I have visited Maysville many times. I am always pleasantly surprised at how good the food is, how perfectly cooked the fish comes out, how new and fresh the options are without being cute and how good the service is. Always consistently good food; great bar and the staff is professional and not impressed with themselves. Great ceiling lighting and the soft color it creates in the room. Only complaint is that it becomes a little too noisy when full, which is fine at the bar but a problem when you are at a table wanting to have a conversation.

I had brunch and enjoyed the ambiance, but the food was sub par. I ordered the roast pork and scrambled eggs on a biscuit. The biscuit was good, but the pork was very fatty and the scrambled eggs were cold. We got a side order of grits; the texture was very unpleasant and they weren't nicely seasoned.

I like the location and southern theme. Brunch wasn't as good as previous lunches that I had here. The grits and ham sounded interesting but wasn't very tasty. Service was friendly but a bit slow.

We have been about five times for dinner and Maysville makes the group very happy. I would recommend always to start with the grilled oysters and the flatbread. Also--there is a bar menu that has some excellent starters as well. We like the shrimp rolls and the pork mini sliders. we tend to order many dishes and share . They are very nice about this. Leave room for dessert. We had something called brown butter pear cake and also a chocolate tart dessert - really worth it. And again, we did share. The wine list recently got attention in NYT, but we usually order bourbon when we dine at Maysville.

The portion of the steak I ordered was TINY. 3 bite-sized pieces. It was truly smaller than the squash appetizer my tablemate ordered. Other than that, it was a good meal and mostly unpretentious but that was frankly unacceptable for an entree size and put me off of the whole meal.

I have loved this restaurant from its opening, with a fantastic variety of whiskies to try, and cocktails and mixed drinks that prominently feature whiskey as an ingredient. More importantly, the food is consistently outstanding, with a touch of southern flair, utilizing seasonal produce. Their heirloom tomato salad was the best I had all summer, and unfortunately, it was already off the menu with my most recent visit. It is a great place to meet after work for drinks, but also one of my favorites in the city for dinner. Their managing staff is truly outstanding, and on my most recent visit, the service was prompt but not hurried and everyone was incredibly friendly and focused on making sure we had a great overall experience.

This place was much more than we expected. We knew they would have a great selection of whiskeys and wines, but we were not prepared for the amazing, creatively prepared food. The fish was extremely fresh and the preparation was inventive, but delicious and not over the top. We loved the lamb appetizer, the wahoo entree and the artic char entree. The fish was lightly seared and raw in the center so if you are not a fan of raw fish this is not for you. Except for the very loud noise level, the place was exceptional.

At first glance it looks like a Bourbon Bar, but was pleasantly surprised at the excellent wine list and the creative menu. Service was top notch and the sommelier had great knowledge and steered us to some interesting, excellent, wines. Food was not only creative but delicious. The only issue was the noise level, as it was almost impossible to have a conversation without yelling. Would make this my regular, neighborhood hangout if only I could hear myself think.

I took a friend here who does not eat dairy. I noted this when making the reservation. Our server had been briefed about both of these before we came, and made suggestions based on what my guest could eat. We felt very well taken care of. The food was excellent. The cocktails were wonderful. It was also my guest's birthday. This was marked, discreetly, with a tiny burning birthday candle on the dessert plate. It was perfect. (Way better than having people sing at you!!) We will go back. Best times for quiet are lunches and Sunday/Monday. Other times, the noise level is "energetic."

I took my boyfriend here for a 25th bday. I was at first nervous about the small portions since he eats large meals every 2 hours. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees and were delightfully surprised to see the waiter brought us added tastings as well in between plates. The drinks were also excellent and unique to the restaurant. I especially appreciated the birthday dessert palette that was prepared. I will definitely be back here again.

Pretty much everything we had was great - totally met my Southerner standards for delicious, elevated Southern food. The crispy grits - basically fried cubes of grits - were one of the most delicious things I've eaten in a while, and the scallops appetizer was amazing as well. Ditto the crispy oysters. I loved the cornbread before the meal and the truffles after. The cocktails were perfectly mixed. The only downside was that the service was a little slow at pretty much every point of the meal - we had to wait around 10 minutes for each drink order, including the whiskey we ordered straight. Our waiter was not particularly friendly. Would recommend eating here once, but ambiance/crowd is very new, rich, boring Manhattan.

I could go on and on about how delicious the food was. The whitefish mousse is a must try! I started with the soft-shell crab appetizer and it was the best soft-shell crab I have ever tasted. I wish that was an entree. I also had the pollock and it was also very good. I don't remember what the rest of my group (there were 5 of us) had because we did polish off 3 bottles of wine. We will definitely go back to this restaurant.

It was my second time going, the first was a really great experience, great food and service. I even remember a manager or owner coming over to ask how everything was. This time the food was still great but the service was lacking. Very slow, we even spoke about it at the table how long it was taking to get our first round. It was a Monday night so not as busy as a Thursday. When we left we noticed we were the last table to leave. The staff seemed more annoyed that we were still there than happy to serve us. We passed through the bartender and wait staff and no on even said good night or thanks for coming. I would still go back because the food really is good but I hope this last time was just an off night.

We were in the area and were looking for something yummy. For the most part we found it. Everything we ordered was good, but some of the dishes, including the corn bread they bring to the table, were excessively salty. The smoked char and the slow cooked char were excellent! The grits, steak tartar and the duck were tasty, but the amount of salt made it difficult to enjoy completely. We will defiantly give it another try.

The decibel level in here is very high -- and I do mean VERY high. We are older than the typical clientele but not old fogies, still it was hard to hear each other seated closely together. Food was very interesting and high quality. The service is very attentive and accommodating. They were quite embarrassed to get my order wrong (delivered oysters rather than scallops) and then they ran out of scallops and could bring me only one. It was not charged for and I got to select something else. Slightly odd experience but the people-watching is great and I enjoyed a very nice cocktail (there with non-drinkers, alas). Wish NY restaurants would recognize and highlight CA wines, especially Chardonnays!

My husband is a huge bourbon fan, so we wanted to try this spot. It did not disappoint. The huge selection of bourbon is nice to have, and the cocktails are nice, but the star here at Maysville is the food: absolutely perfect flavors on a nicely curated menu meant to pair with the drinks. We tried four dishes tonight, the cornbread and the small plate of after dinner sweets. There was not a thing we did not like. I definitely need to come back to try out the other items on the menu. Clearly, there is culinary magic at work in the kitchen here and the chef will soon be, if not already, a huge name in the NYC food scene. Thank you, Maysville, for making date night really worthwhile. I cannot recommend this place enough! 5 stars!
