The place was (as you would expect) nearly packed, but the meal was superb. We had the buratta and heirloom tomato salad, which was wonderful (though the inside of the cheese was not runny enough), followed by either the seared scallops with black rice or the local day boat swordfish. Both were excellent. Our server was very sweet, but something of a newbie. Our only criticism is that their wine list is pretty boring. The truffled deviled eggs are amazing as are the goat cheese croquettes. I got a caprese salad with burratta cheese which was great. My husband got the risotto cake which was very tasty. For dessert we got the donuts, which I highly recommend. We sat in the back which was nice because it was less noisy than the front. Toni is a fabulous waitress. My wife had the chorizo-crusted swordfish and said was one of the best swordfish dishes she'd ever had. I had a taste and had to agree. I had the risotto cake, a vegetarian dish superbly prepared. All ingredients were fresh, local, and in season. We shared the freshly made cinnamon sugar doughnuts with vanilla and fresh berry dipping sauces, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The only negative was a small part of the interior decor. We happened to be seated at a lovely table for two right next to a not so lovely aluminum framed window. Hostess seated us out back on the patio which was perfect with outdoor heaters on a cool evening, and the waterfall feature to make a relaxing atmosphere. Our waitress was incredible, made some great recommendations and went out of her way to honor special requests. We ordered the meatballs as one of the starters and they were outstanding, our friends are true Italian cooks and they were amazed how good they were. The second starter was the stuffed squash blossoms which were also incredible. The kitchen is committed to "farm to fork", with grain fed beef, locally-sourced vegetables, and the freshest of fish. Service is very professional. All servers are required to taste all of the dishes so they both understand the menu and can advise patrons on taste and spicing. We've had both Duane and Gabrielle as servers and both are outstanding. We've been at Max's Harvest many times and we know how dedicated everyone connected with the restaurant is to the entire concept and to making the dining experience the best possible. Outside dining is available in two locations--in the front and in a back garden setting.
