for our waitress to take our orders for appetizers and dinner - once our orders were taken our dinners did come out at a reasonable time and hot. Since our ocassion for coming was a birthday celebration, the honorees (6 of them) were all treated to special candle desserts on the house - what fun! Our waitress was more than happy to wait and serve out desserts after the fireworks that night. Overall, it was a good night outing for birthdays and fireworks

The restaurant was very busy and they had a hard time keeping up. It took too long to get food and drinks and nothing was hot. It tasted like the food was under a heat lamp for too long. The waiter tried very hard but unfortunately he could not make up for what the restaurant was lacking. Since it took so long to get everything we decided to pass on desert.

  • Never got seated

This happened on the night of the Star-Spangled Spectacular. I made my reservation two weeks in advance, noted that we were celebrating two birthdays on the reservation, and called a week in advance to confirm once again and ask a table to view the fireworks. When we arrived, our table had no view, despite my earlier attempts, and no assistance or alternatives were offered. We chose not to take it. We went outside and got on the waiting list -- the hostess stressed that she was sure it would be only 25 minutes, and an hour later we still hadn't been seated. The hostesses are very polite, but completely ineffective, underinformed, and non-helpful every step of the way, ruining a special night. A disappointing experience.

We had lunch, it was during the Star Spangled Celebration, there were a fair number of diners outside, but not overly crowded. Had to wait a long time for lunch. I had Rockfish which was fine, husband's ahi tuna was overcooked and looked almost not real...

Our waiter AJ was fantastic. He and the host that sat us were the only good thing about the meal. It was not busy but it still took about an hour and a half to get 3 salads and a raw fish plate. I'm not sure if one of the salads was sitting under the heat lamp for too long but the chicken made it damp and inedible, the soups that we got were cold. A manager never touched down at the table to check on anything even after we needed the chicken salad to be taken off the check/complained to our server. We had to resort to telling a hostess about the issue. It was just very odd. Like I said before, one of the best things was AJ. He was awesome.

When I make a restaurant reservation, I expect to have priority over walk-ups. Instead, we were first taken to a table in a dark area of the patio, up against the building, and next to a very boisterous private party. When I declined that table, the next offering was one in a totally empty area near the hostess stand and parking lot. This was despite many open tables in the main part of the patio, next to flower beds, views of the water, etc. Only when I insisted on one of those tables, was I deemed worthy of sitting at one, and the hostess seemed annoyed. Once seated, we had a great server and terrific service and food. Past experiences have been much better!

Very good sea food, nice ambience with excellent view of the harbor. Outdoor dining is ample, but it is first come only, no reserved tables outdoors. The inside is very attractively done, lots of dark mahogany trim. Service varies, sometimes excellent, sometimes erratic, depending on the server. Overall, a very good dining experience, and is well recommended

I went to M & S to celebrate my graduation. I had been to this location before, years ago. What I noticed is that the place has aged. It needs new carpeting (the place smelled old and musty). The food has been better. The service was great. I would return during warm weather and enjoy their outdoor dining area, right on the water.

As we waited for our reserved table to become free, we thought we'd get a drink. The bartender was extremely rude and we never got a drink from the bar. Instead we spent a good 10 minutes talking to the manager. Finally got seated the server was nice but the food left a lot to be desired. The manager gave us our appetizer for free, due to what happen at the bar. Nice gester but the appetizer was hot crab dip and it was horrible. We would never go back.

The food and venue were great. The length of time to get seated, even with a reservation and as a Landry Club member, were far too long compared to my expectations (we ended up missing the last water taxi of the evening back to hotel as a result). The servers and seating attendants acted as if we were putting them out.

I don't mind paying for great food and great service. I do mind having to pay for mediocre food and so-so service. The food portions are small compared to what you are paying for. I felt like I was paying more for the view than the food. I am a chef myself and am aware of proper portion sizes, but this was small. The flavors were just ok. For the price I paid, I expect bold flavors, I also don't expect to have to season the food myself. Overpriced food, service that was mediocre and portion sizes that were too small.

I ordered a Filet and got a NY Strip. I had to ask a it by side order 3 times before I got it, I had already eaten 1/2 my meal. My wife was told her meal came with red skinned Potato's with red peppers she got rice. I ordered a 2nd beer when my 1st one was about 1/2 gone and I had to ask multiple times where is my 2nd beer I adjusted my tip based on our service. As I was leaving the waiter tracked me down to question my tip.

After being seated outside by the water. No one came to our table for 30 mins. It wasn't until I found a manager did we finally get our waiter. The excuse they used was I brought a beer from the bar out. Although my wife had nothing to drink and we both had Menus. After finally ordering and waiting another 35-40 mins our cold food arrived. Trying not to make a scene and have a nice dinner I ignored this fact. After finishing dinner we waited another 30 mins with no waiter ever coming to our table. I had to go to the manager a second time to inquire if my bill would ever be coming. I eat out 2-4 times a month and this was the worst dining experience I can ever remember. I had such high hopes for this restaurant only to be disappointed.

