Diner Reviews
  • "I was in the mood for fish. The two fish offerings were branzino and fish and chips, neither of which were as appealing to me as the trout on the prix fixe menu. I would have ordered the prix fixe but they only allow it if 2 people have ordered it. I understand that but was puzzled and disappointed that they would not allow me to order the trout as an entrée ."

  • "Greeted as a valued guest by the host however, all the waiters that came to the table very disappointing as there was a language barrier and the waiters did not understand the menue. It felt like I was eating at a diner. I asked several questions about the menue and was answered with a blank stare. The food however was delicious and the presentation was appetizing. I expected more professionalism and higher standards at Gordon's Restaurant. Not the best dinning experience."

  • "My boyfriend and I came for our anniversary.. We love gordon Ramsay..we came with high expectations..most were met.. Interior was very nice romantic simple and elegant. It really didn't seem to be a gordon Ramsay restaurant his name was on some menus little bit outside and that was it..maybe he doesn't want his nam everywhere because of the sad service that service good food. We started with scallops they were delish my boyfriend said they were the filet mignon of fish lol. We had beef Wellington which was very good but felt the one in his Vegas restarant was better..but still good need a bit more flavor on the beef..pastry was very good a lil bit mushy ..dessert we ordered chocolate decadence..it was rich n good too. Service was terrible."

  • "Needs a serious update. Food is great but has the colors and the atmosphere of an Amazon Data Center."

  • "We were a 4-person family having a pre-theater menu. Food was good and tasty, nothing exceptional though. What was exceptional was service. Exceptionally lousy. The sommelier was arrogant and didn't get our wine or children's drink orders before the starter ( food was on the table when we ordered wine for the food). When I asked recommendations for scallop risotto, only answer was that he had a good sancerre - that's all. Dessert wines or coffees nobody bothered to ask. So we didn't have any. When we finally had a chance to pay, we never got the change or the bill back (waited for a good moment), so we left the tip on the table and left the building disappointed. Not an example of a Michelin restaurant that we wanted to present to our kids."

  • "My 21 year old daughter and I specifically chose this restaurant because we are big fans of Gordon Ramsey. We opted to dine early as we had planned a Broadway show following. I ordered a signature Gordon Ramsey dish, Rissoto and the corn soup. The presentation was boring for both and was blandly plated but the food had good flavor. My daughter ordered the burger, as most 21 year olds would. It was cooked perfectly and she enjoyed it for the most part. Service was excellent but the atmosphere was more of a dark and quiet place, great for the couple sitting at the bar locking lips through our entire dinner. Overall, the experience was okay, but not what I had expected from a Gordon Ramsey owned restaurant."

  • "If you want to keep a good image of prior positive experiences with other GR restaurants. Only good if you staying at the hotel and part of an all inclusive tour group..... pity!"

  • "Living in Manhattan, it's easy to become a foodie and develop a refined taste. For years I've heard of Ramsey's beef wellington but never sought it out. After finally having it at Maze, I still can't believe how amazing it was. It was single handedly the best dinner I've ever had in my life. Perfectly prepared. I only wish it was also on the menu in London's main room."

  • "As many here, my wife and I are big Gordon Ramsay fans. This was the main reason to visit Maze. We had a very good overall experience. Everything was excellent. Overall, however, we think the price is only justified because of the "experience" of going to a Ramsay restaurant. It is too pricey. We had a pre theater 3 course dinner, plus one drink each, and including tip we ended up paying over 130 dollars. Sure, the food was amazing, everyone was really kind, but not too kind that it becomes uncomfortable, the place is really hip, even romantic, I would say (dimmed lights, lounge music), but we had other similar dinners during our trip to NYC and didn't pay more than 65 dollars. Overall, though, we are happy we visited Maze."

  • "The only thing I didn't like was that you are told no sneakers, no jeans, preferably men should wear jackets. Well, let me tell you what, there were people in there with shorts and sandals and tank tops. It was really disappointing. It damaged the whole experience. It was suppose to be an upscale location. It ended up feeling like a regular restaurant with an expensive menu."

  • "We have been looking at Gordon Ramsey's TV-programs and like very much what he presents in the programs. Therefore I booked a table at his NY restaurant many months ago when we decided to go to the USA. Maybe we had too high expectations about how the food would taste. I must say we were a bit disappointed, it didn't taste extraordinary i any way.I must say my fiance from Brazil is a very good cook and her food tastes better due to better seasoning of the food. We ordered the chef's tasting menu to 75$ each and it was not worth it, I think much of it was tasteless. However, the Mosel white I ordered for the meal, was superb and the service was excellent and all the waiters and the somelier were very nice. The meal set me back 330$."

  • "Well, you have a table, you have pretty food tasting good, but only for a business meeting. There are some problems with service, and lack of personality in the place."

  • "Food was very good, service was decent however the servers did not understand the English language and wanted to take your order right away. We felt they thought this was good service but did not realize we wanted to enjoy the wine and not be pushed. Generally we enjoyed the facility and felt the food was very good, but not the waiters"

  • "I was excited to dine at the Maze, was excited to try several dishes and capture the whole experience. The corn soup was exceptional as well as the scallops. There was a problem however with the service. We ordered starters and appetizers and our waiter insisted we place our full order, that was fine but our entrees came within 5 minutes of receiving our appetizers and starters causing my Fish and chips to be soggy by the time I was done eating those my fries were cold and my fish was soggy. There was also a loud group that came in and sat behind us that was very loud no staff asked them to quiet down. They behaved as if they were at Mcdonalds. Their conversation topic was mostly about gays and interracial couples. We left shortly after"

  • "I brought my son 14 yr. old son to the Maze because he loves Gordon Ramsay. He has never been to a fancy restraunt before. It was nice to show him what kind of restraunt he should take a special date to. We both enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance. He wished he could have saw Gordon. We both enjoy trying new food so we got the chef special. Wish we had the Maze in Indiana."

