Diner Reviews
  • "Service was excellent food was not. I ordered the 13 ounce rib steak medium rare. It came out charred not even a trace of pink in the meat. Also the steak was in three pieces connected by gristle must have been the last cut available. My spouse ordered the srimp scampi with medallions the medalions were fine but the shrimp were overcooked to the point of being so tough she had to drink water with the food. Her comment was "Thiis is a seafood restaurant, they should know how to cook shrimp.". The spring vegetables were spot on great. The quality has definitely fallen since the company has been sold to the new ownership group. For the 75.00 tab one feels some how cheated...."

  • "Every seat has a beautiful view of the river! Great from start to finish."

  • "The Happy Hour menu was fairly limited in that there weren't enough appetizer-type selections. The burgers, sliders and tacos were too large for pre-dinner eats. Except for a less-than-glorius Caesar salad, the dinner was superb@ Chowder -- WOW! Our server was great -- personable, humorous, attentive, informative."

  • "I reviewed this restaurant on another site. I'm reasonably tolerant of minor errors in food preparation, or a busy kitchen that may seem slow. This restaurant failed in several areas: 1. Delivered the wrong entries. 2. Delivered seriously undercooked fish. 3) took far too long to deliver. 4) delivered entries to a medium-large party at widely separate times. 5) delivered cooked entries that were cold. This was a special event for the group and this restaurant ruined the experience for us. This was our experience only, perhaps you will have better luck."

  • "March 2014. This is probably our favorite restaurant in Portland, since the McCormick's on First Ave closed several years ago. We eat here about twice a year, and never fail to have a wonderful dinner in all respects. Our only disappointment this time was the arugula/beet salad, mostly greens, little dressing, beets hard to find. But fantastic pan-fried oysters light as a feather, mixed seafood grill, and lava dessert. Perfect service and atmosphere."

  • "We live within walking distance of the Harborside and eat here periodically. It always seems to be busy, very rushed and quite noisy. The food is typical of an upscale chain, high volume restaurant—good but not great. There are many fresh fish choices on the menu. Dinner for four with four wine choices by the glass totaled $142 without tip, which seemed quite reasonable. We had a wonderful window table on the main floor. One thing that I have noticed repeatedly is that the servers always seem rushed, stressed and a bit impatient. The restaurant space and location, especially in the summer, are exceptional. We have heard that "Happy Hour" is the best in the region so we will try that next. We will return occasionally."

  • "Don't come here often enough. The food is always good and the service is excellent. The bartender and waitresses were friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. Looking out on the Willamette River is a plus."

  • "Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Their wine list featured local offerings, which was perfect for my out-of-town guests. The food was absolutely delicious for all of us, with notable mention going to the swordfish entree. Ambiance was perfect; "theatre style" construction affords a river view for almost all tables, and city/boardwalk lights contribute to the atmosphere."

  • "I was quite disappointed in this restaurant. I have eaten in many McCormick and Schmicks and always found them first rate. Here the food was expensive, poorly cooked and the waiter a little bit too obviously zealous promoting the most expensive dishes. Nice view and well laid out restaurant but I doubt if I will be returning."

  • "Absolutely loved this restaurant with it's wonderful location plus the food was great for all three of us! The waitress took care of perfect care of us, I would come back again and again to this wonderful establishment!"

  • "I received a gift card for McCormick and Schmick's, and this location seemed to call out to me. I hadn't been here for a long time and had forgotten what a great space it is. Food and service were great, noise level was reasonable (rare in a restaurant these days!). Being able to book a reservation online through 'OpenTable' was quick and easy, gotta love this system!"

  • "This is a good place to go to dinner prior to an event at the Keller. We had grilled fish with sweet potato orzo. Although it was tasty, I would have liked more sweet potato or a side of veggies."

  • "We were very excited to have dinner at McCormick and Schmicks as we had never been. Food was not hot, shrimp over cooked (Coconut), bread not done (doughy), portions small and over priced. In fairness my steak was great, but that was the only great thing about the experience. Felt like a number and no special treatment."

  • "My boyfriend and I had received a gift card to here, and I'd only ever heard about this place and so I was a little excited when I got $50! This restuarant is pretty pricy, but it was definitely worth it. I don't think that I would go here every weekend, or even every month because of the price, and I'm just that cheap! But, it was a very good ambiance and very delicious!"

