  • "We were on our first trip to San Francisco and celebrated the 4th at McCormick & Kuleto's. The view was spectacular - the food was delicious - the lobster bisque! - and the wait staff was attentive. Overall it was A-1 & I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you OpenTable for the assistance with the reservation."

  • "We went on the 4th of July and of course, it was packed. Our booth was designed so that we'd have a view of the bay which was wonderful. It looks like all of the seats are set up for a view of the bay which I thought was very nice. We had the crab cakes, stuffed shrimp, clam chowder, pork chops, scallops, cioppino, and steak and ALL of it was wonderful. Because it was so packed, the wait for our food was a little bit longer but we were told upfront about the delay and the wait staff was great about it. If I'm ever back in San Francisco, I'd definitely go back!"

  • "The filet mignon was superb, the carnitas appetizer was great but the restaurant known for seafood had no shrimp kiss. I was looking forward to eating shrimp kiss. That being said, the restaurant offered us to come back for a free appetizer the next time we came back."

  • "food was not as wonderful as expected; so-so. Extra 5% for cost of business in SF is exorbitantly excessive."

  • "We sat window side with a wonderful of the bay over the Aquatic Center. The food was delightful. Our waiter Justin worked hard and in spite of a large crowd on 4th of July, he was attentive, humorous and managed the dinner with a smile and appropriate charm. We enjoyed the experience!"

  • "I wasn't a fan of mccormicks and schmicks but thought we would try this restaurant and I am still not a fan. The waiter took quite some time to approach our table. I would think the service should have been top notch. Food had minimal flavor. Have had much better at Flemings and other fine dining establishments. We had steak here so maybe that was where we went wrong. I would only recommend because the view is amazing."

  • "Just had a great dining experience at McC and Ks. Excellent service and lovely ambiance with families, groups of friends and couples enjoying fantastic food and the wonderful view. I'd not been for 10 years and usually I'd be with my husband and friends but on this occasion I was alone- not something I enjoy usually! When I booked I requested a table with a view to keep me entertained and feel less lonely- they gave me a fantastic table with a view of the bay and looked after me very well. Food was up to the usual high standard- the mango/ crab tower was refreshing and tasty and the petrale sole with sweet potato chips was succulent. Many thanks to McC and Ks- will be back next time we're in town."

  • "Two of our guests ordered the seared tuna plate and each were very disappointed. Each were over salted. Each person complained later that evening of stomach issues. We did enjoy the appetizers, but the main dishes were nothing notable."

  • "Had 8:30 reservation for four; checked in w/ host at 7:00; he said to return at 8:30; returned at 8:20; shown awful table at 9:10; told them it was unacceptable: given another table 10 min later but just like the previous 4th waitress was friendly but service was extremely slow and food arrived 15 min after fireworks began, worse than prior year. Extremely poor planning and preparation by management. Food has been very sub-par for years and overall experience worsening Would highly advise not patronizing."

  • "Thanks Kristen for being so nice and accommodating! 4th of July was crazy busy, luckily we had reservations. Kristen didn't mind that we kept ordering appetizers and drinks thought out dinner and into the fireworks time. She told us her favorites and took her up on most of them however, the donut holes were disappointing, they need rework the receipe to be lighter and more tasty."

  • "views were amazing. food left me wanting more. I wanted nothing more than clam chowder when we walked in, but was saddened to learn it had bacon in it - I'm not a fan of bacon. So I got a bowl of lobster bisque - a tiny bowl. My husband being bacon lover got the chowder and was not impressed."

  • "My family was in San Francisco for the 4th of July and at the last minute I booked a reservation for dinner at McCormick and Kuleto's. We arrived on time and were seated promptly. Others were being seated right away but were told they would need the table in 90 minutes which I didn't like. Since we had a reservation no one tried to hurry us. The food was very good and came to the table very quickly. Our server was great and very attentive even though they were very busy. We felt rushed but all in all enjoyed our meal....and you can't beat the view. I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "When I called to confirm my reservation, I told them it was my wedding anniversary. They were so nice and said they would have a menu printed with our names on it. When we arrived, they barely acknowledged we had a reservation, much less having a special menu. They didn't even acknowledge the anniversary. It's a good thing the food was good and we were able to view the fireworks."

  • "The seafood here is top class, great selection, very nicely cooked. Very generous portions. The fish stew main was a highlight, with scallops, crab, squid, mussels, clam, salmon and some other flat white fish, all in a fiery soup. Service is friendly and attentive. We booked this restaurant for its views of the bay and fireworks on 4th July. We were not disappointed, we think we had the best view in San Francisco - as did all other customers, every table had great views. Book early, for not later than 8pm, as it took almost an hour to get seated."

  • "We visit SanFran 1-2 times a year, and this was our third (and last) visit to McCormick & Kuleto's. We make reservations in advance, but on all three occasions we had to wait 20-30 minutes to be seated, and the hostess was perturbed when we chose to wait longer rather than settle for the worst table in the house. Service in the bar was non-existent. We had to wait another 15 minutes at our table to be greeted and to have drink orders taken. Both of our wine glasses were too dirty to be used, and the second try wasn't much better. My spouse's steak was under-cooked by two levels, and my scallops were rubbery and over-cooked. The final insult was how the restaurant rounded-up the SF City Surcharge from 3% to 5%. Definitely not a $250 meal."

