  • "Absolutely amazing and overall just a great place for small groups or large groups."

  • "My cousin has been curious about this place for a while, so where better to celebrate her birthday this past weekend.... We were pleasantly pleased! They've definitely taken "comfort food" to another level- the food was great (honey, those collard greens were on POINT! We ALL ordered a bowl!).... and our server Ashley was super attentive to the Birthday Girl's wants. We will be back- soon!"

  • "We had heard so much about the place we decided to go. It was late so I'm not sure if the cooks were tired or what the good was poorly seasoned the Mac and cheese was watered down as well as the gravy no taste. We we were disappointed especially with what we paid for dinner seemed like it would have been better. We love good and great resturants so it's not like we are trying to be rude but honest. Our waiter was just not there and seemed stand offish. Just not a good first time experience sorry I am sure it's a great place but I'm sure we want be back."

  • "go to place for fried chicken with mashed & collard greens, wife gets the shrimp and grits every time"

  • "Fried Chicken on a pile of collard greens and mashed potatoes and Golden Opportunity on tap. Pretty attentive staff as well- almost too attentive, but that's barely worth mentioning."

  • "We had an awesome brunch including the grapefruit mimosas. The fried chicken is always great as well as the collard greens. Everyone loved their meal! The seating can be a challenge especially if you have a large group. The staff is very friendly."

  • "While dining with an out of town guest I was very excited to show them what Max's was all about. Meanwhile, it wasn't very busy with a number of open seating options. It was very difficult to enjoy our time and carry a conversation when the event planner was seated directly beside us with three prospective clients. Looking around the place there were a number of spots that could've been selected that wouldn't have interrupted anyone's dining experience. I thought that was poor planning and rather rude of the event planner."

  • "I first discovered Max Wine Dive Bar back in Feb. I went for brunch and fell in love with the chicken & waffles. I try to dine there at least twice a month. All my friends and family love the place and it has become our favorite brunch spot on the weekends. I have tried dinner a few times as well and wasn't disappointed at all. This place is def a favorite that I go to frequently!!!!"

  • "The only thing I would say could be improved on the menu is to have more vegan and vegetarian options."

  • "We took our Father the Max's for Father's Day and he was thoroughly impressed. He loved his food, the view, the service, but most of all his bottle of Bosio Muscato!! He said he would definitely be coming back on his own. My sister and I already Love Max's and now I know it's safe to say we have gained them another Fan!!!"

  • "I had the southern fried chicken meal with collard greens and jalapeno grits; the chicken was seasoned and fried to perfection with lots of flavor and the greens made me close my eyes with every bite. I love this place and it is always a treat to eat here, everyone that I bring here with me loves it just add much as I do."

  • "I took my dad here for lunch for Father's Day. (Saturday before) we both enjoyed it and the food was very good."

  • "Max's is perfect if you like to try new wines but don't want to commit to an entire bottle. They constantly rotate their by-the-glass menu. The food is amazing, too!"

  • "amazing raspberry lemon mojito and goat cheese pizza on happy hour from 4-6! :)"

  • "The fried chicken was great, but be prepared to pay $4 for a drumstick. No merlot by the glass, but others were available. Ordered chef Patrick's short rib which was delicious, but not worth $25, maybe $20. Marcie made the experience good and guitarist was a welcomed relief to the loud dark music that they had on before. Won't be back, just not a good value. Too many other great eateries in Uptown to measure up to."

  • "Our waiter Jerry was the best. He was very tentative. He also made sure to explain the menu and everyone understood. "

  • "This was my first time at Max's and it definitely won't be my last!! I loved everything about this place! The food was amazing and the service was outstanding! "

  • "Food was very good. Fried chicken slider starter would've been fine for an entree. Shrimp and grits were very good and the CFS was massive and crispy. Last Judgement wine was good enough that I bought three bottles to take home. "

  • "We went to Max's because we had heard great things and they couldn't have been more accurate! Amazing food, great service, and a delightful view! Will always go back! :) "

