Diner Reviews
  • "Should have known by the food that this restaurant was a little more upscale than what my fiancée and I are used to. The food was absolutely amazing though! Won't be coming back but I highly recommend going if amazing food and a classy atmosphere are your cup of tea. "

  • "Too expensive for the quality on food. We got the 4 courses and they repeat ingredients and sauces. also, Lemoncello was charged after 400 $ bill."

  • "The service is nice but not prompt. Really nice NY strip steak. Great sauce combination."

  • "Our party of four had a late lunch there, and the entire experience was great! We were seated right away, the service and staff were prompt and friendly, and the food was excellent! Everything we expected from a Gordon Ramsay Restaurant! I loved the decor, it was calm, serene, yet the atmosphere was quite alive and energetic. "

  • "We visited the restaurant as we completely enjoyed our experience at Ramsay's Versailles Waldorf establishment. Our expectations were high yet we were totally and completely disappointed. The food and menu were not worth the effort or consideration, cost or expense in being there. We intend to write Ramsay expressing our disbelief that his name could possibly be associated with such a dismissal and worthless restaurant. of the 5 at dinner we all will denounce the place warning all within earshot to STAY AWAY!"

  • "We ordered the hamburgers which were supposed to come with English Cheddar. They arrived without the cheese. Waiter said he was not aware that they should have cheese. He took mine back for cheese and brought my husband 2 slices on a plate..looked like Krafts's.I had previewed the menu online, I was aware that the burgers also came with mayo. This was not indicated on the restaurant's menu. I said "hold the mayo". I asked for grilled onions as well. Waiter said they were included on the burger. Again, this was not listed on the menu! Why not? On a positive note, our burgers were delicious and cooked "medium" to perfection! Waiter asked if we wanted dessert. We declined...and he took off. I wanted coffee, but he was no where to be found."

  • "The Maze has change. No more tapas size dinner. The food is good but more simplificated than previously. It's a pity. The service was just ok... :("

  • "Maybe this is cultural but I thought we were in a race. Everything happened quickly - but we were not in a rush. I am sure we would have been out in an hour if we had not spoken to the adjoining table. Everything else was great but the rush felt as though they wanted to get you through this and on to the next one. I won't be back."

  • "We had been there several times in the past and dinner was usually ok.. This time, as sometimes in the past, we both ordered from the prix fixe dinner menu My chicken dish was "blah" and the scallops in my wife's "risotto and scallops" were almost imposible to find. When the wailter cleared the table we mentioned the disappointment my wife had with her dish.. He tried to make amends by bring us an additional dessert. A nice touch but it will be a while before we return."

  • "This was my second time at the maze, and my last. On holiday from England for my husbands 50th birthday. The service was poor, food was served far too quick. The starter being served and I still haven't finished my appetiser!! Red wine served at the same temperature as the white. Rare steak served med/well done. I even had to request the main be put on hold the food was coming out that fast. The request went on deaf ears. I have eaten at many restaurants some with Michelin stars some with none. For the price paid I felt that this is the worst one so far. The bar staff however were spot on with there customer service."

  • "The food was ok but not great. I was expecting more from a Gordon Ramsey restaurant, especially given the high prices. Location was good for an afternoon matinee in the theater district."

  • "We visited Maze whilst on a trip to New York to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary. Initially we'd been concerned around some unfavourable reviews but our experience was simply amazing. From the moment we arrived we were treated like VIP's. The service was just right, attention and plenty of it without being overbearing or intrusive. We had scallops to start and they were perfectly cooked and then Steak and Chicken to follow. Wine is served by the glass and although we initially thought this was odd we realised that it meant you could savour the exact wine required for each course rather than ordering a bottle and having to stick with it throughout the whole meal. We'd return in a second, it was worth every dollar!"

  • "While I know its the more affordable Ramsay resto in NYC, I was disappointed by the lack of service and overly salted food. The waiter did not explain the different types of meats and cheeses on the meat/cheese platter - and it could have used some condiments (mustard, pickles). We had ordered wine with the entree but it only arrived as we were finishing eating it. The tagliatelle was over salted to the extreme. Decor was bland."

  • "The food is very good, but the service is not at all, I had calling some times to the waiter to attend me, he never offer me a drink, not even a dessert. I've been in the Gordon Ramsay at Londond West Hollywood, and despite the service was a little bit better, here in the Maze seems to be a problem."

  • "Food was delicious but Chef Gordon might have thrown a few expletives if he had seen how slow the service was!"

  • "Maze is the off-lobby restaurant for The London hotel. Clean lines, good meet & greet location. Evening cocktail service was brisk and staff adjusted well to the comings and goings of our party. Scotch list could use a few more selections. Didn't give the interesting menu much of a workout; for our business lunch my guest and I each had a crisp endive salad topped with Caesar dressing and a coddled egg. Now realize should have mixed in the egg to enhance the dressing. Server might have suggested that. Scallops and crab cake were both perfect. Service was a bit too slow for a business lunch. A touch pricy even by NYC standards but a great location for an upscale hideaway half a block east of Avenue of the Americas."

  • "We were in NYC from London for the weekend only for my husbands 40th. I booked a table at Maze for this special occasion and was incredibly disappointed. The atmosphere was non existent, the service was awful, the food terrible and badly served. It was a small menu and I was astounded to be told that one of the starters wasn't available - there was only a choice of 4 to begin with!! To top it all off I had booked ahead for a special surprise pudding for my husbands birthday and checked all was ok on arrival for it too- they totally mucked up and ended up forgetting it and I had to remind them in front of my husband. Surprise ruined. I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN AND WILL NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE"

  • "Good place to dine either before the theater or for a relaxed dinner. Great service and delicious food. Very accommodating start to finish. One of the diners had special food requirements and they were delightful about meeting them. We spent an unhurried time over one good food course after another with a very engaging waiter who knew when to chat and when not to. We will return."

