MaximilienAmazing experience!I brought my fiancé here after the proposal for a nice romantic evening, and we were very impressed. The staff was very friendly from the moment we walked in. I got the lovers special, which includes a rise, rose petals on the table, champagne, and truffles. Everything was set out and we had a beautiful view of the skyline and the sunset over the Olympics. We had oysters for the appetizer, the lobster tail and roast duck for the main course, and the ice cream cream puffs for dessert. All of the food was high quality and worth every penny. We will be coming back in the future for certain!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AM"Old World Food and Service"This was our anniversary celebration, and it was quite memorable. The food was fantatic and the service by JEAN was "old world service!" A definitie treat in Seattle!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood placeGood food, service, and the view. Little pricy, but it worked well for a special occasion.
Would return again.
Had a lover's package for additional $20 and it was worth it6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI will returnThe duck and scallops were delicious. Salmon was on menu but not available, halibut substituted. Not made apparent until we placed our dinner order. I believe our waitstaff was in training. A light/mild cherry sauce accompanied this dish and I must say fruit and fish not a great marriage though fish cooked perfectly.. Service was good. Cocktails and wine were enjoyed. Desserts enjoyed. Priced well. We dined inside with window seating. Screen shades available as the sun sets and tries to blind you but never gets the chance. Views from all tables as it is not a huge dining area. Comfortable and cozy enough for intimate dining as well as friendly chatter. Not a loud dining experience as so many new restaurants are. Priced accordingly.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDecent French restaurant in PikesThis wast second visit. The first time was for lunch wher I went with some friends and had muscles, which could be prepared 3 qua and were awesome.
I was looking for seething similar for dinner, or maybe some bouillabaisse, but fouls a more traditional French menu with a somewhat short menu. I had scallops with a snail appetizer, which were both very good. The view and ambiance were bothe excellent here.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, wonderful serviceThe food was excellent and the staff were on point, taking care of all our needs with friendly and accommodating efficiency. If not for the noisy party of folks seated behind us, it would have been a perfect evening. After having mentioned the obnoxious party of folks, the waiter offered to have his manager speak to them, something I'd not experienced in the Seattle area at fine dining establishments. It seems most restaurants either don't care to handle their obnoxious guests or are utterly unconcerned with the welfare of other guests. This was not the case at Maximilien, and I was happily surprised by that.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome wedding dinnerWe chose Maximilien for a intimate dinner immediately after our daughter's marriage. The table was perfect. Beautiful outside seating with. Gorgeous view. The champagne ordered as a gift was chilled and waiting for the new bride and groom. Table set with flutes. They welcomed them and congratulated them. Our meal and service were outstanding. When it came time to serve the cake my sister got from an outside bakery with the help of Jean (front reception), they nicely put the cake in front of the couple for picture purposes even let them cut it like a real wedding reception. Everything was a dream come true for my daughter who said it was the perfect dinner, and evening. Surpassed any dream she had for dinner to celebrate her marriage.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food, service, and atmosphereThe food, service, and atmosphere were exellent. This is one of the best restaurants in Seattle. No doubt.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu is short but exquisiteThe menu is short but exquisite (duck, halibut). The French Onion soup was out of this world. The sauces accompanying the entries were light and unobtrusive, enhancing the flavor of the meat without being overpowering. As a bonus, the Potatoes Dauphinoise were a nice counterpoint to the duck I had.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMJust what the doctor orderedMaximilien offers a small menu that still offers enough selection to please anyone's preference of that evening. And the flavour combinations are of course perfect! As a traditionalist, I liked the duo of duck with just enough peppercorn sauce to give extra flavour without covering up the items on the plate. The foie gras starter also was nice and simple instead of overdone woth meaningless accompanyments like some places do. Servers take ownership in the satisfaction of their clients, making a much more satisfying experience. I felt the price was appropriately set for that high quality level - not inexpensive, but not outrageous - but that's a personal value. Bon Appétit !5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDisappointing LunchI eat at Maximilien's quite often, usually for special occasions, and always look forward to the great view, the thoughtful servers, the decor of the dining area, and the food. Monday, 5/27, my friend and I met for a birthday lunch. We both ordered the salmon dish. Our wine was great and a decent price. The French bread was fresh and delicious. Then came the dry, tough (yes, salmon can be tough!), and tasteless salmon served with tasty lobster sauce, wonderful potatoes and a few al dente carrots and string beans. The Napoleon for dessert was tiny and had 1/2 strawberry! With so many good restaurants in Seattle, it would be hard for me to choose Maximilien's for my next occasion but if/when I do go back, I will avoid the salmon.