  • " I've heard so much about Max's from friends and social media so when me and my cousin setup a Brunch date I thought this would be a great choice. I made reservations for 12:45 on a Sunday, the place was packed but we were seated right away on the cover outside patio. We started off with the Cinnamon Roll which was served on a hot plate however the Roll was cold and dry. Me and one of my cousins had the chicken and waffles... I can say the chicken was good but the waffles were very hard. My other cousin tried the red velvet pancake which she stated was very dry. She did state the chicken fried steak was seasoned well and very tasty. Our overall experience at Max's was just ok nothing stood out for a repeat visit. "

  • "I brought my husband and mother-in-law here for brunch. My husband and I frequent Max's Wine Dive on a regular basis. This time I decided to bring his mom as well. So we chose Max's without a second thought. I ordered my wings CRISPY and did not receive as requested. Although I was disappointed, I did not send my order back or tell the server my order was not as I requested. This was the first time my order was not perfect. With the horror stories of ppl adding EXTRA to food that's been sent back, I kept it to myself. Our server; JaMail was sooo OUTSTANDING!!! Although, my order wasn't perfect, I will come to Max's Wine Dive again and again. "

  • "Max's is great for southern comfort cooking, but like southern comfort cooking, the portions are big and the food is filling. The bar is fine for wine and mixed drinks, but the tap beer selections is only so-so. Great for weekdays, but avoid on weekend nights when it gets so scene-y and crowded, it's impossible."

  • "From the appetizers to the entrees, this place has wonderful food. The server was very knowledgeable and friendly...a great choice for dinner!"

  • "This place has good food and a good vibe!!! I will definitely be back. "

  • "The server we had kept asking if we wanted add-ons (that we didn't know were add-ons) and when we said yes charged us for things that we didn't know we would be charged for. Also charged us for an extra order of bread... it seemed like he was trying to find any little thing that would bring our bill higher. The manager took care of it but it was still a bad experience. The food was good, but it took over an hour to get to us which was also kind of ridiculous as they weren't that busy. "

  • "Our table was the first to be served and the stated that they had started cooking early, the chicken was refried from brunch or cooked in old grease. Not happy with it. "

  • "This was an excellent place for Mother's day brunch. The scene was nice, food was delicious and service was great. On special occasions I recommend making reservations. "

  • "I've eaten at this restaurant before with my homegirls and we enjoyed ourselves. Took my Mom here for Mother's Day so that we could try the RVP. They were excellent and huge. The jalepeno grits were good as well and we washed it down with Mirmosa's. "

  • "order a salad and max & cheese. was told that i couldn't have dressing on the side for the salad so i just ordered the mac. a little pushy for wait staff. I did love the max & cheese though!"

  • "Food is good, just wish they had more healthier options and not everything fired. Service is good, waitress was knowledgeable about beer and wine selection. Out door patio is pretty open and friendly, This place is great for happy hour."

  • "Solid but not awe inspiring comfort food go well with a really stout wine list, cool environment, and nice scene. Some of the vintage champagne was selling near retail, as opposed to a massive markup. The glass list has interesting offerings, and the flights were bold. I'm a wine guy, and will go back for the wine. The egg sandwich, borracho bread, shrimp and grits, piquillo peppers were all good, not great. The coffee at the end of the night was not hot. But again, it's about the wine."

  • "I've been before to Max's however this time the service was incredibly slow. It took 20 mins for someone to acknowledge us then 45 mins for the food to arrive. It became a game for my husband and I to try to catch and get as much out if the waiter as we could when he walked past us. We asked for the check as soon as the food arrived but it still took unreasonably long. Maybe it was just an off night however, it was our anniversary and we just found this not to be the best place for great service on special occasions. The food was just ok. "

  • "The service is terrible!!! The special fried chicken is no better than KFC"
    Dined on 4/24/2014
  • "The food was awesome, I had the Red Velvet Pancakes and my daughter had the Creme Brulee French Toast, they were both excellent. I wished that the service would have been better, glasses were left empty, it seemed like after the food was dropped off we were left to fend for ourselves. I do take into account that it was Easter and they were very busy. I would definately give Max's another try. "
