Had dinner here on a Friday evening at peak time, even though the place was busy my reservation was on time which was awesome. Enjoyed the restaurant's energy and at the same time felt at-ease. The food was delish, the pork belly nachos and the fried green tomatoes were both worth a special mention! Took a shot on a bottle of wine and it turned out to be delish, was very pleased with everything.

Outstanding food and excellent service. Dined outside due to the nice weather in the Oct. Not a particularly romantic setting, but the very attentive service and food and wine quality more than made up for the setting. Reasonable prices and wine prices covered all price ranges.

We come here often for brunch, lunch and dinner. This time we had the chicken and waffles that were amazing and for the first time I had a bacon cheese burger. Sooooo good and their fries are bomb!! I love the shirts the servers wear. One says "a brunch without bubbles is just a sad breakfast." Great mimosas!

Sunday brunch was good, from the usual eggs w/ bacon to original 'Pan Borracho' (huge portion, luckily I shared)! Service was good, the coffee could be better and my biggest complaint is that it is already a noisy restaurant because of the construction, so they should calm the music down to allow conversation.

Great tasting food! The bruch menu was delicious! Friendly staff. My only complaint was no real choices for beverages if you don't dribk soda or wine. I had orange juice but it was kind of thick. Lemonade or sweet tea would be a good compliment to the menu for non drinkers. Also any items containing pork should be identified. Regardless, the overall experience was a good one. We will be back again. The fried chicken and peanut butter and jelly French toast were fantastic!

Went on a recent Saturday night, food was excellent - we had pork belly nachos, shrimp and grits, and fried chicken. For a "wine" place, list was not that impressive and high priced IMO. More of a bar vibe, could be difficult to have table conversation - also it didn't help that the tables are crammed in together. Service was adequate, not great. Manager spent more time trying to sell us take home wine bottles than helping.

I love the ambiance here. I just wish children were not allowed at certain times. I visit at least once a month. This time I did not like the service very well. The service was not up to par this time good and the food was a little cold and greasy. It has never been this way. I spent over eighty dollars including the tip. I will give it another change to see how it has changed.

A friend and I did brunch here on Sunday. They discount $10 off nice bottles of champagne to get mimosas. If you and your friend are planning to have 3 or more mimosas each or if you have party of 3 or more, the bottle is the way to go. The food was great - I got the migas omelette and my friend got the Breakfast of Champions. The bacon is crisp and delicious, no excess oil and very unique for restaurants of this size.

We came 10 mins late for our reservation but they held the table. Our dinner did not come in till one hour/10 mins later. I told the waitress the first time that this is our first time here. After a 1 hour long wait, she came back with several discrepancies such as the kitchen's fault and our orders did not come out of the screen the reason our meals were late. I then re-stated to her this is our first experience here. The wine was remarkable, the chicken was fryingly HOT!!! (rushed), the collards and potatoes were cold!, the salad was great. The desert of brownie/Peanut butter and jelly tasted like a kitchen experiment. Our order took an hour and ten minutes, but our bill came in five minutes after asking for it. I should have listened!

We went for a couples brunch and unfortunately we did not have the best experience. The "famous" wings were not at all what I expected, and those that had the mashed potatoes, greens, and eggs had cold food! The only thing that was good were the mimosas and manmosas. I was really hoping for great things with this ppace , but when food is not hot and we have to wait for 2 hours.... I'm DONE!

We had reservations for a party of 10. Arrive to find our reserved table is right next to the kitchen and bathroom. We were all fanning ourselves with the menu cards because of the heat from the kitchen. Being seated so close to the bathroom meant LOTS of passerby and severl small children who's parents had left them attended for their bathroom visit. Several of the ladies at my table ordered the pulled pork stuffed peppers which are DELICIOUS. Our waiter returned to notify us that they were all out of these peppers so we ordered an alternative option - fried chicken sliders. They were pretty good. Overall, the wine helped make our dinner enjoyable. : ) I would not dine here again with a large group. It's much better suited small groups.

I pass Max's everyday on my way to work, and decided to make reservations for the weekend my friend visited. We both loved it! She is a wine drinking, and I'm not much of a drinker. I had a glass of champagne recommended by Natasha. She brought both of us two samples, and we picked her first recommendations. Natasha was attentive, but let us enjoy our experience. She was very knowledgable, and even made recommendations for our meals. I had the shrimp and grits and my friend had the oyster nachos. Both were good, but I look forward to trying their famous fried chicken. I will definitely be back to Max's. The ambience was warm, classy, and casual. I very much enjoyed our time, and can't wait to return.

Visited Max's for a going away gathering. Our party size changed at the last minute and the hostess was able to accommodate our request with relative ease and in a polite manner. The food was delicious, as usual, and we also were lucky to have a gregarious waiter serving our table. No real complaints with this visit, except for a slight delay in receiving the check. I'd recommend Max's for a special occasion in SA, especially since they take reservations, unlike some other restaurants in town. This restaurant is busy in the evenings, so some advance planning required for parties.

We had a reservation, arrived early, and were quickly seated. Food arrived very promptly. Fried green tomato appetizer w/ peach sauce was good but we like fried green tomatoes with a savory sauce better. Needs something to cut the sweetness. The shrimp in the ceviche were mushy and it had to be sent back. The waitress did so willingly and expressed her apologies. I saw ceviche being served to another table near us shortly afterwards. Could have been a new batch? The shrimp and grits was very salty but good and rich. The hamburger was very good. Excellent fries (I swiped a few!). Caesar salad with grilled shrimp was also very good. Overall, good service but somewhat spotty food. The noise level is high, wine list is great!

This was our second time at MAX's and we chose to bring an out of town guest. The restaurant has just introduced their summer menu which is incredible. That's what they say is their specialty, and they do mean it. This last visit was the first time I've done their weekend brunch, and it was just as scrumptious as their dinner menu. I had the Pan Barracho y Huevos Locos - there aren't enough words to do it justice. While it is first and foremost a wine seller when it comes to their beverage selection, I decided to have the Man-Mosa with my brunch (microbrew wheat beer with orange juice), and it certainly hit the spot on a toasty summer day. Can't recommend this place enough.

Something started happening around January that has really just tumbled downhill. I am sad to write this... Has to be said.

We love Max's in the evening and decided to try Sunday brunch. The menu was great, and the wine specials where good too. Waffles and fried chicken wings and the fried egg sandwich were delicious. The sparkling wines specials that come with complementary juice, so you can mix your own mimosas at the table is win-win. Lots of customers dressed way down (men in sleeveless T-shirts/tank tops with lots of hairy parts hanging out) and floors and furniture that looked like they could use a good scrubbing definitely keeps the "dive" alive in the MAX's Wine Dive. Not sure that's a good thing, but the fried chicken and champagne will keep me coming back.

Our server was awesome. She was able to help us make wine choices and brought us enough tasters that the newbies at the table could be confident in their choices. The food was good, although my salad had an unfortunate amount of rotting greens in it. The chicken was great, as usual, but the collards didn't get rave reviews. The calamari was great and splits really well. The apple brulee was good enough, but I would probably get something different next time.
