Diner Reviews
  • "Ordered a calamari appetizer that I thought my date wasn't going to be able to enjoy (because he doesn't eat calamari), but to my surprise there were all sorts of other vegetable goodies in there for him. Both of our dishes arrived quickly, were fresh, and very well executed."

  • "I can't say enough great things about this restaurant! The Food was excellent! We had the Rainbow Trout, and a Shared Shrimp Cocktail. Our Waiter was outstanding! We had B-Day Dinner reservations on 4/2/14 at 7:15pm. We didn't notice right away, but, they had Happy Birthday printed at the top of the menu, and rolled it up and tied a ribbon around it like a scroll, so we could take it home. How cool is that! :) The Atmosphere is Great! The outside patio was extremely nice and relaxing! I could go on and on, but, you should just go for yourself and find out :) I Highly Recommend this for Date Night! Or, a quiet relaxing night."

  • "This is one of our favorites, especially when celebrating something. The personal touch on the menus is always nice. We were able to sit in one of the "cubbies", and closed the curtains to have our own "private dining" experience. Patricia did a great job taking care of us. The food is always top notch, and they make one of the best bourbon sours in town. :) We will definitely be back!"

  • "Food as always was outstanding. Service from time we entered felt rushed although restaurant was less than 40% full. Server inexperienced and provided cold, indifferent, rushed service Will not rteturn again for a long time."

  • "I wanted to take my girlfriend to a nice restaurant to propose to her. This was close to home and very nice. The atmosphere was awesome and made the perfect setting to pop the question. It will always be associated with our engagement."

  • "I was really concerned that I might not be able to get a table because I changed my reservation 3 times, but upon arrival on a Friday night at 7pm I realized I might not have even needed one. The food was really good, and the service was good; I'm not sure why it was so dead in there but I won't complain. After a hard week, a quiet evening with good food was welcomed. Our server was "odd" and didn't try really hard to upsell more drinks and desert- which I actually wanted for once. HA! I'll definitely come back next time I'm in the area. Good find."

  • "Overall it was a good experience, I noticed there is a lack of protein that isn't steak or seafood. I was hoping for a nice grilled chicken or pork chops, there is little to eat clean and healthy without modified choices. I had steak which was very good but not in my diet. Service started awkward but finished very well. Will come back for happy hour it's super cheap and filled with quality goods."

  • "Table selection on line did not generate seating of choice at the restaurant. The booth seating was a little too strait up the back, less comfortable that we would have likes. Food was good."

  • "Besides great food and drink this restaurant had great service. My husband has a very dry sense of humor and the waiter kept up with him splendidly. The swordfish casino is a dish you must try. My son was delighted that his steak was cooked to perfection. The chocolate cake was not only excellent, it was huge. The only thing I was disappointed in was how few choices in wine were from outside the US."

  • "Excellent seafood for a land locked city-always does a great job of having and preparing very good seafood dishes."

  • "I wonder what it takes to have a booth or curtained table? The staff knew it was a special occasion yet that was not offered. There were several of those spaces empty. My fish(trout) was adequate but the rest of my table enjoyed their Mahi Mahi, Tx redfish & flounder. Desserts were inventive. If you are an older diner (55+) or hearing impaired at any age, request a table that's NOT in the middle of the room."

  • "We had a large group for a quiet weeknight. The food was good and was served in a timely manner. A couple orders were wrong but were corrected. The deserts were incredible and I enjoyed it (just like last year)."

  • "I've been a guest at your restaurant numerous times over the years since it first opened at The Domain. Over the past year or so I have seen a steady decline in the quality of the food and the service. This is unfortunate as this was our 'go to restaurant.' I do hope the quality improves soon. Thank you."

  • "This is my go-to business lunch spot in The Domain. Love that they have a gluten free menu and it's a good environment for being able to talk and get business done while enjoying good food. Points are nice too!"

  • "We let the restaurant know in advance that we were having dinner there to celebrate a birthday and were pleasantly surprised to see that they had printed out custom menus that said Happy Birthday at the top. The food was great, as usual, and the waiter was helpful as we selected drinks, our entrees, and dessert. Would recommend it and will be going back again soon!"

  • "Booked my table for 6 a few hours before with OpenTable. Perfect. Then bumps. Seating us was awkward as we had checked in at the front with the hostess and she departed saying she would get our table ready. Returning she then seated a couple that came in AFTER us. I was puzzled. After being seated I ordered a bottle of Prosecco which took twenty minutes. The wrong glasses. Then he didn't know how to pour it into the flute without having it bubble over onto the table. Finally getting our food ordered, some time later, 4 of the 6 entrees arrived an we had to wait 3-4 minutes for the final two to make it to the table. My "fresh" Hawaiian mahi mahi was extremely overcooked, very dry and flavorless. I was less than pleased."

  • "Was overall unimpressed with this restaurant. The food came out in a timely manner but was just so-so. The espresso was simply coffee in a small cup not espresso. I was really put off by the waitress trying to sell me on some frequent diner club… Really? Was this Chili's or Bennigan's? I won't be back."

  • "The only great place for seafood in Austin is Eddie V's. Mc Cormick and Shmick is a respectable second. This is way upscale chain food that almost makes you forget it is Landry's big brother. It is a place for a very good expensive evening out in nice surroundings. We had guests who enjoyed the food and the restaurant experiance."