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food with a local emphasisgreat food with a local emphasis in the overall French bistro context.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love this place !We have never had a meal we did not enjoy at Maxmillien. Love looking out over the water and the service is always excellent. Only place for profiteroles outside of Vancouver BC and France !5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorite Seattle stops! Our group consisted of five people who enjoyed five different starters and five different entrees for lunch - we had to skip dessert this round, but we all walked out well fed and happy!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Food, Service and ViewEach of the four in our party ordered a different entree and all were wonderfully prepared and exceptionally tasty. We had the cheese and fruit appetizer that was perfect. Then came the Halibut, Duck, Scallops and Lobster tail entrees that we totally enjoyed. We then concluded with Creme Brulee and Profiteeroles. This is my wife's favorite restaurant and since it was her birthday, it was the only restaurant considered. It is our special occasion place.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA true French restaurantLocated in the heart of Seattle's Pike's Place Market. You'll leave hours later wondering how time flew by so fast. Exceptional food, service and best of all, great prices.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMade the pre-Mother's DayMade the pre-Mother's Day celebration special as everything was awesome!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDecent food, awesome ambienceI took my mom there for Mother's Day. It was really good and she loved her lobster tail but me and the other guest got the halibut. It was decent but not what I was expecting in terms of taste. The sauce was thin and it tasted pretty fishy.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!I have been to Maximilien a few times before, and I always have a great time. There is great food, great service, and I make very fond memories here.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's a favoriteWe often dine at Maximilien's in the Market. It's a gem. We lunch there or have dinner there. The food is consistently good, and their French Onion Soup is better than anything we tasted in Paris!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for French cuisineThis is a great place for both food and service. Service is top-notch, and food is the highest quality.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingWhat a wonderful experience, we were lucky to have beautiful weather and dined on the patio and it was lovely. Food was wonderful - loved the pate. Most at the table had the halibut which was great, I had the duck which was outstanding! Service is pretty good but it is French. Long lag time between starters and entree (almost an hour).5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a lovely dining experience! What a lovely dining experience! The service was terrific, the food wonderful, the ambience perfect for an intimate conversation.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was superb, as wasThe food was superb, as was the view. This little gem is hidden in Pike Market and one would think would be crawling with tourists however it seemed primarily filled with Seattlie-ites4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSeattle At Its BestOur group of seven really enjoyed the amazing view and equally amazing food. There was not a dish that disappointed. The seafood (especially oysters!), salads, and desserts were superb. A great experience.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHad the restaurant week foodHad the restaurant week food and wine pairing - the pork was amazing!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is always a good meal. This is always a good meal. It is a brief chance to be back in France, with pretty-close-to-the-real-thing meals from regional menus. Alex and the wait staff make us feel comfortable, we enjoy the small, but adequate wine list, and almost always overeat. It's good!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was wonderful. WeThe food was wonderful. We started with mussels, had filet mignon de porc, and chocolate mousse. If we had to find a complaint, it would only be that the mousse was more fudge-like than we would expect for mousse, but still delicious. The whole meal was wonderful, the service was expert, and the view over the Seattle waterfront was amazing.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMperfect dining experience!Maximillian was amazing! The food was exquisite and priced very fairly. The view was gorgeous. The service was flawless!

