Maya - New Yorkgreat food, somewhat priceythe food was great. we had the guacamole, flautas and tortilla soup. Everything was very good, tasty and not too greasy. The ambience is good although we prefer more room between tables.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe started with tres antojitosWe started with tres antojitos tasting, which we shared with 3. The tasting is delicious, especially the chile relleno. The especialidades are amazing. My favourite was the carne asada. Perfectly prepared and it looked very nice on the plate. My friends had the chipotle camarones, which looked amazing and tasted delicious and the chicken breast adobada. Their margarita'a are also definately worth trying. I really liked the yucatan, though it might be to soicy for some and liked the mercado with tamarind taste. Service was also very good and thw waiter did a great job in helping us pick our dishes and drinks. This is certainly not the average mexican restaurant, which I usually don't like that much. I would recommand this to anyone. Enjoy!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great ! InterestingService was great ! Interesting twist on food choices!
!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was pretty good, butFood was pretty good, but it was very loud and quite dark.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently goodMaya has become our favorite restaurant on the upper East side. Energetic crowd, great drinks, and wonderful food! I recommend all shrimp dishes and the jalapeño margaritas. Novelle Mexican food.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh MexicanGuacamole was fresh & delicious. My chicken enchilada
was a generous portion & excellent. Margaritas were pricey with very little alcohol.
Desserts too were very pricey. Overall good food & very vibrant NY scene.
Would return but avoid the drinks.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGo!First they are honest! Forgot my credit card. Had it next day. Food and drinks great. More sophisticated Mexican food. Live in neighborhood. Everyone goes. Great to bring 20-40 out-of-towners to get off the tourist track and enjoy an Upper East Side good ethnic spot.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMEarly Cinco de MayoWent for dinner the Sat nite before. Odd gaucamole presentation but tasty! "Regular" margaritas are more than ones with extra ingedients on food menu. Got rather noisy....5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMaya reviewI was searching for a frozen margarita after a heavy morning sightseeing. Maya was an oasis of calm, great food and service in a bustling city. We had time to relax and watch the world go by. A great experience...and the frozen margarita? I had two!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FindMy friends and I stumbled upon Maya and it was a good find. We had a great time conversing over delicious food and friendly service.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMCocktails were especially deliciousDefinitely recommend it! Food was amazing. Drinks were amazing: Get The Maya or The Mercado!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy to see the improvementHappy to see the improvement in the menu selections since Maya renovated. We are glad we gave it a second chance because we were very disappointed when the change took place. We spent many New Year's eves and Cinco de Mayo's as well as just going when we felt like it and were not happy with the changes. Wish they could do something with the noise level!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best Mexican restaurantsOne of the best Mexican restaurants. Food is delicious and service is great!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI went with 7 friends forI went with 7 friends for the Bottomless Brunch and had a great time. Unlimited tapas and beverages for 2 hours and servers are pretty good at making sure that you don't go thirsty. The mushroom enchilada was delicious as well as the mahi mahi.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMaya: the Better Mexican for NYCMaya is a cut above the usual tacos and margarita mix which seems to be the usual New York Mexican restaurant mix. They have an inspired tequila menu, and their dinner menu is varied and original, especially for Manhattan. Their inspired guacamole is a good way to start the meal. And while their taco selection is excellent, consider opting for one of the duck or pork entrees if you find yourself at Maya. Definitely worth the trip!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is not my first timeThis is not my first time going to Maya....the food, atmosphere and the service is wonderful!
Love the place!!!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, ok drinksGreat bottom-less brunch.
The food was excellent!
The drinks were great for a bottom-less brunch, but I would've been disappointed if I had gotten those same drinks a la carte. In my book, that takes a point off for sacrificing quality.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food drinks andExcellent food drinks and service I highly recommend maya4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe $35 brunch special isThe $35 brunch special is a steal - we were full after the first round of small plates, and then our waitress brought two more rounds! I never found the bottom of my margarita glass.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for brunch!Awesome brunch special. Service was slow in the beginning because the place was packed and super busy. Food was great!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mexican ! Fab TequilaGreat Mexican ! Fab Tequila fish tacos ! great snack happy hour4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest BrunchThe unlimited Tapas & Drinks brunch is the best brunch in NYC. Great food for a great value. This is the 3rd time I have been with my family in the past year, whenever they are in town they ask to go back!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Experience-Loved the ServiceFrom start to finish-fantastic. We were 15 minutes late to our reservation, and we were easily accomidated. Great booth in the corner of the restaurant (asked, it's table "32"), and we were welcomed with pleasent service. The waiter recommended the Yucatan Margarita, which was perfect (I love spice), and a Mercado Margarita (which had hibiscus foam).
