  • I had never visited this restaurant
    OpenTable Diner Since 2005VIP

I had never visited this restaurant before and had no idea it specialized in chocolate. When I first walked in I thought, "This place looks so cool." There was a laid back atmosphere, the food was delicious, the service was great (good recommendations), and overall had a great time. Something that really stood out to me was that my friend and I took over 2 hours to eat and not once did we feel rushed. I appreciated that. Definitely would recommend and come again.

This was a selection on a whim for a late lunch and we were very pleased. Both diners ordered the lunch box options, and were very happy with the portion size for the price. Of course, desert was excellent, we chose the molten cake with raspberry filling (after the meals, one desert was enough to split). With beverages, the total for 2 before tip was around $37 and we were quite full. Service was excellent as well, the server made several recommendations.

We really enjoyed our visit to Max Brenner! Our burgers were excellent and cooked to perfection (rare and medium). The kids loved painting there food with ketchup. Our server was attentive and well versed. Our only complaint was that it took a long time to receive our food. Will definetly go again and looking forward to trying the box lunch and other desserts. With so many wonderful dessert choices, it was really hard to decide. The Brown Heart was fabulous.

Had a great time at this restaurant. Went early so it wasn't very crowded. The food was excellent and the calling card of this restaurant is the desserts. I am also a huge fan of the Chocolate chai latte. Half the fun is just the serving of it. I won't ruin the experience for your, but I would recommend it highly to both tea drinkers and non-tea drinkers. Definitely will go back soon.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

The dining experience was appropriate for the setting. Apparently we choose the establishment without realizing that it more like a soda shop and/or candy store setting. It was not the setting we expected for a pre-show dinner with long time friends. It would have been perfect for a mid-day get together with my nieces and their children on a Saturday or Saturday. Unfortunately, it is rather small so getting reservations for larger group is near impossible.

Dessert is great there but not recommended for lunch with party of more than 4. We arrived with a reservation and although they seated us when we arrived, our meal was not served for 45 minutes! They said it was because there were 3 large parties that arrived at once, however, the rest of the dining room was empty. I think they are better suited for dessert diners, not lunch meals.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

After hearing much that was positive about this place, I'm afraid my experience fell a bit flat. While I do enjoy presentation that is creative, the cocktail I received bordered on the impractical -- a chilled basin evocative of the top of a martini glass nestled in a bowl of ice chips, which required me to lift it with both hands and sip as though from a saucer. Different, yes, novel, yes -- silly, definitely. When it came to the chocolate course -- the reason I came by way of celebrating my partner's birthday -- was at first a tad shocked by the small portions for the price, then put off by the overwhelming richness of ... what was it, something along the lines of a chocolate lava cake. ENTIRELY too rich, verging on the gaggy.

The food was delicious. I ordered the fish tacos which had a spicy tang to it, the fish came fried and covered in veggies. Portions were perfect, not huge and not tiny. My friends ordered dessert only, the waffles and churros. This is where Max Brenner shines. The chocolate, desserts and drinks are out of this world. This is definitely an appetizer and dessert kind of restaurant, don't skip the happy ending!

A very romantic place to go to. Amazing atmosphere. Dessert was incredible, well worth what I paid, but what we had for dinner was a tad expensive; for what I paid I would have liked to have gotten a little more for my money, and a larger selection would be nice. That being said, this place is awesome and is definitely a great date/special occasion restaurant.

The food was absolutely amazing. Not all great dessert places have great food but this meal was the best from start to best. I had to try to the chocolate pizza because it was on Food Networks- The Best Thing I Ever Ate. THEY WEREN"T KIDDING. Melt in your mouth goodness. Service could have been a little better, our waitress kept disappearing and wasn't to be found when needed. But the food was that good that it didn't bother me too much! I recommend this place highly!!!

The place is a little small. I had reservations for a party of 7 and we were seated at a table in a wierd location right next to the front door. We had to keep our jacktes on because of the draft. However, my frineds and I still had a good time. The drinks and dessert were very good. A little overpriced, but good.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

We went under a recommendation by a friend for my birthday. We had a reservation for 10:45 PM and when we arrived the waitress informed us that the kitchen was closing in one minute and we had to order right then. We informed her that two other guests were arriving and she said that we had to order for them or they weren't going to get anything. We ordered a bunch of random things (which were very tasty), but we would have liked to look over the menu more. Why would they have taken our reservation if they didn't want to serve us? It was a lot of money to pay (77 dollars!) for 20 minutes of fast eating and being rushed out the door. We didn't even get to celebrate my birthday. Needless to say, it wasn't a very good experience.

When we walked in the smell of chocolate was fantastic. I took my best friend here for a job well done on not eating chocolate during lent. We are both foodies and decided to skip the actual food menu and just do dessert for brunch instead. The waffles were excellent and we were actually full when we got done. Our waitress was nice and personable and was helpful with her recommendations. I would definitely come back again for brunch!

The chocolate martinis were very good but the dinner portions were very small and overpriced for what we were served. And because the service was slow, we didn't even stay long enough to order desserts -- which is the main reason you go to Max Brenners! In the future, if I go back, it would be on the later side, probably not on a weekend, and for dessert and cocktails only.

I am not a chocoholic so I wasn't sure this was a good choice but from the time we entered into the aroma of chocolate to a menu with many (chocolate) choices to buying chocolates by the pound before we left I was enthralled and looking forward to my next experience at this amazing restaurant. We went for brunch and enjoyed every mouthful from an omelette (not chocolate!!) to crepes with whipped cream and carmel sauce...YUM.

We had a fabulous time at Max Brenner's. The food was fantastic (even the non-chocolate stuff) and the service was just right - not too pushy but always around when we needed something. My only comment was on the table size - they were just too small for the plates the food was served on if you also had a glass of water and a yummy shake for each person at the table. We'd go back in a heartbeat!
