The food was pretty good. The service was terrible. Way too long on drinks, brought out a broken soup bowl, gave me the wrong wine, salads and soup out before appetizers. Took forever to pick up our plates after we were done eating. Not great, probably will not be back.

We really looked forward to dining at Max Gill & Grill, but were very disappointed. Our waitress forgot us (we were left waiting for service for 30 minutes) and finally my husband went over to the bar and got us a glass of wine. The food was good, once we got it, but...really, the service was poor.

We attended this resturant because we had heard it was under new ownership by a very nice resturant down the street. Well, it was the same resturant that it had been over the years. The new ownership does not appear to have changed anything.

  • Everything was great as far
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 5/11/2008
Everything was great as far as the food/drinks go. We had a reservation for dinner on Mother's Day - it wasn't too busy, which was nice. Unfortunately, we were there for almost 2 1/2 hours - it took 15-20 minutes to be greeted by a server, and then only because we flagged one down. My Mom had the blueberry mojito and was a big fan. We both ate the lobster roll - very good and my Step-Dad had the pulled pork - also very good. We ordered dessert - which was very good as well, but I'm not sure it was worth the almost 30 minute wait to get it (banana/walnut empanadas, creme brulee cheesecake and pecan pie). Overall, it was a great dinner, just maybe a green waitstaff...

  • Once we got to eat the food
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006
    Dined on 5/11/2008
Once we got to eat the food was pretty good and they were good sports in keeping the buffet open late to accommodate us. The problem was they overbooked themselves on reservations for Easter. We had 2:15 pm reservations and were encouraged to arrive as early as possible? We arrived about 1:45 pm but we weren't seated until after 3:15 pm. We were very unhappy and the staff acted as if they didn't want to serve us. I haven't been to this restaurant again and I'm not planning to again. I would definitely not recommend this place on holidays and after they way my family and I was treated while waiting, I will never, ever go here again!

We have eaten there several times in the past year and quite frankly were very disappointed. The food quality was nothing like it used to be. my husband had clam chowder which was awful. Very watery. Then had some fish and chips was okay but not great. The service was terrible. The waitress would disappear for 20 minutes at a time and the place wasn't very busy. Also, drastic changes to the menu. We won't be back any time soon.

  • For being a "seafood" place,
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 4/20/2008
For being a "seafood" place, I would rank it fairly low on the scale of desirable. The ambiance is fantastic, but the food very disappointing in presentation and taste. Among the disappointments was my crab Benedict. I had asked specifically for the egg to be cooked over hard. It came barely poached, and the hollandaise was very unappetizing in look, smell and taste; it was not rich and creamy, but was the exact color and thick consistency of raw egg yolks. After bringing me a cup of lobster bisque which WAS very good, they brought back the eggs Benedict. I was stunned; they had just fried an egg and placed it on top! The restaurant looks great, but does not live up to expectations!

We really enjoyed our first visit to Max Gill and Grill. The only notable disappointment was the side order of mashed potatoes we ordered. It seemed the potatoes were so whipped that they ended up having the texture and taste of instant mashed potatoes. Other than that we had a wonderful experience and will be returning soon.

It was my husbands birthday and I wanted to take him out for a special dinner at a seafood restaurant. My husband ordered Lobster Linguini - which contained not one piece of lobster, but did have 5 pieces of shrimp. The waitress did bring out a little bowl of lobster so that he could add it - but this did take away from the experience.

Great Seafood; very fresh! We found this restaurant after searching for a great seafood restaurant in Denver (which was almost non-existant). My husband if from San Francisco and I am from NY and it is very hard to find somethig fresh out here. We have no been to Max Gill and Grill twice in the past 3 months and it is worth the drive from Aurora. The waitstaff is very friendly and prompt and the seafood is wonderful. The last time we were there my husband got Monk fish and I got the Lobster roll-both were exceptional!

Overall, not a bad place. The bar, which was very close to our table, was very loud (music & televisions). The food and service are good. Drinks are a bit pricey for what you get. Of course, parking is impossible for all restaurants in that area but they try to compensate with valet service.

When we first arrived we were promptly seated and we ordered drinks. The waitress returned without our drinks but took our order. We asked about their oysters and were told they had three different varieties. We ordered two of each kind. Five minutes later the waitress came back and said they were out of one of the three, so we decided to just order three each of the original two varieties. Five minutes later the waitress returned and said she made a mistake and said they were actually out of two of the original three. So we ordered three of the original variety and three of some other variety that she mentioned. The waitress then returned five minutes later with our oysters. Finally, 20 minutes later we received our drinks!
