  • "Growing up in Mississippi and then moving to the Midwest leaves my palate in constant cravings for good fried chicken. MAX's Wine Dive has delicious fried chicken! My fiance enjoyed the brulee French toast. Each of us enjoyed a (definitely overpriced but good) pimosa."

  • "It is one of those places that if you lived in Houston & now live somewhere else; when you get back, its on the list of" have to have" while I am in town. In fact; my wife relocated & now is there for a year. I go down once to twice a month. I make sure I get the Red Velvet Pancakes with Lemon Butter... They are know for the fried chicken however all of the food is equally delicious & flavorful. On this visit the special was chicken fried lobster smothered in this crab sauce....Amazing....They serve a delicious cheese grits, steak and egg sandwiches but with a gourmet taste. I usually get the house white wine and the selection they offer is expansive. More than likely there will be a line when you arrive but the wait is worth it....ENJOY"

  • "Good food, service, and nice staff just a bit crowed. If you don't mind being bumped into here and there it's fine. Too many tables in a small space."

  • "When you go to Max's you know the food will be great. It was not my first time there, but it was for a few members of my party. It was however, my first time brunching at Max's. I was well pleased. The server was really patient as it took a few in my party a while to get there do to inclement weather, he was great. The food was great and everyone had a wonderful time. For a nice intimate dinner of a family brunch Max's Wine Dive is a great choice! I love it!"

  • "My girlfriend and I enjoy conversing over a bite to eat and a nice glass of wine. Max's was the perfect place to fulfill that need. The brunch menu was impeccable and the vibe was on point as usual. This was the first time we've gone on Sunday. Thankfully I made reservations in advance :-)"

  • "We used to go here every two weeks for several months and then they changed the menu and weren't impressed with the new servings. We went back this weekend after almost a year hiatus and now the prices have skyrocketed, they have even more fried dishes and the service was okay. We bought a bottle of wine and our server uncorked the bottle, asked me to taste it and then left it on the table for us to pour ourselves. Needless to say, this was their third strike for us and we will never be back."

  • "I go to this restaurant frequently just for the fried chicken plate. It is great. I just wish they would understand that we need the right pepper sauce for the collards. Everything else is nearly perfect. Only minor complaint is that it has gotten much noisier recently."

  • "It was my birthday dinner and we decided to bring a cake unfortaunely the manager informed us cakes were not allowed in the resturant, so instead we told are waiter it was my birthday. He brought a cake and ice cream cup with a candle on top. When we received are taps the entire meal was together and could not be separated and there was a charge for the ice cream and cake cup. The food was delicious but unfortunately it's not a place I would recommend someone celebrate their birthday or visit with a large group unless there is one tap."

  • "My brother in law and his wife were in town and we wanted to take them out for brunch. This was the best spot! We had a both near the ensure. Our waiter greeted us promptly and our order was served within minutes. We had a wine made in Italy to set everything off. The food was hot, fresh, and so tasty. I'll definitely go back."

  • "Made an early reservation for a birthday asking for a nice table & letting them know it was a birthday dinner. When we arrived it was not busy but no one greeted us or escorted us to a table. The table was was in a terrible location. Although we had a bag with a birthday balloon on the the server never acknowledged the birthday. The server was not attentive & basically took the order & brought the bill (he did not even ask if we would like dessert). When leaving, I noticed that at another table, their server brought out a dessert with birthday candles for their customer. The fried chicken is very good but the service is terrible. We will definitely not return.Skip the Max's Wine Dive on Washington-You'll get better service at Chick Fil A ."

  • "I love Max's Wine Dive for dinner but had to try it for brunch - it was delicious. the only complaint we had was the music was extremely loud, so it was hard to hear at times. But the food and service was great!"

  • "Very energetic. The fried egg sandwich is awesome. I sent it back as it wasn't fried hard enough but that was rectified instantly. My wife enjoyed the chicken, greens and potatoes. A really nice door and the valets were pleasant as well."

  • "I have been here many times and it never fails to please me. The food is good-a little off beat- such as chicken fried lobster. The service is all you could expect. The wine list is adequate but not great- but you can find a decent wine at reasonable prices . This is one oft favorite watering holes I'm Houston. I suggest you try the fried oysters if you go. They are out of this world. This is a five star dining experience"

  • "Made reservations for 4 and we ended up with a 5th person....despite how packed it was they made it work and we had plenty of room and great service."

  • "It seems they can get away with the pricing because of the location but I just did not feel like I got what I paid for... Fried chicken for $16? Really all of 3 pieces with collard greens and bite sized potatoes. I didn't really see anything on the menu that was appitizing so I got the famous fried chicken. My grandma did better hands down. Still, give it a try if money isn't an issue. Two plates, xtra side of fruit and champagne w tip was $78. Rather burn that sorta $$ at BRC!!!"

  • "This restaurant is OK. I would definitely come here for brunch if i decided to come back. When I came for dinner I was not impressed. For brunch I had the RVP. I thought it was weird to pay $12 for 3 pancakes and have no choice for a side so I added 3 chicken wings at an additional price. . Overall the meal was mediocre. The wings needed more seasoning. The best thing about the place is the ambiance; Its small but energy on Sunday is cool."

  • "Only had one negative thing to say. I made a OpenTable reservation at 1:30 2 weeks prior to me actually visiting the establishment. I had to wait 50 minutes past my reservation time. While walk-ins were being seated within 30 minutes of there arrival. Guess I should of been a walk in customer because clearly having a reservation means nothing to that establishment."

  • "I came to Max's with a friend after the Rodeo Run. I was a bit worried because we were 15 minutes late for our reservation due to downtown traffic, and we were still in our running gear. Our table was still available and the hosts didn't give a second glance at our sweaty attire (thank goodness!). The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was out of this world. I had the chicken wings and pancakes, which were like flat cornbread, only better. This has been my best dining experience in the last year. Kudos to Max's for a fun, tasty, thoroughly enjoyable brunch experience."
