My second visit to it. Well prepared, excellent wait staff. Food was good to outstanding, My prawn cocktail appetizer was crisp succulent jumbo shrimp, with a really good sauce, followed by a mixed beet salad (good but I've had better), and then some sauteed diver scallops that were seared to perfection on a bed of buttered cauliflower puree. The puree was really awesome though slightly underseasoned. Two friends had ribeye steaks that they said were really great, another had a decadent looking wedge salad. The view is spectacular of the San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz. Only thing is - do not let them seat you in an area of large tables. We were sat in one server's section who had 5 large tables and we were his only two top and the service as if we were a last thought. Had he been on his game he would have been able to add four more cocktails to our bill.

We started the meal with escargot, just because we have not had that appetizer in a long time. They were fine - maybe a little predictably chewy. He requested no onions and when it came with onions, the waiter apologized profusely, ordered another and gave us a bowl of clam chowder. Very professional and very nice. I am a local so frequent both venues often and can vouch for the consistency of both establishments.
Yesterday we had Cioppino- full of various fish, shrimp,crab and scallop, Grilled halibut- nice and crusty but tender and moist, succulent sturgeon and a crispy crepe filled with mahi and salmon. The garlic mashed potatoes were divine.

But you need to pass up all the pretenders along the wharf itself and go to Ghiradelli Square to find McKormick and Kuleto's. There you will find not only a table with a killer view but the freshest fish expertly handled and wait staff that know their business.
This is my go-to restau to bring out of towners and it never disappoints.
If you have room for dessert, you cannot beat the hot fudge sundaes at nearby Ghirardelli Chocolate. Well, our waiter was so awful & we were celebrating such a special occasion , that it counted for 90% of our experience at the beginning! My husband got up to talk with Maitre D' and the problem was fixed instantly & completely ... Thank goodness for that ! You cannot turn back the clock on such a special occasion as celebration my son's first communion & once it is truly spoiled by a waiter's attitude and service ..... There's absolutely nothing anyone can do!
The rest of our celebration was how we envisioned it to be!

I made reservations through OpenTable and requested a window seat. I had a friend visting San Francisco for the 1st time and I really wanted to dine at a restaurant that had good food with an excellent Bay View.
McCormick and Kuleto's did not disappoint. It was a great dining experience from the service to the food. Excellent!!!
The watress was very attentive and made some really great food suggestions.

Once that group left, the service and atmosphere improved dramatically. The food was excellent by all accounts. The chocolate bag (more like an open box) was incredible. The bottom was a very thick dark chocolate and that dessert would be suitable for sharing among a group of six.
We had trouble flagging cabs home from the restaurant. The restaurant maitre-d had arranged a limo for us when we asked for 2 cabs. The limo would have been very pricey compared to normal cab fares. On the contrary, the food is consistently good and the view is spectacular. Even though it was dark (our flight arrived late) we were still seated by the window which provided fabulous views of the lights in Sausalito as well as the evening tour boats.
