The food is excellent new American Southern (but not BBQ) Don't expect ribs and brisket. The calling card of the place is the massive 100+ bourbon/whiskey list that can be ordered in one or two ounce portions... great opportunity to try and compare obscure high end hooch and match it against Jim Beam and Old Crow.

The moment you taste the hay smoked oysters, your life will change. Their interpretation of grits is inspired ... and the flatbread with crispy pig ears is not to be missed. At lunch, sandwiches rule -- whether boudin (amazing) or pulled pork. Did I mention the 200 whiskeys and associated cocktails? Try a Nor-easter - you can't have just one. I took colleagues from New Zealand, London and Minnesota ... they all now want to move to NYC.

Very tasty food - have had chicken-under-brick, sausage and fish... and appetizers, and great cocktail list (bourbon-centric). Very attentive and helpful service, and they were super accommodating about pushing back our reservation when my business colleague was a half hour late. Bar is very active, and immediately adjacent to dining area, so it's noisy. Not a place for a quiet conversation. My colleague had never been there, and was very positive on the food & experience.

We recently took our son and his girlfriend to Maysville and was pleasantly surprised to find a friendly, competent and well informed bar tender, a gracious and attentive server, and a menu that hit the spot. Innovative menu selections (poached egg in brioche with brightly colored collard greens, succulent, warm sugar doughnuts) made the restaurant the perfect choice for our Sunday brunch.

Went for brunch menu is limited to about 5 or 6 entree's, out of those they could not make one of them. Evidently a poached egg can't be re-invented:) As far as the other dishes they ran out of certain ingredients also.

I had a new business lunch here with a prospective client nearby - both she and I really enjoyed it for lunch. The waitress was able to make decisions to two diners (us) who were up for anything. We had the grits and prosciutto appetizer - so so good. Lunchtime is quiet, can hold a conversation and not packed at all (which is my worst nightmare at lunchtime in Manhattan). I've also had brunch here - now just have to top it off with dinner next time.

Maysville takes the old comfort food of the South and creates delicious new flavors. the oysters over hay and the crispy grits are fantastic, although we found the fritatta underwhelming. main courses are fine as well, the brick chicken being moist and flavorful, and the pork belly tender and addictive. The place is hopping, the energy vibrant, the crowd mostly young and attractive, and by the appetizer you don't notice the noise level anymore. And somehow our waitress or waiter, each time we've gone, has managed to be attentive and personable amidst the din and throng of people. i'll be going back.

Kudos to Maysville for the excellent service and the High West recommendation. While we definitely looked like we were from out of town, everyone took great care of us. The crispy grits with ham was delectable. The poached lobster, divine (just wish there had been more of it). The place had a great vibe and any kind of bourbon you could want.

Best trout I've ever had in my life including what I fished myself. Fantastic whiskey cocktails. Expansive list of whiskeys and ryes and scotches. Knowledgeable waitstaff. Beautiful bar. Perfect lighting. Perfect amount of liveliness without excessive noise. I would go here every week if I could afford it. But totally worth the money. Excellent place for date night or group of friends. You can have a conversation without yelling but there is still a lot of life in the place.

The food was great, the bloody marry too, but what resonated with us most was how pleasant of a brunch this was - we haven't come across such great service in a while! Very attentive waiters, yet without being naggy. Food came out promptly, and any special requests we had were treated with wonderful regard. Really, could not have asked for a better start for the weekend. Thank you Maysville!!! Oh, and a ridiculous whiskey list - amazing!!!!

this was my second brunch at mayesville; the first time was a little slow but that was ok and the food was great!! ( i had also been there for dinner and had amazing service and a great meal!!!!) this time the restaurant ws probably 65% or a little less full yet it took almost an hour to get our food. While we waited and waited we noticed only two tables get food. then two large bags of food where brought out as a take out and we realized why we were waiting sooooo loooong! the wait made the meal a disapointment. we asked when we would be served and where told twice; soon. then we were offered donoughts; no thanks we want our food! then a fish spread; hello we dont like fish!!! they should have offered to refill our bevreges instead. AND no one ever checked on us...we had to ask twice where our order was. so; food good but service a disaster! there was plenty of staff; clear;y a problem in the kitchen!!!

I have visited Maysville many times. I am always pleasantly surprised at how good the food is, how perfectly cooked the fish comes out, how new and fresh the options are without being cute and how good the service is. Always consistently good food; great bar and the staff is professional and not impressed with themselves. Great ceiling lighting and the soft color it creates in the room. Only complaint is that it becomes a little too noisy when full, which is fine at the bar but a problem when you are at a table wanting to have a conversation.

I had brunch and enjoyed the ambiance, but the food was sub par. I ordered the roast pork and scrambled eggs on a biscuit. The biscuit was good, but the pork was very fatty and the scrambled eggs were cold. We got a side order of grits; the texture was very unpleasant and they weren't nicely seasoned.

We have been about five times for dinner and Maysville makes the group very happy. I would recommend always to start with the grilled oysters and the flatbread. Also--there is a bar menu that has some excellent starters as well. We like the shrimp rolls and the pork mini sliders. we tend to order many dishes and share . They are very nice about this. Leave room for dessert. We had something called brown butter pear cake and also a chocolate tart dessert - really worth it. And again, we did share. The wine list recently got attention in NYT, but we usually order bourbon when we dine at Maysville.

The portion of the steak I ordered was TINY. 3 bite-sized pieces. It was truly smaller than the squash appetizer my tablemate ordered. Other than that, it was a good meal and mostly unpretentious but that was frankly unacceptable for an entree size and put me off of the whole meal.

I have loved this restaurant from its opening, with a fantastic variety of whiskies to try, and cocktails and mixed drinks that prominently feature whiskey as an ingredient. More importantly, the food is consistently outstanding, with a touch of southern flair, utilizing seasonal produce. Their heirloom tomato salad was the best I had all summer, and unfortunately, it was already off the menu with my most recent visit. It is a great place to meet after work for drinks, but also one of my favorites in the city for dinner. Their managing staff is truly outstanding, and on my most recent visit, the service was prompt but not hurried and everyone was incredibly friendly and focused on making sure we had a great overall experience.

This place was much more than we expected. We knew they would have a great selection of whiskeys and wines, but we were not prepared for the amazing, creatively prepared food. The fish was extremely fresh and the preparation was inventive, but delicious and not over the top. We loved the lamb appetizer, the wahoo entree and the artic char entree. The fish was lightly seared and raw in the center so if you are not a fan of raw fish this is not for you. Except for the very loud noise level, the place was exceptional.
