Maya Del SolWe've been to Maya Del SolWe've been to Maya Del Sol several times love the food and vibrant atmosphere. In the past, their appetizers have always been a big hit but this time we tried a special pork dish they had which was just awful. The pork was tough the seasonings didn't work and when our server asked how we were enjoying the special we were honest. The manager came up to our table concerned and we expressed our constructive criticism. They not only eliminated the appetizer charge but comped us on our desert. Any restaurant can have an off night or meal, what sets Maya apart is their outstanding service and concern for making things right. We'll be back again and I'm sure our meal from appetizer through to desert will be outstanding.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI Trust This PlaceMaya Del Sol - a great spot for dinner and conversation. My party of four had reservations and were seated right on time. The service was great, the drinks as good as I have ever had, and the variety of food choices made it difficult to choose from so many good options. By the time we left -7 PM - the place was hopping. I strongly recommend reservations (I made mine through Open Table on the Internet). Moderately priced. There was valet parking which I'd recommend since on street parking in the neighborhood is limited. Near the el and major streets. You won't go wrong with this choice.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service and fine foodMy friend and I arrived for our reservation and were told they do not accept reservations for the patio. Since I had specifically asked to be notified is this was not a possibility Paul, a manager, promptly apologized, promised to take care of us, and then made good on his promise. What could have been an inconvenient, unpleasant evening turned into a fine meal. We shared 2 small ceviches and both were excellent. The scallops were a bit spicy and the fish was sweet. We then shared fish tacos and the vegetarian tostada and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either. Instead of taking this restaurant off the list, Paul has made Maya del Sol a restaurant I will continue to recommend. And the patio is the bet in Oak Park5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food, service, andOutstanding food, service, and outdoor patio!!!! Our waiter Mike was one of the best waiters I have ever been served by !!!!!!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite placesOne of my favorite places to dine. I highly recommend ordering from the Specials menu. I also recommend trying something different than you would normally order. I have never had a bad meal and have always cleared my plate. You will not be disappointed.
I live almost 50 miles from Maya and it is worth the drive.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways delicious! The veggieAlways delicious! The veggie enchiladas are outstanding and my husband had the monkfish special and he loved it. I also had them cater my wedding and Jennifer their catering manager was my favorite of all the vendors we worked with. We love this place.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA Neighborhood GemThis place is a great find in Oak Park! Not your typical "Mexican Restaurant" at all. The food is inventive and delicious. When the weather is nice, grab a margarita out on their patio. It is a wonderful place to hang out with friends.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNo many people clearing awayNo many people clearing away your plates and sometimes before I was finished. I felt very rushed to turn the table.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is always great hereFood is always great here and the service is exceptional. I had a question about the flavor of a dish on the menu and the waitress actually brought me a sample before I ordered. She knew the menu inside and out and was able to offer suggestions and answer all of our questions. Great place and is always packed for obvious reasons.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMy family and I have visitedMy family and I have visited the restaurant on Easter and Mothers day as well as any special occasion and we are always pleased.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food that is remarkablyDelicious food that is remarkably different. Fun, spectacular flavors and wonderfully paired with sides Crowded, even on a Monday night, make reservations. Many fine wines and cocktails from which to choose. All staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Manager is present and courteous.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Gem in Oak ParkI've been to Maya del Sol several times since moving to Oak Park. It is just off the Oak Park Green Line stop. The service is always great; no one ever gets upset if we order entres as apps (hey we wanted to try it all) or stay for hours on end. The food is certainly great, but without making you feel fussy and pretencious. Everything is well presented and you can see that great care goes into every meal. I am amazed by the flavor/spice combinations that dominate the menu; the eclectic mix of savory and sweet keeps every meal unique.
The only draw back is when there is an event; get reservations in advance! This has only happened once for their "End of The World" Party on 12/12/12... Mayan End of the World/Maya Del Sol (pretty punny)3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great meal and greatAlways a great meal and great drinks. On Friday night they had a band playing. It was a little loud in bar area, but it just depends what you like.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch @ Maya del Sol...deeelish!Brunch at Maya del Sol is on par with dinner at May del Sol; always spectacular! My girlfriend and I brought my Mom, whom has never been, and she loved it. We started with the Nachos del Sol which are a MUST. Not your typical nachos, the meat is succulent with a touch of sweetness and the accoutrement don't overwhelm. I had the Bellini flight which was tasty, but only if you like Bellinis. (The Bloody flight is most excellent and comes with a beer chaser.) Mom had the Crab Benedicto, my girlfriend had the French Toast which comes with ice cream, and I had the Ropa Vieja Skillet. Our server was friendly, efficient, and gave us just the right amount of space. A "must go"; make sure to make a reservation ahead of time!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMone of my favorite spots inone of my favorite spots in the western suburbs--enjoy January specials on wine,
sangria & margaritas-- can't wait for better weather to enjoy the outdoor patio
