  • "I frequent Max's on Washington but this is my first brunch at the Fairview location. It was good. I know the menu is different but I was a bit disappointed that the jake cakes weren't on this menu nor the bacon bacon omelet. It seems like those would be staples regardless of which location. I felt like my options were limited but I still enjoyed it."

  • "The food was memorable, loved the jalepino cheddar grits and the creme bru French toast!!! We took our kids and ate outside and everyone was very friendly. It was also nice watching the people walk in of all different classes. We will be back for sure!!!"

  • "From the decor, to the ambience, to the food, to the service..I love everything Max's Wine Dive offers. The Fairview location has a great set-up and I cannot wait to go there again!"

  • "Max's has a very interesting menu....hard if you want to diet. However, the food is creative and taste's great. Really great burgers and the Cheese grits were wonderful. I am from Georgia....so I know Grits. Definitely a fun place with good food."

  • "our waitress was charming, funny and very helpful with the wine list and food. fried chicken and chicken/dumplings were amazing."

  • "We enjoyed a nice dinner at Max's Wine Dive. Our server, Chandler, was friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was good, although not amazing. Interestingly at this meat heavy restaurant, it was the mushroom salad that stood out as the most delicious dish that night."

  • "for two, plan to spend close to $75. For 4, close to $200; good service; great food, and we can WALK to the place from our house. we'll be back."

  • "Waiter was very nice and engaging; but did not anticipate routine needs. So I was having to flag staff down to get salt and pepper or to get ketchup for fries or utensils/napkins. So I'd recommend bringing the service up a notch to match the good food and environmental ambiance. Loved the art work. Also there's a brutal step off as you leave restaurant that could use hand railing. Don't fall and rip your clothes like I did."

  • "Max's Wine Dive is definitely not a dive The menu is creative and the food is very good. Of course, you can always get a great burger if you are not up to the interesting combinations. We will definitely come back."

  • "Service issue: "GR" (name on receipt) said they were out of lobster when they had it. Also failed to mention the scallop special; both would have been nice to know before we saw them paraded past our noses. Let the manager know and he threw us a small scrap of an apology which is more than "GR" did even after the manager talked to her. If you want great service ask for Heather or Chandler."

  • "A friend and I loved the Washington Ave location, so we decided to try the new Fairview location this weekend. We agreed that the larger outdoor dining space and the significantly quieter indoor dining room were huge perks. Intrigued by the maple doughnuts instead of Jake cakes with the fried chicken wings, we both ordered the Wings and Doughnuts. We. Loved. Them. Can't say enough good things about this new location!"

  • "Amongst my friends I'm known as a professional bruncher. I decided to bring my parents to the new Max's for my favorite meal (brunch). Unfortunately, my experience was not the best. The service was fair. Overall the food was good. However, we elected to have the cinnamon roll waffle donut as an appetizer and IT WAS AWFUL. The donut waffle was more like a Frisbee thin and hard. Everyone at the table said it was awful. We expressed our disappointment and overall dissatisfaction to our server & the hostess and asked that she clear it from the table (with 75% of it left on the plate). Not only did our server not apologize for the awful dish, but she also gave us the pleasure of PAYING for it!"

  • "I had not been to Max's because I kept having horrible experiences with the servers however the new location is totally different from the one on Washington. The hostess called to confirm my reservation and my server was beyond pleasant. She was familiar with the menu and super nice! Needless to say I will only visit to this location from now on."

  • "Preferred the brunch menu for the Washington location, but definitely enjoyed the restaurant space more of this location. Still very tight inside, but was larger and not as cramped."

  • "The waffle donuts are to die for! Make a reservation because it can get crowded and they have limited seating, especially for parties larger than 2. The service was great and super friendly! You have to valet though unless you want to find a spot in the neighborhood. So happy to have this in the neighborhood!"

  • "My friend and I decided on Max's new location when looking for something close to the theatre district before a show. Both of our first time at any of Max's. The decor was trendy and beautiful. The staff was friendly and waitstaff was very helpful with wine selections and food choices. Our Bison Sliders and Duck empanadas were delicious however will definitely be back because there are more things to try. The Fried Chicken and Champagne looked amazing! Max's Fairview location is midtown's little treasure!"

  • "Chandler, our waiter was AWESOME. He was extremely kind and made our evening even more enjoyable. The food was great- we were expecting it to take a good 15-20 minutes but everything was out in less than 10 minutes."

  • "Fun dinner at the Max's! Our waitress was extra friendly and helped make our meal fun and enjoyable. The food was really good (although I probably put on a few pounds) and the wine and beer were terrific as well."

  • "This was my first visit to this location of Max's as I frequent the location on Washington more often and I love that place. The food is delicious and to my surprise they have a different seasonal menu than the other location which is nice. They have an enormous wine selection much like the other location, too. My waiter was new to the industry but was a great help. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and wine list. I will map a visit to this location again soon, I just hope they fix the roads before then."

  • "This was actually my first time at this restaurant and all in all, I'm glad I made this choice. My boyfriend is always so hesitant to try new things, but when he realized that this place was a comfortable place and we could be ourselves and not act all stuffy, we had the time of our lives. I only wish the seating accommodated he and I to sit next to each other instead of across from each other being that it was a little loud and kind of hard not to hear word for word the conversations of your neighbor. I figured since it was my first time there, it was only right that I get the famous fried chicken! I again made a great decision! It was yummy. My boyfriend definitely enjoyed the shrimp and grits. This place has gained 2 new regulars :)"

  • "We went to Max's with a few friends to celebrate a birthday and it was excellent! Everything from the food to the service was great. This location is more laid back and felt more comfortable than the one on Washington. MUCH better service than the Washington location - that is for sure! Loved the jukebox and we will be back to enjoy the patio out front soon!"