  • "My Wife and I showed up 2 hours early because of the way our day went. McCormick & Kuletos's set us up at a great table with no problems. The menu had our anniversary date and names printed on them which was a very nice touch. The food was excellent and so was our waiter and the manager . The view was very nice overlooking the water. I would highly recommend this restaurant especially for any special occasions."

  • "Really enjoyed our food here. The crab cake was delectable and the calamari too. Had the stuffed salmon to follow. Despite a tempting dessert menu we went to Ghiradelli after. When in Rome!!"

  • "Strike 1. We ordered a $100 bottle of wine. My wife's wine glass was filithy - oil and left over lipstick on the rim as well as grease on the bottom of the glass. I asked for a new glass, "oh I'm so sorry". He comes back with a new glass, takes the old dirty greasy glass he's already poured wine into and proceeds to pour that into the new glass. Strike 2. I ordered the daily fish special with vegetables. The fish was dry and had 3 bones. The bad part was the amount of oil used in their "steamed" vegetables. The veggies we're swimming in oil! Strike 3. My wife ordered her steak medium rare - it came out WELL done, as if cooking it once wasn't enough. Bottom-line, avoid this place."

  • "We typically don't visit many tourist spots but thought this would be fun place to celebrate our sons 16th birthday. Nice touch with the personalized menu! The view was fantastic and did not disappoint. However the service was terrible: slow, inattentive. The waiter was under educated on the menu and wine list and seemed overwhelmed pouring a glass of wine into a full water glass! We had to ask to be compensated he did not offer. Dinners were very inconsistent ranging from Blah (scampi), salty (scallops), tasteless (ravioli). The pork chop was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Clearly this restaurant hangs on the view and captive audience of the tourists. GO FOR A COCKTAIL AND THE VIEW. Then head to a local neighborhood restaurant."

  • "We are former SFers, now Sonoma residents, who enjoy this place as a special treat when we visit the City. Yes, you pay for the view, but what a view! And the seafood is basic, but good. Was disappointed that they serve only farmed Atlantic salmon, and not any of the lovely local fresh Pacific salmon that is all over any grocery store. Also disappointed to hear the server tell us it was crab season. The last weekend of June? Puh-leeze!"

  • "View table and greeting was great. Waitress assured our guests all fish was FRESH. I questioned her twice about the FRESH fish, as on previous visits I was told some fish was frozen. She assured us EVERYTHING on the menu was FRESH. After bringing the wrong entree' orders (it happens!) we received the correct order. Unfortunately, three of us ordered the Petrale Sole. All three orders were burned and cold. How does that happen unless it is precooked? VERY disappointing. Won't be back for a very long time, even with fantastic views!"

  • "The view from any table was great. Our waiter was very personal without being intrusive. He even recommended a wine he thought we might like based on the one we ordered. This was a personal recommendation which was shared not because he was trying to sell it but thought we'd be interested. He also recommended the smoked salmon dish which I loved."

  • "The service was prompt, and the view was great. They had a decent wine list. The good stopped there. The steaks were tough, overcooked, and under seasoned. The vegetables were bland, cold, and undercooked. The fish was obviously frozen, and it was all bland and flavorless. Definitely not worth the price - by far."

  • "We've been here many times and every visit reminds us to come on the next trip. This time we both ate the Dungeness crab and blue cheese dinner, which was excellent. Asked for a window seat and got it, but we've always gotten great bay view seats. Server was attentive and helpful without being obtrusive. Next trip we'll be here again."

  • "My wife and I went back to McCormick & Kuleto's on our trip with our kids to have the chocolate bag dessert and some other selections. We had the dessert our first time in SF and wanted the kids to try it also. The presentation is cool and tastes wonderful. Excellent service, service, and view of the bay. Will be back next time in town!"

  • "I made the reservation because I track their website. They sent advertisement for a special so I made reservations. Waitress said special was not available, but did not inquire further to anyone else. We eventually showed their email to a mgr, who took it to the main mgr, and to their credit they honored the special. It all seemed rather odd. The food was good. Felt the waitress could have been more assertive. Plus we seemed to wait along time to order after mgr came back to inform us special would be honored."

  • "Fish was cooked to perfection and Cioppino was delicious. My son loved his mac n cheese. The food did take quite a while to come out of the kitchen--the waiter explained that the restaurant was uncharacteristically busy the night we went (due to a huge medical conference being in town), which may also explain why they ran out of sourdough for the clam chowder bread bowl. The view was amazing (in the summer, the sun doesn't set till after 8 pm). I'm surprised they even have a dessert menu, with Ghirardelli just steps away. But I guess I applaud them for trying."

  • "We make it a habit of eating at McCormick & Kuleto's if we visit the wharf area. It has always been a consistent and accommodating restaurant with good food. The only ingredient that was below par on Father's Day was the service. We realize that this is a high volume day and that delays can happen. There were no delays this day, only a lackadaisical attitude with our service provider. The waiter was kind, but lacking in the basic "let's take good care of the customer" attitude. There was no inquiry on replenishing our drinks, bread etc., just the "do you want to see the dessert menu?" At another restaurant this may be the accepted way of service, but it was out of character based on our previous experiences at McCormick and Kuleto's."
