  • "This was our first try & we will be back! We had the Sicilian shrimp appetizer and the caprese salad - both were great. The shrimp was perfect with the balsamic glaze. For dinner, my husband had Bolognese and I had the veal piccata. Not your usual piccata as it was a grilled veal chop bone-in. Seriously, I wanted to lick the plate! My husband enjoyed his Bolognese but wasn't thrilled with it. He wants to go back to try several other dishes."

  • "The cocktails, food, and wine were all amazing. As a group of four, we were there to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The ambience was great for this occasion, once we requested to be moved from the back of the restaurant to the front. We had a difficult time deciding what to eat because it all looked so amazing. We were not disappointed at all. The only downside of the experience was trying to get candles for the dessert."

  • "We were there on a very cold night during Mardi Gras and we were welcomed with friendly smiles and great enthusiasm. Maximo's is near our home, so we love to take guests there because we can count on great food and attentive service. This night did not disappoint. As busy as they were, we weren't rushed or forgotten and our food was wonderful."

  • "Maximos had become one of our favorite restaurants since Justin Day became the executive chef. On Sat March 1st we asked some friends to dinner there but upon arrival found out that Justin was on a leave of absence. We asked the current chef to pick out some of his best dishes for our table of 4. Nearly all of the dishes were rather tasteless! The food was fresh but the preparation left much to be desired. The service was fine and the waiter wad attentive. I hope Justin returns soon because we definitely will not be back with the current chef in the kitchen. We probably should have said something about the flavor of the food yo the waiter but some other issues caused us to just let it go and just finish our meal and leave."

  • "If you can, sit at the kitchen bar when you dine here. It's a counter like at a diner with a direct view of the kitchen. Everything here is good. I always enjoy the mixed grill. The carpaccio appetizer is very good. The duck pasta is outstanding. Whatever you order, you won't go wrong!"

  • "sat at the bar by the cooks. like to watch them cook. there was friction between the cooks and the servers that was a bit off putting, not really necessary. Server was polite but a little surly. A little rushed. no big deal, but not the best. Mardi Gras season so give it a pass. Food was tasty and came out hot. Overall pretty good."

  • "My wife and I had the 5 course meal with wine pairing Good The wine pairing was wonderful. Every wine complemented its selected course superbly. The salad was great and the dressing was wonderful. Crisp and lightly dressed. The soup was silky and savory. Very soothing and pleasing to eat. Starts your mind anticipating the next course. The fish was cooked to perfection and the side left my taste buds wanting more. The side had an Italian style sauce that was excellent. This one side makes me want to return so I can try something from the full menu. It was that good. The desert was great. Not too sweet Bad My medium rare steak was extremely fatty and scorched on one side This is my only bad experience Total overall experience was excellent"

  • "Run don't walk to Maximo's. I took my wife there for her birthday dinner. She has a milk allergy and at times, it is difficult to eat out. But Maximo's and our waiter Kevin did everything they could to ensure she could eat and find something on the menu. The food was amzaing. The calamari appetizer was unreal with a spicy red sauce. We had the beef carpaccio was also excellent. I had four-cheese ravioli and my wife had the duck pasta, which was both our favorites. The wine list is filled with excellent wines. And I can't say enough about our waiter Kevin. He was crazy helpful with finding helping my wife order and very attentive. Thanks Maximo's for a wonderful birthday dinner."

  • "We were getting a little discouraged by our dining experiences close into Bourbon St! The food was slow to come, cold when it arrived to the table and service needed a lot of polish! We decided our last night of 4 to try Maximo's since it wasn't in the beaten path but close enough to walk. WOW! Service was friendly and timely... The food was fresh and hot an the favors were superb! The bar tender was awesome and made me the best lime daquerie I've ever had while we waited for our table. The ambience is lovely... Very Italian! The only critique we'd have is the music. Would have lived some Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra or something along those lines!"

