What a wonderful, quiet, hidden jewel in the otherwise madness that is the Public Market. Tricky to find, but oh-so-worth it. The bar is small but has a fantastic, very French feel. The Maitre D' is great, the staff is classy and most seemed to speak French - and even indulged my rudimentary command of the language. The mussels were fantastic, as were our salads and bread. Nice wine list, great mix of locals and tourists and eclectic types, but I sensed a lot of regulars, which was nice and always a good sign. Amazing views of the bay added tremendously to our enjoyment and even though they were very busy, we were never rushed along or left unattended. It is the first place we will go upon our return to Seattle. C'est ce bon!!

The view is fantastic, but did not make up for the food, service and value. The servers were gracious but simple requests took an excessive amount of time or came in two steps. Ex: a martini arrived without a requested glass of ice. The latter required requests to two different servers and about 20 minutes for results. Same for bread, salt, and pepper, each 20 minutes. We are normally patient but working on a second glass of wine without any kind of food is setting us up for taking a taxi home. Similarly, an entree gets cold when you're waiting that long for salt or pepper. Corkage fee was exorbitant $30. 4 people, 1 martini, 4 appetizers, 4 entrees, 1 dessert= $250 plus tip. Food should be more memorable for that price.

We were a party of 4 for lunch on a Friday. The server showed us to a table out on the patio. It was an unexpectedly beautiful day in Seattle in mid-September. Everyone ordered something that sounded like it would be delicious - duck, mussels, lamb burger, croque madame. The ladies drank lovely glasses on wine, the gents had large glasses of beer. Everyone was very happy. The conversation flowed. What else is needed in this world?

We were seated inside, but within a couple minutes we realized we'd be dripping wet by the end of the meal. Do they really think a couple open windows make up for lack of AC? But they moved outside where it was much more pleasant. Nice food, nothing exceptional. Rather slow service (don't mean the arrival of the food) but rather the greeting and getting a bill from the server.

Service was great. The outdoor patio has great views (as does the dining area). However, the food didn't do it for me. When paying higher prices, you expect a certain level of quality. The salmon was dry and uninspiring. The soup was barely warm (although flavorful). If the prices were 25% cheaper, I would've given it 4 stars for the ambiance and service.

Go for the view and the foie gras. Entres ranged from good (pork cheeks, lamb) to marginal (duck and beef). Be ready to pour your own wine in tiny wine glasses despite a 30 dollar corkage fee. If you use Uber rather than a taxi they may not be able to find the place. Overall I was disappointed.

Maximillian is tops. It is as close to a real French restaurant as one can expect in Seattle. The outstanding features are its efficient but not overbearing service. Food is first class. Maximilien, once again, was a wonderful place to have dinner. We were celebrating our 34th anniversary, had had our wedding dinner in the same room where we sat enjoying the wonderful food, service, and view. What a great night. Maximilien never disappoints. Our waitperson was lovely, the scallops and duck and sparkling rosé were fantastic.

I've eaten at this restaurant twice. The food is very blah. The servers think they're special. Not friendly or personable. They come to the table without introducing themselves and just ask to take your order. They appear bored. I will not go there again. Cafe Campagne in the alley is a much better choice for French cuisine and beats them in everything, food and service.

Ordered two nice bottles of wine. Fir the second, had to ask waiter to bring proper glasses. Served first in the tiny glasses already on table. Corrected my pronunciation of the wine. Well, actually pretended like did not know I was saying. Made me show him in the menu. Then corrected me. I assure you, my pronunciation was correct. At best, a tomato , to Tomata deiiference. And AGAIN, tried to correct me when I asked him to decant the second... "Oh, you mean decanter?" He asked? On top of that, spilled a good but when decanting it. Weird, spotty service but he seemed to mean well. Nice enough of a guy. That said, love this place. Will be back.

Very disappointed in Maxilimilien. Service was curt and condescending. No passion or enthusiasm. Decided to go with the Le Gourmand Menu. Ordered the Pork Cheek, which they ran out of and, on their own accord, substituted a piece of braised beef and sausage over mashed potatoes. This was also just OK. Not anything to even remember. Also, How does a restaurant burn Creme Brûlée and still leave it without a solid crust. [retorical]. I see a sinking ship here. No reason to return.