-We had lunch - for reasonable prices for the high quality of food
-We shared the Les moules Provençale - although the mussels were at times on the small side - the preparation was excellent
-Then each ordered or own main dish Grilled Beef and Brie Burger and Croque-Madame - for me the Wagyu beef with melted brie was fantastic

Being from Olympia we were not familiar with the restaurant but would definitely go there again.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMIt has been the highlightIt has been the highlight of our weekend. The service was excellent, over and beyond expectations.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came here with a groupWe came here with a group of 10 for a Saturday lunch and were able to get a table big enough by the window and amazing view. The server was very curious and made sure our needs were met.
I really enjoyed the food here. Every dish was nicely made and cooked very well. Seasoning was great too.
My biggest complaint is how long it took to get food. I understand that we came with a group of 10, but taking over an hour for our main dish to come out seemed a bit excessive. We had a few tables around us arrive after us and finish their meal, pay and leave before we got ours. Even the appetizers took a whi4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the bestOne of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. They never disappoint.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed everything. TG4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMaximilien is as close toMaximilien is as close to a genuine French restaurant as you're likely to get outside of France: classic dishes, refined atmosphere and attentive service. I always enjoy my time there. The wine list is small, but unpretentious and wines are very reasonably priced.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible food, really greatIncredible food, really great staff. Working class French culture brought to Seattle, I felt as if I could eat in peace without having to pay attention to the staff, because they have their own lives and are there for their job, wonderful. I work at a hotel and have sent multiple people there, who have all loved the food and ambiance.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view, service, and foodWe went here for my wife's birthday and couldn't be more pleased.
Our waiter was very responsive to our requests and kept our wine glasses full all night! He had great recommendations for the type of wine that would go best with our meal and it was fantastic.
A very laid back atmosphere, great view of the Puget Sound, and very reasonable prices for the quality and presentation of the food.
We also used our $30 for $60 coupon we purchased directly from them with no problems.
We had been there once before to try their happy hour menu, which was also fantastic.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHad two bottles of a superbHad two bottles of a superb Pommard. The Potato Leek soup was outstanding as a special. The Foie was excellent. Service was helpful, and friendly. In the hectic feel of the PPMarket, it is a worthy destination for an excellent dinner with a great view of the waterfront thrown in. Will return.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHad Easter brunch on the patio,Had Easter brunch on the patio, beautiful sunny day, the "Lovers" option gave us glasses of champagne and rose petals scattered on the table when we arrived - most excellent. As per the request on our reservation, they had the table with the primo view ready for us, scattered with rose petals, and set with chocolate truffles, and served champagne as soon as we were seated. Great service and a beautiful view! The food was delicious also!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe arrived at 6 p.m. and itWe arrived at 6 p.m. and it was still daylight. The vibrancy of the scene on Elliot Bay added to our dining pleasure. I have been coming to Maximillien since it opened and have never been disappointed in my experience there. My history with this restaurant goes back to The Pittsbourgh Brassire (spelling?). My dining companion although having grown up in Tacoma and spent his working life in downtown Seattle had never been to Maximillien and he, too, couldn't say enough good things.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe tried the mussels and escargotWe tried the mussels and escargot and both were excellent! The waitress who served us was marginal at best. The tasting menu with wine paring was outstanding; however, the waitress fumbled. The waitress didn't seem too enthusiastic. My wife chose the tasting with the wine pairing, but the waitress didn't introduce each wine with the respective course. We thought he first glass of champagne poured as we ordered was complimentary because the table adjacent all received a glass, but we found out it was the first pairing although my wife didn't receive her first course. When we questioned, the waitress brought out another glass. Moreover, the waitress failed to give my wife the last wine paring with the dessert.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place...great forLove this place...great for out of towners too...stroll thru the market after a fabulous lunch!