  • "So much of New Orleans cuisine are seafood specialties and local specialties. It's nice that there's also a high-quality, non-chain, Italian restaurant in the French quarter. Over the course of four or five days of New Orleans-style dining every day, it's a wonderful change of pace! The osso bucco was phenomenal, and the three or four antipasti that our table tried were all outstanding. The wine list, too, was a couple of steps above the ordinary. Recommended."

Maximo's, aside from being seated close to the door and getting hit with cold breezes every time someone came in, didn't disappoint. Folks were dressed up at the holidays, but nice jeans works here as well. Servings are generous, so I ordered the smaller risotto portion, side salad, and the Brussels sprouts (which were fantastic). Wine list was a little pricey and a little too much dressing on my salad, but we were happy and satisfied when we left."

  • "Outstanding restaurant. Hidden among the bars and shops on Decatur Street, Maximo's has a great atmosphere and wonderful food. The upstairs dining provides a quiet atmosphere and personalized service. Access to the balcony overlooking Decatur provides a little something "extra" during cocktails. Food is always outstanding and I have never had poor selection from the menu. I highly recommend Maximo's to anyone looking for relaxed evening meal in the French Quarter."

  • "We had a 7:30 reservation but we were not seated until almost 8:15am. We were promised something off of the bill for the wait but they did not offer us anything. A wine glass was broken on the table by the hostess as she seated us and we had to request that the silverware and plates be replaced. Also, we were seated near the kitchen grill and it was very smokey. We bolted from our table as soon as the bill was settled."

  • "All our food was exceptional. I had the paperdelle duck and normally I don't eat all my pasta but between the four of us, we couldn't resist; so light; the sauce was yum. Or waiter was excellent, made good wine recs and instead of desert, we had Sazeracs and the bartender came to our table and explained it's history and they were the best we had while in town. It was nice and quiet; I can't hear in larger, noisy restaurants. Nice, romantic atmosphere. Would go again and recommend."

  • "Excellent food is always first for me, and Maximo's aced that. The pesto and grana padano appetizer was an elegant and delicious way to begin the meal. My friend is a vegetarian, so she got the risotto and loved it. Our waiter recommended the two scallop dishes, & I chose the pan-seared scallops with habanero-infused olive oil - to my taste, it was perfect - flavorful and fiery, but not tastebud-destroying. I highly recommend it - and there's plenty to choose from on the varied and authentic Italian menu, with an amazingly varied choice of Italian wines. Service was wonderful and it was fairly quiet - it wasn't overly crowded, but in some restaurants even a small crowd can get the decibels up there. I will definitely be going back."

  • "From the very beginning we were greeted with such enthusiasm and kindness. We were given our choice of seating so we chose the back in order to watch the Chef. Our waitress was fantastic. The pesto, cheese and bread were oh so good but the bread I really enjoyed because of the toasted sesame seeds! The Caprese was YUM and the crawfish pasta was THE BEST!! My husband ordered the Vitello Saltimbocca and I ordered the specialty Ravioli stuffed with Osso Buco. I had Merlot and my husband had Chianti both were excellent. For dessert delicious! Plus 2 glasses of Limoncello! The balcony was wonderful and we are such "people watchers"! Thank you so very much for a wonderful night for us. Flavors were delicious and presentation was perfect."

  • "Pathetic excuse for "authentic" Italian. Maybe it was good in the past, but there is nothing authentic about this place now. And it is WAY overpriced. This is nothing more than a "fancy-shirt casual" tourist trap with decent food. It's probably better than Olive Garden. Stay away from the Calamari - nothing more than some overcooked rings swimming in a bowl of what tasted like canned tomato puree. The crawfish pasta only had maybe 8 pinky-nail sized crawfish tails in it. The Caprese had fast-food quality pale tomato slices in it. The only redeeming dish our party had was the Duck Pappardelle, the name of which was embarrassingly mispronounced by our wait person. The interior is tacky. There is a TV playing in the main dining room."