  • "Our wait person was great! Attentive, but also gave us space. We both had the horseradish crusted steelhead and it was wonderful. Pecan pie for dessert and my wife had the flourless chocolate."

  • "Started with appetizers in the bar/pilsner room. We had the Calamari it had a kick that I did not like however it was still very good. We were escorted to our table very friendly jovial staff. The food was outstanding. I had the ribeye my girlfriend had the lobster cobb salad. Both were outstanding. The lobster bisque was absolutely exquisite prices were pretty much exactly where I thought they should be. So why a 4 star instead of a 5 star? Funny you should ask. Our server had no sense of humor and was very pushy about the add ons. She seemed very snooty like her job was beneath her. My job is beneath me but I do not act that way towards my clients. I do hope the cooking staff got most of that."

  • "This night was to be a birthday celebration for my husband. We had a party of six and we were crammed in to a table that would have been comfortable for four. It was 5 minutes before anyone ever acknowledged us. Food was OK.....not equal in taste and presentation to the price. Don't remember our waitress being overly attentive. They put candles on the dessert my husband ordered (which he had to pay for) but they did not sing as they did at other tables that night. Will not return for any special occasion."

  • "We've been coming to the Harborside for many years. We've watched the changes that Landry's has made and most were good. However, the music or rather noise in distracting and irritating. We dine to eat and converse, not yell to hear one another. Having said that, the food is good and the service outstanding."

  • "We went here for the first time for our anniversary/valentines day. We expected it to be busy, but even with it being busy the setup of the restaurant makes it seem a little more private. We have VERY high expectations of the food, and although it was good, it was not exactly what we were expecting. We are picky about servers, and our server was AWESOME."

  • "We had not been back here for about 9 years and were really looking forward to this. We received a gift certificate and wanted a special night. Parked close in the usual pay lot and went inside and was seated quickly from our reservation. Prices were up but I expect the best and am willing to pay. First off the cesar salad was very dry and certainly not tasteful. The bread in which we craved was different in all respects, hardly any parmesan cheese and no other herbs as before. I thought that I ordered the trout with the almond crusting and even asked if it could be broiled. Did not get that, and the trout was the worst I have eaten, almost tasteless."

  • "We were greeted like we were an inconvenience. The table we were seated at, was ready to fall off the stand it was sitting on. The Dinner that I ordered, Steak and Lobster, was not a steak but, 6 small bites of meet. I would not recommend this to any of my friends or family."

  • "My husband and I were looking for somewhere we'd never been, on the water. This place was awesome!!! The architecture has multilevel seating so everyone has a great view of the harbor and the yachts. The food was amazing..we highly recommend the shrimp kisses...(bacon wrapped around shrimp..what a dream) It was a perfect place for valentines day lunch and I bet at night when the docks are lit up its even more gorgeous. Moderate pricing and the portions are good."

  • "As usual M & S hit a home run. We love this place, and almost everything about it. Our dining experience this time, was not that great. We were seated in the bar/lounge area. It was way too loud, and had the distraction of a movie playing. The atmosphere was not at all what we've experienced in the past, and We will not sit in there again!"

  • "I've been here several times (yes, their HH is great) but this last visit was my first with the full menu. It started out alright; the view is nice (most of it is reflection of interior lights), and the waiter was emphatic about the menu and very friendly. His recommendation is where it went downhill. I'm sure the stuffed salmon would have been wonderful, had it been cooked and/or actually sushi-grade fresh. Sadly, my special lady friend didn't realize the culinary carelessness until she had eaten a good portion of it; consequently, she was up all night trying to keep it down. It could have been bad luck of the draw, and I will return, but now I'm convinced that less is more; I'll stick to spending less money and getting more satisfaction."

  • "We were in McC&S harborside in Portland Oregon celebrating V'day on the 13th instead of the 14th. I had an awkward moment with an oyster worm. But that's not what this is about. It's about a Manager that wished us a great meal when we entered the restaurant and immediately took care of the awkward moment without making me feel bad. The manager's name is Scott Clement (What a charming, professional, customer service steward). We've traveled around the world and came back to the Portland area to retire. McCormick and Schmick's Harborside, measures up to and goes beyond many of the so called "5 star" restaurants we frequented in Europe. Our waiter Quinton was also great. Thanks for keeping customer service excellence alive!"