  • "I very rarely go to fine restaurants, but having gone to Gordon Ramsay's Maze I can confidently say it was worth every penny. It's so refreshing to be served top quality, delicious, light, nutritious food. The restaurant had great ambience, lighting, decor, service, and most importantly food. All my guests greatly enjoyed theirs also. My whole experience was exceptional and I know I can trust anything Gordon puts his name to."

  • "The food was amazing. It was expensive but worth it for the one time we were there. The service was poor as it took forever to get anyone to come back. It took them 20 minutes before clearing our final dishes. Our food was timed well though our app plates were still on the table becasue no one cleared them before dinner came out. I had gotten a job promotion so they brought me out a small dessert. It was really tasty. I loved the food but the service was pretty awful. The drinks were way over priced as well."

  • "Quality of food did not meet my standards. Though the food presentation was beautiful. My app Salad was salty. For my main I requested a medium-well steak, but received a steak cooked medium to medium rare (it did not have an even sear). To add, the sauce was extremely salty, unacceptable. Waited 5-10 for my steak to be re-fired. My husband had finished by that time."

  • "From the diner tables with metal trim to the poor service and terrible food, the maze is a great example of how to do everything wrong We arrived 5 minutes early for our dinner reservation and had to sit in the lounge because our table in the completely empty restaurant was not ready. Service was impersonal and disjointed. I had a very average chicken fish and my husbands scallop risotto looked like a mushy bowl of oatmeal. When he asked to speak to the manager about the fact his dish was so poor, we were given an eight dollar credit on the bill. I have never seen any restaurant handle a quality issue so poorly. Stay away from this restaurant, its bad in every way possible"

  • "Came here thinking I was eating at a Gordon ramsey restaurant this had to be stellar. It wasnt. First started off by sitting down and the wait staff made sure we got our drinks right away. Next we ordered the duck tater tots which were surprisingly good. We then ordered the wellington but came to find the chef couldnt make it any warmer than rare to med rare. Oh well so I asked about getting lobster pot pie but they were out of that and out of the pasta also. It's 530 pm and you are already out of two items. Very disappointing. I ended up getting the scallop risotto which was good but lacked alot of scallop. My wife got the fish and chips and was disappointed to see the "chips" were just frozen french fries not fresh. Not 5 star"

  • "Everything was absolutely delicious! My son ordered the Diver Scallops and was in heaven! I had the Lump Crab Cake and we both shared the Beef Wellington which was my overall favorite! The staff was professional and extremely accommodating to our party of 5. Great to dine for lunch and dinner but please note that only Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays so if you want the dinner menu on the weekends, make sure to make your reservations during evening hours."

  • "Ordered off pre-theater menu. Bronzino was tiny, dry and over cooked. We were over charged - charged for dessert when it should have been part of price fixed menu. Waiter was confused throughout the dinner. Beware also they add $15 sur charge to price fix for the steak! Chose the restaurant because of Gordon Ramsey. Expected a whole lot more. Live in New York and will not go back."

  • "Read lots of reviews complaining about portion size. We found the sizes a little smaller than normal but SO GOOD! We ordered appetizers to share, salads, entrees and desserts and left stuffed. The food was incredible we felt guilty leaving anything on the plate!!!!"

  • "We were very excited to have dinner at Gordon Ramsay's Maze in New York. We had high expectations based on Gordon's TV persona. We were disappointed in our food experience. The food was good but not excellent as we had expected. It definitely was not worth the amount of money we spent. The waiter was not helpful and did not explain things well. My son wanted to order the tasting menu, but we were informed that all of us would have to order that if he did. After we "surprised" him by ordering a starter, he left to put that in, but didn't come back to the table to get the rest of our order for a long time. He was not attentive at all. When we asked about what kind of cheese was on the plate he said he didn't know and never got back with us."

  • "Why Michelin, why??? That is the question. Nothing wrong with this great restaurant so why take away the Michelin stars? Other then the waiting staff being kind off snobish and forgeting to bring the wine list, the rest was perfect. The scallops we're cooked to perfection and was accompanied by a tasty purée. The duck confit tater tots melted away in my mouth, one of my favorite appetizer, ever. For the main we had the tartare and the lobster pot pie. Great seasoning for the tartare and the quail egg was right on the money. The pot pie had the perfect balance between the lobster, the mushromm and the rest of the vegetables. The puff pastry was quite a nice touch. Gordon and staff, keep it up, I will be back, soon!!!"

  • "The food was pretty good, we tried a lot of different foods but the beef Wellington was amazing. It was the most tender piece of meat I ever had. It came with a mushroom paste in it, and I don't like mushrooms but it was great too. It's great for people that want to go out and not go too crazy. Me and my girlfriend got 3 appetizers and the Wellington for two and came out to 170 with tip. So it was great, can't do it everyday but for every once and a while it didn't disappoint."

  • "We made a special trip to Times Square on our honeymoon just so we can have the Beef Wellington. It was perfectly cooked. The flavor was excellent and the puff pastry was nice and golden brown. We had brussels sprouts and french fries for sides. The brussels had cranberries which actually made a good pairing. And the fries were perfectly crispy! We told them we were in New York for our honeymoon and they surprised us with a little dessert plate. It had some pink custard like thing with form on top. It left us with much to be desired but the mango sorbet was amazing. I wish we had more of it! The staff was friendly and helpful and the service was speedy. If we ever make it back to New York we will be going again!"