  • "My partner and I were gonna call it a home night but got the bug to go treat ourselves. I had seen the new Max's Wine Dive open on Fairview on my drive home. I saw it OpenTable and they were open late!! An 11:30 reservation available!! We each ordered a bottle of wine, were able to take what we didn't drink, had the ever famous fried chicken and the meatloaf with the brownie desert. The service was great and never felt bothered or not taken care of. It was late so it was quiet but I looks like it can be a rowdy place during peak hours. Love that they are open late!! Great new option in the Montrose Area!!!"

  • "I had high expectations however this place didn't live up to it. We went for Valentine's day and ordered from the regular menu. I thought I was getting Chicken and Dumplings which turned out was just a couple pieces of small chicken pieces, skin on and drizzled in a light gravy with a few tiny dumplings the size of Dentyne Ice gum. My partner ordered friend chicken, which we expected to be like chicken friend chicken. It too was a few pieces that couldn't even compare to Popeye's. Way overpriced for what we got. My advice, these guys try to be creative and it wasn't working. If you want fried chicken I'd suggest passing this place up for Popeye's. We feel a bit cheated."

  • "Love the new location. Venue is more spacious and comfortable than Washington Ave. Same great food, same we'll oiled machine when it comes to service. My favorite, of course is their signature Fried Chicken(with a glass or two of pink bubbly;). Hubby had the Elk Meatloaf. Really good, and comforting. Also, the drunken bread is wonderful! Max's is my go to spot when coming home from a long trip. This may just be my new location. Loved it!"

  • "The food and wine selection were great. Being a new location for this chain, they still need to work out a few issues. Our reservations were for 7, but arrived early at 645. We were told our table wouldn't be ready until 7 but half the restaurant was empty. While waiting at the bar, people arriving after us were seated at the empty tables. When I inquired, the employee was very abrupt and told me that the people at our table were taking their time so we would have to wait. Yet, more tables were sitting empty. Not sure why our table was a "special" table."

  • "I wanted to go to Max's Wine Dive for my birthday on 2/9/14 and when i went to make the reservation, the location on Washington was full but there was plenty of slots at the Fairview location. My boyfriend and i got there at 11 and were seated immediately. Our server, Chandler, was super attentive and very friendly. I had the creme brûlée french toast and he had the breakfast sandwich which i highly recommend both. It was a memorable birthday and i look forward to coming back!"

  • "Minutes from my residence, this place is much more convenient than the Washington location. Portions are hearty and delicious. I ordered fried chicken sliders with house made pickles and chipotle honey. Truffle fries. Too much bread for the sliders; I left plenty on my plate. My dining partner had fried chicken, 3 ways, with mashed potatoes and Texas toast. It's a lot of chicken and I bet few people finish this plate in one sitting. Ordered a bottle of Spite Route sauvignon blanc and it too was delicious. The wine list has some very affordable options along with variety. The service was terrific, both tableside and at the bar. Really good 80s music was piping through the restaurant, but this place is LOUD. You will not talk quietly."

  • "This is a good place to come have a drink, try some new food and chat with friends! The service here is great, our waiter was extremely pleasing and really helpful with wine recommendations. Seemed knowledgeable too. I absolutely enjoyed the comfortable setting and could really find myself coming at all times whether with friends, a date or just by myself!"

  • "Always loved their French Toast!! Also had the fried egg sandwich..Both are very good, but not healthy!! :P Very busy for brunch! Sat at the bar, but servers were very attentive."

  • "Crowded (we had to sit at the bar despite having made reservations) and loud. First thing you'll notice – besides the substantially bigger space — is a slight tweak to the menu. I ordered the chicken-fried ribeye with "boudin gravy" which, while admittedly interesting, isn't really what I want or come to expect from this dish. My steak was fattier than I would have liked, and my eggs over easy were way overcooked. My girlfriend seemed to like the goat cheese omelet she ordered. Whereas I first went to Max's on Washington with no expectations and being blown away, I went to Max's on Fairview expecting the world and being let down. Until this crew hits their rhythm in the kitchen and in managing the lunch crowd, stick to Max's on Washington."

  • "So excited for Max's on Fairfield to finally open! The food was outstanding, though definitely heavy on the carbs. I sure wish there was a few more salad options to balance out the delicious yummy fried food. Service was very good for the first week of being open. As a party of 2 we had to wait about 15 minutes for our reservation when there were other larger tables for 4 open. Wines were very tasty but very modest pours for a $12 glass. I suspect their retail prices are much more reasonable. Overall it was a great night!"

  • "Most issues we had were probably just hiccups from opening a new restaurant, but I still do t follow how they all happened. First, an open table res got us the last two bar seats instead of the open to tables. The wait staff enters their orders into a terminal right there, making it a cluster and despite lots of staff being there getting service was hard. The beer list had been pared down to lone star and Pearl. My fried chicken came out raw in the center. They quickly fixed and compd the item, but still raises huge war in general flags."
