Maynards Market + KitchenMaynards; expensive, fantastic menuA lovely evening for outdoor dinning; passing trains are very noisy, but part of the atmosphere! Our dinners were extremely expensive, although outstanding. It's an "a la carte" menu which adds up quickly, making the total a shocker. The wine pour was too little.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe truly enjoyed the Mother'sWe truly enjoyed the Mother's Day brunch. It was way too much food.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent French food withExcellent French food with a nice atmosphere. Friendly service. Small but good wine list. Reasonably priced.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood show!I took my middle daughter there for a dinner before the theater - it was timed perfect without a flaw or delay between courses. Server was knowledgeable and a sense of team resounded throughout. I have been here on several occasions and will most likely be back soon. Thanks4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMaynards is one of my favsMaynards is one of my favs in the whole country, really superb French.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA Nice Evening OutMy husband and I were staying at the Congress Hotel and heard about Maynards being a great place for a romantic dinner. Service was fabulous, our server (from Germany) was spot-on the entire night! The ambiance was wonderful as well. We arrived at 7:45 and were able to listen to the duet of musicians play until 8:30. Noise was a little loud because of the music but fortunately, it was good music and we could still carry a conversation at the table.
My only critique is that my husband's steak, which was pricey (about $36.00 a la carte) was tougher than anticipated for the price. There was gristle around the edges as well. This was the only disappointing part of the meal. The cornish hen dinner was delicious and I'd highly recommend4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, Maynards MarketAs always, Maynards Market was excellent. We enjoyed a brunch with great selections on the menu. Very good, attentive waiters.
We have enjoyed dinner several times there and look forward to our next visit.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good but I thoughtFood was very good but I thought it was a bit pricey. Probably won't go back.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe forgot my pice of cake.We forgot my pice of cake. When we went back for it, they had thrown it out, but the cut a new piece and gave it to us to take hoome. Susan Glass3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I along withMy husband and I along with our 2 sons enjoyed our Easter Brunch. The quality of the food was amazing and the variety on the Brunch menu was also very nice.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant was a find. This restaurant was a find. I just looked in the 3A travel book and looked for something downtown. It sound fun and interesting. Both my husband and I enjoyed our dinners. We would recommend this place. Unfortunately, we do not live in Tucson, AZ.
The only negative was the road construction going on the area. Street lighting was poor so it was difficult finding your way around. Signage was poor. Hopefully the construction will be finished someday and everything will be back to "normal".3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOld depot cafe pros & consPerfect for pre-concert dinner. Got us out at time we requested. Wonderful onion soup.
Trees and shrubs sure are growing. Getting hard to watch the trains go by. Impossible to make reservations by phone....on-line seems to be the only way. Formerly served a great gourmet flatbread no longer on the menu. Valet parking practically mandatory.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely room with great feel.Lovely room with great feel. The food was very good except for the Hot Chocolate/cookies desert which was only average. Otherwise we would highly recommend Maynards.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about MaynardsEverything about Maynards is excellent including the food and service. However, the lower dining area is way too noisy with the type of music and volume of music. My wife and I could not carry on a conversation. The squeaky violin was especially annoying. My wife had to turn her hearing aids off because the the noise from the violin was grating to her. We are music lovers and were having dinner prior going the Symphony at the Music Hall. Keep the music soft and resonable for all not just the young who are used to noise called music.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDuck confit! We love this place and love the Poutine! Great staff wine list, and service. Maynards is a gem!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrate life at Maynard's!Maynard's is one of my favorites in Tucson. The daily specials are always a delight, and the regular fare is always excellent. Start with a nice bottle of wine and the chef's selection of cheeses and accompaniments and you are on your way to a memorable meal. The staff is well trained and add to the experience.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA pleasant evening by the tracksThree trout specials and a filet mignon came to our table. The trout was outstanding. With its size it could have been mistaken for a very mild piece of boneless salmon. The accompanying garnishes were tasty and interesting. The fillet was cooked just right and the flavor was quite good, but there was just a little gristle. We weren't in a hurry,a good thing because the wait time seemed a bit long.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent but pricey foodWe had another delicious meal at Maynards on Valentine's Day. The PNW oysters-on-a-half-shell appetizer were extremely tasty and fresh, per usual, though not inexpensive at nearly $3 each. The fish special, a striped sea bass, was exquisite, though it was also pricey at $37. The wines-by-the-glass were high quality and the waiter was extemely knowledgeable thereof. The wait staff continues to improve at Maynards. The creme brulee dessert was top-notch, per usual. I would recommend splitting because it is large. For us, Maynards ranks in the top tier of Tucson restaurants. We would dine here more often if it were a tad less expensive.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