On her last night in town, I wanted to treat my French cousin to a special meal with a view of the Seattle waterfront - and I wanted us to eat outside because the summer weather was so spectacular. Maximilien delivered this tenfold! My cousin was very surprised and pleased by the food and commented the menu even served her favorite French dessert! From starters to entrees, we had a superb dinner - and our server even went out of his way to speak both French and English to myself and my cousin. For a special occasion or to enjoy the best view of the Seattle waterfront while indulging in a delicious meal, I highly recommend Maximilien!

As much as I'm rooting for them, they were a disappointment. No one was happy with the temp of the drinks and we even asked for ice to add in to our drinks. It would have been good for the waiter to pick up on us putting ice in our drinks to ask if he could replace them with cold bevs, but no. When I asked for the Croque Madame with no ham, the waiter said "Sorry, they are preassembled so there is already ham on it." Really? Preassembled eggs too? That doesn't sound very appetizing. I would ask that the management of this restaurant look at their policies on requests, stop preassembling food (yuk), get more veggie dishes on the menu and check their cooler. All in all, we probably won't go back and won't recommend it to others.

We have periodically dined at Maximilien since it opened decades ago. It has remained consistent in all respects during that time, but the addition of the outdoor deck, with a wonderful view, has been great. The decor is dark, woody, and mildly funky--just enough to know that you are in the Market. The menu is French and somewhat limited--for example, it includes escargot and duck but not other classic French bistrot dishes that one might expect. The food is good but not great--for example, the onion soup is fine but not superb. A pleasant experience with a great view of Elliot Bay.

I was visiting from out of town. I can never decide if Maximilien or Place Pigale is better--but the point is irrelevant--they are both 6 stars in all categories--and basically next to each other. The views from the windows or the deck are spectacular. I do wish Seattle restaurants stayed open later, but then I am used to eating in NY and Paris where you can order dinner at 2 a.m. Great food, great service, interesting wine, and bartenders that know how to make a drop dead Manhattan!

We invited our daughter to join us during her lunch hour and were extremely disappointed in the time it took to serve the meal. We ordered by 12:10 and received our soups promptly. They were very good. But our main courses did not arrive at the table until 12:50. Our daughter had to ask to have hers boxed and took it with her back to her office. Not a very good way to enjoy a lamb burger. :( Our chicken sandwiches were too well done and disappointing overall. The restaurant was not crowded the day we visited, so do not understand the delay.

I have been to Maximillien's several times. I think this was my last. I like the ambience. The food, especially the onion soup, is good. However the menu is very limited and it is somewhat challenging to find something reasonably healthy and appealing. But what really struck me at our recent lunch was the poor service. The waiter simply had no time for us. He even walked away mid-sentence while "answering" (not really, more like pretending to answer) a question we had. He left the clean plates and silverware stacked on the table, rather than taking the time to set the table. It was all very odd.

The best French restaurant in Seattle! Lovely view with great food. Service runs hot and cold, however. When I saw someone having Moules at another table, and I did not see them on the menu, I asked our waiter what other items do you have that are not on the menu. He said, "None!" When I pointed to the Moules, he said that was only during Happy Hour. I asked when is Happy Hour? He said 5-7. It was 6:30 PM. Many other service issues, but the food and view are worth going. I recomend this restaurant.

We ate here to celebrate Bastille Day. The food was very good, and much better than I expected. The restaurant was very crowded that night but even still, the service was excellent and the waiter was attentive to our needs. He made sure we had what we needed and that our water glasses were always filled. The only small negative I would note was that the maître d' at the front was not that friendly. Maybe he was going for the authentic French experience lol, but in any case I found him to be a little brusque. We had reservations for 7:30 and we arrived about 5 minutes early, but they were still a little late in seating us. Not that big a deal, and could've been due to the restaurant being so busy that night. Overall a great dinner.
