Diner Reviews
  • "First you are greeted by the beautiful view, then the good service and finally very good food. Great experience"

  • "There were some negative reviews, but we found this to be a really good restaurant. We wanted something for lunch with our granddaughter. The concierge at our hotel recommended it, its white tablecloth and a step up from the touristy places. We were all very happy with the food and the view is terrific. Service was attentive and prompt, important as one of our party had to be somewhere on a short time frame. We would definitely go again."

  • "This restaurant could be a gem if any service was offered. Also only a one hole bathroom in a very large facility. Would not go back."

  • "Excellent food quality, fresh, good portions, good value."

  • "While I'm a frequent visitor to San Fran for business, I've been back to M&K on several occasions, usually for an dinner with someone or a group that hasn't been here before. And, while some would consider this to be a tourist restaurant due to it's location near Fisherman's Wharf, what's wrong with that? Good food, great views of the bay, island and boating, ample bar and good service. It's a formula for a nice evening. And, we usually make a stop at Giradellia Square for chocolate. It's located immediately behind the restaurant. Plus, a nice cap at Buena Vista - just a block away - for their famous Irish Coffee, ends a nice evening. Another plus for out of towners, the cable car stop is right next to Buena Vista."

  • "We had guest visiting from England. It was the perfect place to take them for brunch. We had a great table near the widow with amazing views. The food was great, the service was friendly and not rushed. I highly recommend it."

  • "Well designed place with good views of the Bay. Service was friendly and attentive. Crab Louis salad was almost $30 with one hard boiled egg, tomatoes that tasted like cardboard, and far too many cucumbers. Crab itself didn't taste too fresh and the dressing lacked "zing." Bloody Marys, in various permutations, were well received, however. Given how slow the food was in coming, the parking validation time period seem miserly and added another $10 to the overall cost. Be aware there is also a 3.5% surcharge by the restaurant to offset the high cost of doing business in SF."

  • "I know this is an event/tourist restaurant, but I think if they're going to charge $65 for a lobster or $20 for a fried appetizer, they need to upgrade the food. I always order fish, since it's the specialty of the house, but I always regret it. It's rubbery and clearly pre-prepped, with dry or old or uninspired-tasting touches. No sides; you have to add to your bill for some ho-hum fries or steamed spinach. Wine list is as boring as possible. There are hundreds of better options in town for half the price. But no, they're not perched above the street on Ghirardelli Square. Please help us feel less bad when we patronize you, McCormick and Kuleto's."

  • "Couldn't beat the view of Golden Gate Bridge. Oh - yes you could! Excellent food (I had the sashimi, my partner had oysters) then Tuna for mains. Good location, excellent staff, highly recommended"

  • "When we travel to San Francisco, we always try to dine here. Excellent food, wonderful service, and a fabulous view of the bay."

  • "One of the better spots in SF that we enjoy going to for a special occasion, usually with visitors from out of town. Good food, good service and great view in an historic location of SF."

  • "Our window table overlooking the Bay to Mt Tam was made even more mystical by the sunset and a tray of chilled raw oysters. The complete seafood menu has infinitely more variety than the on-the-Wharf restaurants only a few blocks away. Server was knowledgeable and dignified, and took the time to get our order perfect."

  • "This is our second visit to the beautiful city of San Francisco. We had a wonderful dining experience at McCormick and Kuletos. After a very brief wait to be seated, we were shown to a lovely table by the window, overlooking the bay and Alcatraz. Our server Patrick was very professional. We ordered a bottle of wine, and never felt rushed through our meal. The soups arrived piping hot, and the main courses were expertly prepared. In short, a very lovely evening, and we were very pleased to have chosen this beautiful restaurant."

  • "I donwgraded my rating of the Food to FAIR due to my entree. I'll first say that both appetizers that we shared at the table were outstanding - the lobster bites and the shrimp kiss. The entree was one of the chef's specials, and while the scallops were marvelous, the bed of greens below the scallops were bitter and unexciting, and pretty much ruined the plate. The butternut squash was served mashed, and laid under the greens, so even that got some of the ruin. Had our waiter been by to check on us once he delivered the meals, I might have chosen to return it, but he did not come by. We found the server a bit aloof, and hard to find. We had to ask passing by wait or service staff for water, bread, our wine. Service=fair."

  • "This restaurant went above and beyond, making special arrangements for our anniversary, seating and special menus...not to mention the outstanding food and dessert on the house! From top to bottom this place was the very best!!"

