Diner Reviews
  • "Brunch at Max's is a treat because the menu has such a wide range of interesting items. Husband got the fried egg sandwich which would actually feed a family of three. Craving protein, I got the burger upgraded with duck fat, fried egg and fried green tomato, but without the bun. Both dishes were flawless. The ketchup for the fries was enlivened with curry and sriracha. Max visited for a long time and invited us to sign up for Restaurant Week. We love this place!"

  • "i love the corned beef hash. i wish the portion size was not so small. Perhaps another egg? Serve with some bread..."

  • "We were lucky enough that it was only 80 degrees on Saturday - a great day to sit outside and enjoy Brunch at Max's! The food was wonderful - as usual. They make really good Mimosas too! If you haven't eaten there - you should. Good Food, Good Service, Good Price."

  • "There was not a very large wine selection for a place that specifies wine as one of there main attractions. The food was good but not great for the price. My wife's food came out cold. They promptly took care of the issue, however, if I spend $30 on a meal I expect it to hit the table with no problems. The server seemed somewhat informed about the food and wine but did not particularly recommend or explain much. All in all I would expect to pay half of the price for the experience."

  • "The atmosphere was more laid back than I was expecting, but the food, service and wine did not disappoint! The server was very attentive and gave great recommendations about both wine and food, and the chef stopped by several times during the evening to make sure everything was great. The menu was just big enough to have a good amount of choices, and the food was fabulous."

  • "Great wine list. Delicious food! The adult grilled cheese and pork chop were fantastic."

  • "My husband and I came here for Sunday brunch and had a great first visit! We split the fried chicken, wild rice and blueberry pancakes, and the dreamsicle French toast. All were delicious but the fried chicken and french toast definitely stood out to us as particularly amazing. Our mimosas were tasty and the service was pretty good. It was definitely busy so I would suggest reservations."

  • "Had heard good things about this place, so purchased a Groupon to try it out. Definitely met our expectations! Love that it's different than the other restaurants in the area and love the menu! There were so many things that sounded so delicious, that I had a hard time choosing! I love that everything is made from scratch, except the bread, which is local. A great date place, but I wouldn't really call it romantic. The layout of the tables is not very conducive to private conversation, because everything is close quarters. The restaurant is long and narrow, though, so they don't really have a choice. That won't keep me from going back because I'm more concerned about the quality of the food and the service, which were exceptional!"

  • "We really enjoyed our appetizers and meal. The food was delicious, as it had been previously. The only downfall was the temperature of the restaurant. It was FREEZING! So much so that it took away from the dining experience. I would definitely go back again, but I would try to sit outside unless the air situation is fixed."

  • "The food was so so. The pork chop was barely warm and nothing to brag about. The red fish was pretty good. Ambience was great. Good music. Wine is great. The pours were weak. Food and service was so so."

  • "This was our fourth visit to Max's within about six months and we don't live that close - we seem to be developing a habit. Their menu changes just enough to keep the choices fresh but I love their redfish; I hope they keep it on the menu. We like their policy of opening any bottle of wine on their menu for you as long as you commit to purchasing at least two glasses from it. The only downside to this visit was our table location. Even with a reservation we were seated at a table between the servers' bar access and the front door. Every time the door opened we were blasted in the face with reflected sunlight off the building across the driveway plus there was an u ending stream of traffic beside us. Overall another fine experience though."

  • "We had a great experience, starting with the PBJ wings . . . then the comfort food was the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and the best collard greens we have tasted (although it's been a long, long time). Dessert was snickerdoodle with cinnamon ice cream - yum !! The service was excellent, the food delicious, the location very accessible and a great place for a date night experience !!! Thanks, Max's . . . ."

  • "MAX's is a hard place to categorize, likely by design. It is either a "wine shop" with food or a semi-fancy pub with grub. The Fort Worth location is dark (pubby), with limited space and a noise level that seems more than energetic, but not damaging. Apparently, all of this is part of the plan. It will be interesting to see how it plays in Cowtown's version of a Dallas dining area. The food was, for the most part, very good, with one dessert exception. That could have been personal taste, but the way it was handled was a mess. The server jumped the gun on the check and removing the unacceptable dessert made returning a purchase without a receipt appear simple. It is worth a try, but keep an open mind or low expectations."

  • "We were looking for somewhere new to go for Father's Day brunch and chose Max's after reading a few reviews. We were so glad we did! This is a small and very cool dining spot with AWESOME food! My husband had the fried chicken which was very good. You have to wait a bit for it, but they do warn you. He even loved the collard greens! :) I had the fried egg sandwich. I'm not even a big egg fan, but it was amazing and made for two meals. Our 4 yo son had the kids PB&J. It was a huge sandwich and even being a picky eater, he ate the entire thing. The only thing I would do different is to skip the mimosas and order wine or straight champagne. They seemed like mostly oj to me. We will definitely be back for a date night!"

  • "We wanted a nice Father's Day Brunch. However, the food was unseasoned and misrepresented by the wait staff. We were told the pork chop entree was accompanied by warm German Potato Salad. Instead I was served large (and cold), underseasoned fries with a small dollop of purple cabbage on top. When I told the server that I did not get the potato salad, he told me it was the 'dressed fries'. The server treated me as if I was too stupid to know the differece between fries and potato salad. But certainly, I am not so stupid that I would visit this restaurant again. Very disappointing, especially for a special occasion. If you want a good meal for a special or any occasion, this is not the place."