  • "McCormick & Schmick's provided a great dining experience once again. The menu is varied, including some items other than seafood, and all of the dishes were delicious and very well presented. The seating in the booths with curtains provides the right touch of class and privacy without feeling that one is being quarantined."

  • "My wife and I always enjoy visiting McCormick & Schmick's (in several different cities) because the selection of fresh / local fish is always changing week-to-week and the chef designed preparations are as well. In this particular visit, we had a great dinner, very fresh ingredients, creative preparation, served hot, and with great service that was friendly and attentive. Can't ask for more than that!"

  • "Great Happy Hour. I haven't eaten at McCormicks' in a long time and am crazy for not! The HH menus is GREAT and fit for vegetarians. Nice patio area that I didn't know existed and I'm always driving by. I can't wait to go back for Tues HH!! $1 Oysters & Shrimp and live JAZZ? Can't beat that!"

  • "We dined there on Valentine's Day and were lucky enough to get a table with the privacy curtain. Very nice! My 2 only complaints were 1) We waited a LONG time (enough to read thru the entire menu and decide what we wanted for our entrees) before so much as getting a drink of water from our waiter, and 2) While waiting, the floor manager walked right by us after we had sat there quite a while with no water or anything and didn't even acknowledge us, much less bother to bring us some water or give us the opportunity to put in a cocktail order while the waiter got caught up to the point where he could get to our table. No excuse for such a high-priced, dining establishment in the Domain!"

  • "There was seven of us for New Years Eve dinner. The food & service was amazing and served promptly. It was very busy and noise level was moderate but not too noisy, but what do you expect for a very busy night. Love this place and would definitely go back again."

  • "This was one of our favorite places, which is why we chose it for a belated Valentine's lunch. Unlike in times past, we were taken to a table that had been wiped with a very wet towel, but there still was debris from the last diner on it. Table was wet, which is not very appealing. The service was OK, in that the server was somewhat personable but seemed a bit robotic. The disappointment was the overcooked and underseasoned parmesan crusted fish. It was not so bad that I would send it back, but it was rather dry from over cooking. I did speak with the manager who was responsive enough. In context, when we go the McCormick and Schmick's we expect superior cuisine and a sparkling environment. It missed the mark, albeit not by much."

  • "The foods, especially the scallops on crab potato hash, were exceptionally good. For Vday however, it appeared they set up a bunch of extra table, but didn't hire any extra staff. We arrived a little early and waited by the bar about 10 minutes unsuccessfully trying to get a drink order. After being seated it was a while before we ordered drinks. Those took a while, then he dropped them off and immediately darted before we could order. We had a reservation t 8:15, and we sat at closer to 8:25, and weren't able to place a food order until about 8:45 and were starving at that point. The food took equally long to come out. The sever didn't check on us until we had completely finished eating, and took a long time before we could pay."

  • "Food & Service was just ok, nothing to rave about. I have eaten at several of the Landry's restaurants, Austin Tx, Nashville,Tenn and Dallas ( Morton's, Aquarium, Claim Jumper, Rain Forest, Salt grass ), all meet and or exceeded my expectations. Maybe this was just a bad night, but for the price, I have several other choices in town I will go back to."

  • "We had a wonderful waiter who had a great sense of humor and was very attentive. The food was excellent and the portion size was perfect. The only issue was that my steak was over done. I ordered a medium cooked steak and I got a well done steak. It was tender and delicious just the same."

  • "Love that they had a fumé blanc by the glass on the wine list. As always, the service and food were outstanding. Parking is difficult unless you want to pay for a valet or walk a few blocks."

  • "We loved the ambience of the restaurant. Very friendly and professional service (with a smile). The seafood trio was delicious! A great choice. It was very comfortable and pleasurable dining experience. However, wasn't familiar with the wine list and didn't have much time to review and make selection. It would be great to have a least 1 sample of your choosing. Yes, we will definitely return and bring friends with us. Thanks to the staff for their outstanding service."

  • "This was our first experience at McCormick & Schmick's, and it turned out to be an excellent choice for a Valentines Day dinner date. From its fun location at The Domain to the inviting and intimate ambiance, McCormick & Schmick's offers a great setting for any date night. The food and service were very good and the prices about what you'd expect for casual fine dining. It's on the list for a return visit and we'd recommend it to friends."

  • "I have been to this restaurant before but my friends or wife had not been. Considering its reputation and prices, the service was extremely terrible. We sat at the bar a good 15 minutes prior to even being greeted or asked if we needed a drink. Once the bartender finally served us, being a former bartender, it was obvious she was either new or not a seasoned bartender. I stuck to beer as a result but my friends got drinks and sure enough had to send them back. Once we were seated, yet again we had to wait 15-20 minutes to receive new drinks (beer) once we ordered it. Waiter was nice and friendly but he seemed rather overwhelmed. Now I understand Valentines is a busy day but one would think staff would be prepared for such a holiday."

  • "I snagged a Valentine's weekend reservation and was very thankful. The perfect Patron margaritas were delicious as we waited for the table, and the crab cake was full of...crab! Such a refreshing change from the normal seafood fare in Austin. This is not by any means a cheap date night, but the food and service make it worthwhile. A filet and some stuffed shrimp later, we enjoyed the creme brulee. Next time we will split a meal, but we WILL be back."
