Diner Reviews
  • "First time patron to Maxwells. Hostess was rude when we asked for a booth not to be seated at the high top table right by the front door. We were celebrating a birthday for person in his seventies and a stool with not back would not have worked for him. Although our reservation was for 7:30pm we offered to wait at the bar for table or a booth to open up. The Hostess walked away came back after a few moments and told us to follow her. Thank goodness for Ruby, our server. She was amazing and between her totally fun personality and the AMAZING food nightThe restaurant was NOT fullthat food was amazing. Ruby, our waitress as incredible and made our evening fun."

  • "The food here was awesome. Service was fast. Staff was friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a New York style slice if pizza this place was really close for being as far west as Utah."

  • "We made a reservation and were seated promptly on time. We had 9 in our group and were given ample room for everyone. We had 3 small children and they were treated with the same courtesy as the rest of our group. We ordered a cheese pizza and a second pizza with a little of everything on it. Both were divine! I personally loved the pizza with every topping - it was amazing. This is a wonderful restaurant with kid friendly tables and service. The adults in our group were appreciative of the bar and some stayed to hang out after our dinner was over. The restaurant is very clean and inviting and not too noisy or dark. We had an absolutely wonderful evening!"

  • "Delicious little sports bar, ample seating, good service. Really enjoyed the chicken parm. Only place I've found that gets NY style pizza right."

  • "Service was very good...friendly people and the cook came by the table. We were easy to find as we were the only diners there! Food portions were adequate to big....but not quite as good as Olive Garden, though prices were higher than OG. Can't think of a reason to return."

  • "Maxwell's East Coast Eatery menu is New York Italian and they hold true to the taste. We took our 3 month old and he was lulled to sleep by the ambient noise. The design is group oriented and the flat screen TVs make watching sports while eating a great pleasure. My wife and I had been craving New York style pizza since our last trip there, and Maxwell's pizza had the crispy yet soft crust that is New York pizza. Pizza by the slice allowed us to get a slice with our meal so we could sample it and try their pasta. We enjoyed how we were able to customize our pasta dishes with different sauces and meats."

  • "Just ate here with my wife for our ten year anniversary after we saw them on DDD. It was great. This is one of those local gems you hope more people frequent to make sure they stay open but in your selfish hearts you hope not too many people so you don't feel like you cant get in anymore. The pizza was spot on, we had the "goodfellas", the lasagna knocked out socks off and the chefs ravioli was the size of my hand splayed out. I will definitely be back. Its a great local joint with its own relaxed upscale unique vibe, and food that kills it, when I find places like this I always wonder how any chain restaurant can compete when something like this is with in such an easy distance."

  • "After seeing Maxwell's on Diners Drive Ins and Dives, we decided to try it for my birthday. It did not disappoint! We enjoyed the bruschetta appetizer, then had great ceasar salads followed by pasta and a meatball. The meatball was huge (great to share) and very tasty. Being from NJ, we really enjoyed finding authentic east coast fare out here in UT. Can't wait to come back and try the pizza!"

  • "Maxwell's East Coast Eatery rocks! Pizza is some of the best in town and it will fill you up unlike some of the other places who brag about their thin crust pizza. The location is perfect for this establishment. I've never been there for the club scene, but dining is a great experience."

  • "We had a party of eleven to celebrate graduation and it went very smoothly! Our service was excellent, the food came out quick and it was also quite delicious. I definitely recommend this location for large groups, and it looks like it would be a fun place to go for dinner as well!"

  • "Had a wonderful time. The food was fantastic. Great flavors. The pizza is amazing. It's hard to find authentic New York style pizza, but they hit the mark!. My friends had the Philly cheesesteaks which they loved and we all shared this giant cookie pizza thing for desert which was served hot and gooey with vanilla ice cream. They have a full bar that was busy but big enough to take care of everybody. Loved the look of the place. I didn't feel like I was in Salt Lake! Great prices. We will go again."

  • "The only issue we had was the table tops are too small. Once the food arrives there is no room for anything else. Otherwise, great food, great service and great atmosphere."

  • "I had a few friends with me to celebrate my 60th BD. I wanted local and nice. I wanted good music. I wanted quiet enough to chat with my friends. I wanted good wine. Check, check, check and check. Conn Curran and Rob Bennion were so much fun to listen to and watch. I did not really care about the service or the price. Yet, both were fantastic. We will definitely come again and I can't believe I haven't been before."

  • "We were seated at a bar height table for 2. There was not room to actually be able to eat at the table. We had to order our dinner based off of what would actually fit on our table (not a good idea given that it is a pizza place). Seems like it would make more sense if the tables would actually fit a pizza. We had the chicken parmesan and it was really good (and it fit on our mini table) lol. The lime rickies were amazing! Kind of a disappointment due to the table we were seated at. I actually made a comment to one of the servers and he just blew me off (even though there were many other bigger tables open around us). Food was great, but the whole experience could have been better."

  • "We went to Maxwell's before a Utah Jazz game. We started with some beer which was slightly under tempeture. My draft beer could have been a few degrees colder and my husband's bottled beer was warm and then he was given a glass that felt like it was just out of the dishwasher, i.e. warm. Our server was a little overwhelmed or annoyed with us as we were taking a long time to order because we were catching up with friends. But our food was served promptly and it was good. The wings were great and the pizza at Maxwell's always hits the spot."

  • "We got there early on a Friday night. The cocktails are fantastic, the lounge music playing in the background sets the tone for an upscale bar fit for the setting of the mafia in a movie. Once 10 hits though, the lounge music turns to hip hop, they clear the tables from the dance floor and the energy picks up. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and would recommend it."

  • "Maxwell's is less of a restaurant and more of a sports bar, which they do not indicate on their website. The food was fair for the price, any higher and it would have been overpriced, even with the oversized portions. All the surfaces are hard and the music was blaring, our server could not hear us while placing our order or fulfilling our needs."

  • "We made a reservation for 10. When we arrived the restaurant was mostly empty and we were seated at 2 separate tables. We tried scooting them together, but because they were on a raised platform this didn't work well (no one could be seated on the side of the table at the edge of the platform) so it was difficult for everyone to visit. Despite not being very busy, we had to get the waitresses attention multiple times. Several orders were not what was ordered. If the food was great maybe all would have been forgiven, but it was just okay. We will not be returning and I would not recommend."

  • "WOW! I had previously visited Maxwells's for dinner and we so enjoyed the pizza. Our favorite pie is still The Fat Kid pizza. However, Sunday we were in the City so we checked out Maxwell's for Brunch. The Bloody Mary Bar grabs your attention immediately, its artfully displayed with multiple garnishes and hot sauces, yummy! The brunch menu, fantastic selections and a real bargain. My husband had the Breakfast Burrito and I had Eggs Benedict - both exceeded our expectations in flavor and presentation. The portions are very generous and our server was very personable and attentive. We will be back for brunch when football season kicks off a great place to watch a game and then maybe even stick around for a slice of pizza later in the day!"

  • "Always the best place in town for pizza, however I have now discovered the other Italian Specialties including the mussels and Chicken Parm, both really delicious. As always great waiters and the managers are super friendly. But the one thing that really stands out Is the amazing Jazz duo that plays every Friday night and I think on Wednesday's also. The best jazz in Salt Lake!!!"