  • "We've been to this restaurant three (3) times now; once for lunch, once for brunch and once for dinner. Our first experience was the best, the foold was very well prepared and the wine selection was nice, albeit a bit pricey. This weekend we had dinner there with friends; the food was less desirable this time. For example, the pan fried chicken they pride themselves on tasted as though it was cooked using the same oil used to prepare fry fish; the chicken had a fried fish taste to it...for me it was inedible. The salads are oversized, so only 1 per 2 people. The other orders at are table, including mine, were also way oversized. We probably won't be going back, is unfortunate because they have a "different" menu..."

  • "Have been twice - seasonal PB&J wings were a favorite. Loved the "Nacho Mama's oysters" & fried chicken sliders (I would have preferred without honey). Loved the baby kale salad & Magnolia Cheese Board. Ruben sliders were a miss for us - truffle chips were a big soft. Got an add on chicken breast - yummy & without bones! Can't wait to meet friends there again!"

  • "We had a wonderful meal and the service was absolutely outstanding! Or server, Lauren knew the menu and was well versed on ingredients and recommendations. Also was very knowledgeable with the wine list and for suggestions as sometimes wine lists can become very overwhelming. We will definitely be back again and again."

  • "My family loved the mac n cheese that was made with goat cheese and other delicious goodies. The fried chicken was incredible and well worth the wait. We were told it would be 25-30 minutes, but it was only about 15 minutes. My husband got the egg sandwich. The applewood smoked bacon and the truffle aioli brought the sandwich over the top."

  • "Went to Max's in Fort Worth for the first time. They have free valet parking and great service but the food just wasn't as good. I ordered the fried chicken and the food was not as flavorful as the Dallas location. The chicken, greens, and chipotle honey were all very bland. The potatoes were overlooked yet seasoned with super spicy seasoning. My husband ordered the egg plate but didn't like the grits so he asked for potatoes. His potatoes were overcooked with no seasoning. The experience was ok. We may come back but we will more than likely stick to the Dallas location. "

  • "Have visited other locations of MWD, but this was our first time to the Fort Worth location and...as usual...we were impressed. The food was delicious and served without issue, the service was attentive, informative, and efficient, and the overall ambiance of the place left our large group all feeling well fed, served, and of course lubricated! Thank you especially to Cory, our server for making our special occasion that much more memorable."

  • "Food and wine were both "good", but I thought it was a little overpriced. Had a $15 Cab that was very good, the pour was equivalent to a shot glass. Disappointing."

  • "I was so excited to visit this spot. Took my Mom for brunch on Sat. Got a surprise to find Ft Worth loc doesn't have waffles. I got the fried chicken wings and they were good. My son ordered some as well, but one was a little too pink inside. The waitress took them back, and brought out two burnt wings. It was almost like the chef (if he should be called that)was being funny. Don't know if I will return. Our other dishes were good andoso was our waitress. I was a bit disappointed. "

  • "My husband and I eat brunch here regularly. The French toast and the fried egg sandwich and the rellano are my favorites. Buy a bottle of bubbles and enjoy some wonderful food and friendly service. This is one of my favorite spots in Fort Worth"

  • "Initially did not let us make a reservation for the size of our large party, but when we came they were not busy so they were able to seat us all together. Grapefruit mimosas were great, definitely a unique highlight. Some of our entrees were cold, perhaps due to the large size of our party - we sent them back and the staff was happy to rewarm them. Overall, drinks were great and we had a great time, but the food was nothing special. "

  • "This was our second visit to the Fort Worth MAX's. We enjoyed our first visit with friends and decided to try it solo. The staff is attentive and helpful and the wine list is excellent. We like their policy of allowing you to open any bottle on their list as long as you commit to buying at least two glasses from that bottle. Dinner was delicious - bison sliders for a shared appetizer with etouffee and redfish as our entrees. From our viewpoint the noise level was distracting but it's a great spot for groups."

  • "This is the second time we've eaten at Max's. Awesome again, which is saying a lot as expectations were high. As we did previously, we started with PB&J Wings in a Thai peanut sauce and blackberry coulis. Sounds funny, but this combo works, providing a full range of flavor and texture. I had the Famous Southern Fried Chicken, served with mashed potatoes, collard greens and Texas toast. Easily the BEST Fried Chicken ever! Tasty and "oh my goodness moist." Debi had the "Squashsta", which is zucchini "noodles" with a pomodoro sauce. She loved it! With dinner we drank one of my favorite Italian (yes) wines; Gaja Ca'Marcanda Promis, which was very, very reasonably priced. Max's is awesome and will now become a regular stop for us."

  • "When my party all arrived and we went to the table. The water glasses on the table were already sweating. The server was friendly but slow. One of the items on the menu was not available per the server they ran out. After waiting about 45 mins before our order was taken. I ordered a chicken dish and was told it would be an additional wait time. So I changed my food selection so the others would not have to wait. The food still took over 30 mins before it arrived. So I could have just ordered the chicken dish. Also I requested a high chair and booster chair neither were at the table when we arrived and the menu on Friday nights is NOT kid friendly. The kids actually fell asleep because it took so long for the food to arrive. "