Started with the tuna guacamole which was Phe-NOM-IN-al.
Had the chicken enchiladas (a bit pricy at $20) and filet mignon (wish the cheese enchilada was more cheesy)
Finished with the peanut butter bar (marshmallow was stiff), but loved the warm churros.
What was a stand out to me, was the service. Everyone from host to busboy to waiter to manager-incredibly attentive. Will def go back3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNever a let downWe've been coming here since they first opened, and they have maintained the standards of food and service established in 1997!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best breakfast i ever had!A really good place for saturday and sunday brunch. The unlimited brunch is such a great deal. We loved the small plates.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMRecently redecorated withRecently redecorated with a contemporary decor that was fresh and chic. I miss some of the Aztec touches it once had though. Guacamole was very good. Drink prices were a little high, but maybe not for NYC.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first brunchThis was our first brunch at Maya! Fantastic! Every dish we ordered was a hit and the service was exceptional. Maya has long been a favorite for dinner. Now it'll change ALL future trips to NYC!!!3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been dining at MayaWe have been dining at Maya since Richard Sandoval opened restaurants in NYC. it's always a delicious venture.2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mexican findWent here with a group of 7, had to wait a while despite having reservations. Food was GREAT, started with the chile rellieno soooo good, amazing Mahi Mahi and my date had one of the pork dishes that was really good. Margaritas were great, service was a bit slow took a while to get our drinks. I would recommend maya bc the food was so good, hard to find Mexican this good!! Service could use a little work2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFor as great as the food andFor as great as the food and drinks were at this Mod Mex restaurant, it remained unpretentious and fun! I'd recommend this or any of chef Sandoval's restaurants! Was a great evening with my wife and 2 children.2/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe brunch special is amazing. The brunch special is amazing. The price is just right and I get to try several things on the menu. Brilliant!2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here for Valetine's dayWent here for Valetine's day dinner. Service was great! We knew we were going to be a little late for our reservation so we called and they had no problem with that. The food was delicious and the portions were decently sized. I don't know the area well so I can't compare the restaurant to other options in the vicinity, but I felt like the experience at Maya was well worth the money!2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerhaps the best Mexican IPerhaps the best Mexican I have had in NYC so far! Tasty and seemingly healthy for Mexican - didn't know it was possible...2/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Great service.Great food. Great service. Plentiful but weak drinks. I had four margaritas and was completely sober.2/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCame for restaurant week withCame for restaurant week with some friends....had a great time. We basically closed the place out! Try the maya margarita :)1/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe wait staff was the bestThe wait staff was the best I have ever encountered!!!!1/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you like Mexican you'll LOVE it!Wide variety of food that all sounded so good it took us a while to decide on one thing. The list of tequila is endless, my fiancé and I tried the mezcal flights and the man gave us the background on all of them which was fun to hear about. If you really like Mexican this is an amazing place and make sure to try their brunch it gives you a chance to sample a large portion of their menu in tapas style.1/25/2013 12:00:00 AMI moved her from the westI moved her from the west coast and finding good Mexican is tough. Maya although not a true Mexican place does make some very good Mexican tapas dishes. I highly recommend the all you can eat and drink brunch.1/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for an early New Year'sWe went for an early New Year's Eve dinner. The prix fixe menu was reasonable at $49, with a lot of interesting choices. We enjoyed all our selections, especially the beef tenderloin entree and the chocoflan dessert. The food could have been a touch warmer, suspect it sat for a few minutes before delivery. Service was so-so, although I give them some leeway as it was New Year's. But it wasn't full yet, and how can a bartender pour two glasses of cava from a previously-opened bottle and not notice it was totally flat - no foam, no bubbles? Still, I would return as the food is good and it's a nice option in a neighborhood of little choice besides Italian and sushi.12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMso many small plates so little timeRichard Sandoval has done it again the small plate tapas brunch with bottomless mimosas and margarita Brunch is FAB - Nelson is a great waiter - I'd ask to be seated in his section when you make the reservation - my favorite is the Ceviche -octopus-scallops-shrimp-onion-cucumber-cilantro-avocado-bloody mary sorbet12/29/2012 12:00:00 AM