Made an opentable reservation, beware these apply only for indoor seating. An outdoor table is 15 min wait. Fine. Decide to wait at the bar; it was noisy and crowded so move back outside, leave our name and ph number at a 2nd hostess stand. Hostess assures us she has our name and adds our ph number. 30 min later, still waiting for a table, go over the check on the problem only to find two hostesses chatting at the stand. When we give our name, the 2nd hostess replies "oh, we've been looking for you". I point to the bench we were sitting at in plain view and mention we left our phone number. A shrug about not using her personal phone to call customers. No apology. Service was slow, our server forgot a ginger ale and bread. Not impressed.

Dinner for two outside on patio on August 28. Beautiful warm evening. Really enjoyed eating outside with the nice view of the harbor. Had herb-crusted rockfish special and Palm Beach grouper (red pepper/cheddar mashed potatoes subbed for crab potato hash). Both fish dishes were very good. Grilled vegetables (w/ rockfish) were very good but green beans and carrots that came w/ grouper were OK but nothing special. Had key lime pie and upside down candied walnut apple pie for dessert; key lime very good, apple excellent. Service was prompt (it was not at all crowded) and courteous, if a bit informal, but nothing special. Only complaint would be the price. Didn't feel food/service justified the bill ($94 w/ no alcohol and before tip).

Skip this restaurant if service with a smile, or any service at all, is important to you. After arriving at 5:30 on Sunday afternoon, we sat at our table until 6:00 pm while disgruntled-looking servers passed by without saying a word. Not even a "Gee, folks, we're sorry." No. We were simply ignored. Actually, the place was pretty empty, and now I know why. Finally a sympathetic busboy--who kept looking at us--got the manager (around 6:05) who seemed confused and tentative. Having enough of this disaster, we decided to leave and drive a few blocks to Oceanaire Seafood Restaurant, where the service was amazing! I have since heard that poor service is nothing new at McCormick & Schmick's, so take heed.

The meal was good, the service was good, the atmosphere was good, but nothing stood out as being exceptional. The meal was pricey ($160.00 for two people, with one moderate bottle of wine), so I was expecting a little bit more "wow", especially in the seafood dishes. One disappointment was that it rained and we could not sit outside.

The service was basically nonexistent. Upon arriving, I told the outside hostess we had made an open table reservation and we were directed inside only to be redirected outside because that's where we wanted to sit. Mind you I wrote that in the reservation notes. The service started out good. We were greeted by a nice young man who recommended apps and other items on the menu. We placed our order as well as our drink order. Our app came and then our drinks came as we were pretty much done with the first course. Our server delivers our drinks and says "the bar is a little slow tonight". Being a manger in the service industry, you never blame another area of the restaurant! We finished our meals and waited over 10 minutes for our check!

This was second bad experience in a row. We assumed we hit it on an off night a month ago. Obviously not - poor food and service is now the norm. Food is incredibly below average. They seem to rely on microwave 100%. Medium steak was purple and had to return it twice - didn't come back till rest of table was finished eating. Fish and lobster was rubbery. Water not offered. Not one of our party of six thought their meal was good. Manager came back with steak the third time, but acted like she was inconvenienced. Definitely felt that we were not treated right. This is a disgrace with the prices they charge. No offer to take the steak off bill, which was left uneaten - as was the majority of the dinners. This place is a FAIL!

For the price, it needs to be better than just ok. Some of our meal was fine - fresh oysters, delicious herb-crusted rockfish and nicely sauteed vegetables. But a mediocre cocktail (underpoured, lacking sufficient alcohol punch) what seemed to be a steamed, mushy lobster served with vegetables on a water-logged plate and a bar staff that had a hard time finding the right bottle of wine are not what one expects from a restaurant that promotes itself as a high-end place. Waterfront Kitchen has a better view, O'Leary's in Annapolis, and even the casual Mike's Crab House put out better seafood. I can't think of a single reason to recommend McCormick & Schmick over those. Very disappointing.

The food was excellent; the waiter not so much, not attentive. We had to ask for bread. My friend ordered coffee, which was served in a cup with no saucer and cream added. She asked why the cream had been added and no saucer. His response, that is the way we serve it. Yet it was not true at adjoining tables. I must add, we had a totally different experience on another night with a different waiter.

Celebrated a recent birthday dinner by dining on a Saturday night on the patio. First, the Good news. Lovely patio, great view, great ambience. The food was excellent! Looked like small portions, but deceptively filling! Highly recommend the scallops. Second, the not-so-good news. Tried one of the recommended drinks - prosecco sangria - no flavor, watered down, and tasted only like cucumber. Try something else. Service was a little slow - hard to tell if because the restaurant is huge and they had far to go to get outside or they simply had too many tables. The restaurant was nice and sat us before our reservation, but then didn't mark down that we'd kept our reservation - and this was after giving our name/reservation time to the hostess!