  • "We took my mom for her 87 th birthday to San Francisco and this restaurant was recommended by a friend. It was a perfect place to celebrate."

  • "Having been at the Restaurant a couple of years ago and leaving raving about the food and service when we were returning to San Francisco again we told our friends we need to go back. After being seated and sitting for 15 minutes our waiter came and asked for our dinner orders, we had not even been offered a drink yet. We had to ask for a second drink. When dinner was served the waiter asked one person having pasta if they wanted Parmesan Cheese when that person said no he walked away and did not ask the other person. The food was fantastic and the dinner unbelievable but the service was much to be desired. We left feeling we were an after thought from the staff. It was a Tuesday night and when we were there it was not that busy."

  • "Went here to celebrate son's 16th birthday. We all loved the atmosphere, high ceilings, view of the bay. Lovely decor, great menu with lots of choices. Friendly professional service."

  • "Good food is when you can taste the ingredients, the freshness, the cook's patients in cooking the food just right. Not too long. Not in a hurry. The presentation of my linguine with clams in white wine sauce was appealing. Really enjoyed the lunch. Of course the view of San Francisco bay and bridge where the sky's blue. It's so picturesque. This view can make any difficult discussion go smoothly!"

  • "I made a reservation for my birthday and to my surprise, I arrived to see custom printed menus. They sat my party at a corner with a nice scenic view. It was a nice evening."

  • "Perfect brunch place to take out of town visitors because the view is fantastic. After dining walk in Aquatic Park and Fort Mason."

  • "The food was good as all McCormick and Schmiks but the view was incredible. The service was great on Friday when we were there for lunch but the server was a little distracted on Sunday Brunch. 2 large private parties happening. I would recommend this place for quintessential post card San Francisco bay view. Ask for table 7 or 27 or a "Hollywood Table"!"

  • "Had brunch food was very good. Bloody Mary was excellent. Relaxed atmosphere and a great view. Enjoyed it immensely."

  • "Normally, in my reviews to open table I do not contact the restaurant directly. However, I feel that the service we received and the ambiance was so outstanding, that it merits contact with the establishment. This was a very special lunch for our family. The wait staff could not have been more considerate or helpful and I truly appreciate how wonderful our waiter was. He was attentive without being overbearing and truly added to our dining experience."

  • "We spend a lot of time in San Francisco. While we have many local favorites, this is a place where you get a little bit if the touristy feel with good food and great service!"
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "This the place you go to when you need to please everybody, the food is good and well prepared, the dining room is somehow spacious and intimate at the same time. Other than having to wait for the hostess upon arrival. The staff here provides excellent service and if you need it just ask, they are very accommodating. If you have out of town guests bring them for lunch, brunch or an early dinner, with its giant windows facing the bay the view one of the best in the city. It's just an all around winner and it has stayed that way. So enjoy the view, the service and the food, and hopefully you will leave feeling just as relaxed and satisfied as I always do"

  • "I have been to this restaurant on three or four occasions and have had the same great experience with the food, service and especially the view of the bay. My only complaint is the distance to the bathrooms."

  • "Enjoyed the ambiance, but the food was just okay. About what you would expect in a tourist location."

  • "We had an amazing dinner for my birthday. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. Not only was our waiter good but so respectful. Something you do not find anymore even in the most elite restaurants. You would definitely get my vote for best restaurant."

  • "The restaurant is beautiful and the view is pretty spectacular from any table. The food was good but with this being a tourist spot, it definitely is on the expensive side for what you get. Staff was friendly enough. Go for the view!"

  • "Very nice restaurant with a great view. Perfect for a romantic special occasion. For your birthday they print or custom menus with your name on them, nice touch!"

  • "We went here for lunch on Sunday and found out they only do brunch on Sundays. Thankfully, the chef accommodated our lunch requests and we were able to order a select few things off of the lunch menu. We were very glad they made this accommodation for us. Our server was in training and was a little unaware of what was going on. The server training him was fantastic."

  • "Although we waited a long time for our reserved table in a very crowded entry way, the food and service once we were finally seated made up for our initial discomfort. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and the wine list included a good variety if prices as well as types. All three of us enjoyed our entrees immensely."

  • "Even with a reservation, we had almost an hour wait. Once we were seated, that memory disappeared and we enjoyed a very nice meal with a lovely view."
