We went for our anniversary--gold card members get a $50.00 drinks credit. Maya del Sol seems not to be able to keep servers. Ours was there for only 3 weeks and got our order wrong. My wife ate her meal while I waited 20 minutes for my entree to come out. While I was waiting, the same server apologized to three other tables, and one table just got up and left. A free dessert doesn't cut it any more. This is the fourth time we've had very spotty service here--no more.

We stopped by for dinner on Saturday night, and were waited on by Joshua, who was an absolutely stellar waiter. He helped us select courses for dinner that we probably wouldn't have chosen on our own; both the lamb and the wine he suggested were delicious. It is wonderful to find a waiter who really cares about the food created in his or her restaurant, and considers both the entrée and the customer, when making suggestions.

... and yet another great brunch. I brought a friend who's never been to Maya del Sol for brunch, and we were very impressed with everything, from the inventive drink offerings to my fabulous mango and blueberry french toast with a side of vanilla ice cream. Ice cream for breakfast -- it doesn't get any better than that! Always a treat to dine here.

Another marvelous meal. Lucas took wonderful care of us, and we'd happily be seated in his section again. The friends we brought, who'd never been here before, talked about what a gem it is and how outstanding all the food and drinks were. All true! Collectively, we ordered the mussels, two different ceviches, the carne asada, plantains, flan and the tres leches cake, accompanied by the classic mojito, the white sangria and the el pepinito. Delicious, start to finish. We would have loved to order everything on the menu!

Drinks were delicious. Food was excellent. One of our four ordered the pork tenderloin special medium rare. She mentioned half way through that it really more medium. She said it was just fine though and was good. I mentioned to the waiter just so he could let the kitchen know. She told him it did not need to be replaced. But shortly later a manager type came over and again offered to replace it and really almost insisted. She agreed. He said he would make it a little more on rare side because he understood at this point that most of it would be going home. It came out perfect. Some medium rare and some rare which met the situation perfectly. Again we did not think it necessary, but they went above and beyond.

I found the ambiance & service here to be fine. We were happy to be offered outdoor seating. I loved the drinks-pepinito(?)-with cucumber- and that the margaritas are served 'up'. However, the food fell a bit short of what I expected. To their credit, it was served hot, presented well, and was true to descriptions- the flavors were just not to my taste. I thought the beef nachos could have been good, but the meat had a clinging, sweet-flavor. The fish tacos were our best selection-battered cod; pretty standard. I did not care for the steak; sides ok. We had 3 drinks, 3 entrees, 1 appetizer and no dessert/coffee. Bill was around $120. After a 20% tip (the server was fine and friendly) I just felt I would rather spend that amount elsewhere.

The outdoor patio is great, and the main reason to go here. It would be even better if they would pipe in the music from the live band. We couldn't hear it on the patio, but when we left, we listened for a bit and they were great! Band is too loud in the restaurant to be able to talk, but makes for a fun atmosphere. Fish tacos were awful, left most of it. Asparagus side was 6-8 tiny spears. Octopus tasty, but rubbery. Salad good, plantains very good. Drinks were tasty, and the server was nice. I like the place, but the food was disappointing.

We made a reservation for the Indoor seating, but chose to wait to see if outdoor dining became available. We ordered margaritas at the bar, then were seated outdoors much faster than expected! Nice. The specialty margaritas are served straight up- our party of 4 each ordered a different version. None of us were disappointed. The latin-fusion was unique and delicious. This is not your typical Mexican- but something quite extraordinary!

We drive from the northern suburbs and until this last venture to one of our favorite restaurants, we have never been disappointed. Our last visit included drinks that came up short (literally, ou wait or had to return to the bar to fill the glass), nachos with very little meat and an expensive main course (lamb chops) with one brussel sprout and three tiny chops. We were placed next to the kitchen and a screaming child, even though we had prior reservations. Service was slow then too fast to clean up. Couldn't wait to escape...not a relaxing experience. We won't make the trek again for quite some time. One of our favorite "Check Please" restaurants is sadly our least favorite.

Their Mother's and Father's day buffets are an exciting way to try many of the fantastic flavors the menu offers! Their Drink menu is unique and satiating! I cannot rave about this restaurant enough! I took my girlfriend here while we were visiting her family in Chicago. It was within walking distance of where we were staying and we had a great time. The food was phenomenal and the service was exceptional. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable of the food and drinks and made sure to ask if we had any allergies. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Oak Park area. It was some of the best food I have had (besides my girlfriends cooking ...+brownie) in a very long time.

overall a good brunch with friends. however, the waiter kept forgetting about us. we did not have plates for our appetizers, he would forget to return my atm card after its billed, or asking how we are doing. he did have several tables and we understand but it was irritating. he did apologize about the food mistake which was not his fault nor did we notice. it was the other stuff we noticed. The food- the ceviche, the plantanos and my hot chocolat were excellent. both my friend and i thought the chilaquiles were bland (no enough seasoning or chile). the potatoes that came with my other friend's frittata were very good, but the frittata itself was bland. i was told by another friend this place is better for dinner..perhaps another time

I would not say that Maya Del Sol is inexpensive by any stretch of the imagination. However, you do get amazing food that is worth the price IF you are going out for a nice evening / special occasion. I've never spent less than $50 for a dinner for two, but I've never left the restaurant disappointed. Everything I've tried has always been freshly prepared and delicious.