  • "My girlfriend and I visited Maze on our recent trip to NYC, as we are big fans of Gordon Ramsay. The food definitely did not disappoint! She had the Chicken Breast, which was immaculately cooked -- juicy, flavorful, with perfectly crisped skin. I had the Bay Scallop Risotto, which was the perfect combination of rich and savory. The portion sizes were enough to leave you satisfied but not so large that you were overly stuffed or so small that you were hungry immediately upon walking out of the restaurant. I would highly recommend Maze to anyone visiting the NYC / Midtown area. Don't be turned off by the slightly higher prices -- the food is well worth the cost! Delicious!"

  • "I have been to Mr. Ramsay's restaurant on vacation in London (his first restaurant) and the food as well as the service was that of Kings!.... It was a once in a lifetime meal and my wife and I bragged about it for months after. I would of died happily after that dinner but i have a far different opinion of Maze. It was a bit tacky but the service was amazing. The food was dreadful, my beef wellington was cold and lacked taste, the cheese and meat app. was something you can pick up from the local 7/11. We had the cheese app. in London and were smitten with options and tastes. When i think Gordon Ramsay i always assume fine dinning experience but Maze was anything but that. It was our Anniversary dinner and to say the least it was a flop."

  • "This was FANTASTIC from start to finish. At the bar we stepped out of "our box" and ordered recommendations from bartender. The drinks were so fantastic we ordered another round for dinner. Dinner was simply AMAZING. The crab cake, the grilled watermelon salad, the beef wellington, the desserts...one word AMAZING! The staff was so friendly and hospitable...that they rounded the evening out to quite honestly...PERFECTION! I cannot wait to return!"

  • "My friend and I were in town for one night and thought we try Chef Ramsey's restaurant as we are fans of his show. The food was thoughtful, and the flavors distinct the service however, was poor. Our waiter was not knowledgable about the menu and had difficulty answering basic questions about the menu. The seating was extremely tight (tables for two were closely spaced against the wall) and I always felt that the couple next to us were listening in on our conversation. So if you are going with a large group, it may be a better experience. I would probably recommend it for food, but not for overall experience."

  • "Was excited to visit the resturant but wasn't impressed by the food at all. Beef carpaccio, risotto and scallops were bland and lacking flavor. The squash salad was probably the only item that was o.k."

  • "We have become regulars for the past 4 years however this time may have been the last. Main reason for this was the change in the menu. It was very limited compared to before and not many good choices. The menu conveyed to me of a restaurant on its way to failure."

  • "If you are looking to splurge on a visit to NYC this is the place to go. The beef Wellington for two is divine! The meat and pastry melt in your mouth and have such wonderful flavors you don't even need the sauce. I would definitely return. Pricey, but well worth it. I recommend going around 5pm. Not too busy"

  • "We were staying at the London NYC and decided to dine in. The dishes are wonderfully crafted and the service was very attentive. This can be casual or dress up and children can find something on the menu as well. The preparation and presentation were excellent."

  • "Went during the Restaurant Week and disappointed with very limited choice, like only 5 items for a 3-course meal, one of which is the common "fish & chips" and presented not even in a nice way, rather all stacked up like a diner instead of a fine restaurant! The restaurant hardly challenged itself. And service is so bad, very slow and given that the restaurant was not even half-full for a busy lunch time, waiters have to be coached for service"

  • "Gordon Ramsey needs to Kitchen Nightmares his own place. The food here was terribly salty and one dimensional. I had the cauliflower soup and it was pretty gross (super salty soup with random golden raisins in it and a oil slick on top from the Parmesan - which was not needed because it just added more salt on top of salt). I also had the short rib which came with a smear of this cement-gray puree that was seriously one of the least appetizing things I've ever seen! If Gordon would have seen it he would have screamed 'GET OUT YOU DONKEY!' at the chef who prepared that. The dessert was OK, if a little disjointed (chocolate plus mango plus salt plus cookies plus raspberries etc). All in all I would not go back. Service was abysmally show."

  • "We went back for Restaurant Week since we enjoyed last year. Last year, there were several entree options (branzino, chicken, steak, etc). This year, there were 2: short ribs or fish and chips. The short ribs portion was tiny - about 3 bites - and the fish was over-battered / fries were too salty. The main reason for the low rating was the service. The only time we saw the waiter was when he kept refilling our water. Little did we know he was refilling it with pricey Evian. We were shocked when we had $40 tacked onto our tab for water. We had to flag down our waiter twice for the check and ended up walking it to the cashier ourselves - since it had been almost 2 hours! Disappointed with the Restaurant Week menu and service."

  • "Had the crab cake as an appetizer. The texture was perfect--light and fluffy. The flavor was excellent . Service was great, attentive but not obtrusive. It was a little pricey, but the food was up to standards."

  • "Overall a great experience, professional friendly service, quiet, yet vibrant ambience, nice decor, loved the MET Opera Replica chandelier above the bar. The food was delicious, very good quality, not too rich and also reasonable prices for such an upmarket restaurant. I had the chicken breast and it was just perfect. The appetizers, snack plates and soups and side dishes were also interesting and I would love to go back to try them all. The chocolate dessert was a good sizzle, not too big after a filling meal."

  • "This will probably be our last visit to Maze. The food is still high quality; however, the quantity seems to have diminished considerably over the last year or two while the price has increased. We had an excellent server, but both my husband and I left hungry."
