  • "Every time we go into the city we try and make a stop at "the chocolate restaurant". It has been one of our favorite restaurants for the past three years because we usually have great food and they cater to make our kids happy. We have been here multiple times in this past year and this is the first time that I can say that I was disappointed. The food wasn't as good as it normally is and the service wasn't as exceptional as it usually is. We raved about this restaurant to our friends from out of country and we couldn't wait to take them. We were very disappointed in our dinners and with our waitress Olga. The only good thing this time was the dessert........we might have to find another restaurant for our next trip."

  • "The food and drinks were great. I had a Berry cocktail and the presentation was as wonderful as it tasted. I had a waffle sandwich with prosciutto, arugula, grueyere and apples and it was even better than i expected. The only thing I would recommend is definitely book a reservation in advance because it was very crowded with long waits. The hostess was overwhelmed and flustered."

  • "My wife and I went here on a Saturday night and was looking for a dessert bar. This place got great reviews on Yelp so we decided to try it out. I ordered the Warm Heart Truffle Cake and my wife had the Strawberry Banana Crepe. The Cake was a bit dry and may have been over cooked. The crepe was good but was a little too sweet. Next time I would visit I would have to make sure the cake won't be dry and ask them not to put powdered sugar on top of the crepe. Besides the desserts the cappuccino I had in the kangaroo cup was excellent. The little taste of chocolate after each sip was a nice touch, I will ask for a piece of dark chocolate next time. Overall not a bad experience, but a little disappointed in the quality of the desserts."

  • "Love my experience here, the cheesesteak waffle was so delicious as well as the waffle fries. If you love chocolate this is the place to go to ! They also have good choices for people that don't like chocolate,"

  • "Great for a quick bite and great for chocolate lovers."

  • "Great place to go for dessert, especially if you love chocolate! It has become a tradition for our family every time we visit New York."

  • "Service was terrific! Couldn't ask for nicer servers. So patient with kids"

  • "I've been here several times and the food and service is excellent. Unfortunately it's very noisy which makes it difficult for conversation. Puts a bit of a damper on the overall experience."

  • "OK. So we went for the chocolate. Took a chocolaholic who had never been to NY before. I knew what we were in for, so can't complain too much. But ... the big vat of chocolate at entrance was not working. The hostess put us at a table that sat on top of a huge AC vent. Server was accommodating, moved us and we ordered. Then up rushes the angry hostess: "What are you doing here? Have you ordered yet?" Waved her away. Food is OK bar food. My BLT with avocado and fries was pretty darned good. Dessert is what you want though. Just go right to the big fondue. Don't even hesitate. It's the only reason to go here. There are other, nicer places that serve chocolate fondue in NY though -- search them out and skip Max."

  • "At the start, the (very pregnant) hostess asked me if she could help. I told her that I had a reservation, and she asked for my name. I then told her my name. At this point a man walked over and started talking to her and I was left standing there waiting for a response. After their chat she turns back to me and says "I'm sorry what did you say?" How unbelievably rude. Also, her hair was really greasy and filled with dandruff. Disgusting. After being seated, the waiter, Angel, was practically impossible to flag down and never bothered to check up on how my friend and I were doing after he took our order. I have to say, the service of this place has really declined over the years."

  • "dinner was okay, mac n cheese was way overrated. Milk shake was great, chocolatepizza was really good."

  • "I love the food overall (waffle shape french fries are Yum, as well as the pizza) the deserts are amazing, I had the European Fondue the chocolate is to die for. Only wish they would serve more of the sides like the fruits and the marshmallows. LOVE MAX BRENNERS- the prices are so great and affordable!"

  • "I have ordered the banana waffle. It was dry and tasted stale. My friend ordered the same and said the same. My husband ordered the heart chocolate cake and was very dry. we called the manage, the waitress came back and told us he was busy. Although he took off both waffle plates off the bill, it would be good customer relationship for the manager to come over."

  • "I think that the food is great! The prices are a bit on the heavy side but you are basically paying for the brand in this sense."

  • "Had a pretty good time at Max Brenner. The food was good and the fondue type of melting chocolate for the churros was fun."

  • "I love chocolate and this is the best place where you can find it. Everything in the menu is great."

  • "I had an amazing time!! Food was good, seated right away with the reservation & can't wait to go back! Fondue was to die for"

  • "I would not go back. The food is good, nothing fancy, not my kind of place. My children are on gluten free diets. No choices for them."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Food was OK, but desserts were awesome! Ultimate Mole Burrito with chocolate mole sauce was very good, Mac and cheese is pretty good too. Best bet are the desserts. Noise level is really high so maybe not great for old folks. Not great for date night but perfect for groups, get food to share."

  • "We were complete tourists in our own city. I took my daughter for lunch. The food is a complete pass and not worth the money. The overpriced dessert, however are a huge hit! That said, we'll be back but only for dessert."

  • "We have been to Max Brenner several times and we have never been disappointed! Their waffle sandwiches are delicious and the seasonal dessert fondue is fabulous!! Highly recommend this sweet retreat."

  • "Max Brenner is absolutely wonderful. The food there is beyond amazing - everything is simply perfect. The food is rich, filling, and aromatic. Everything is perfected to the smallest detail. I highly recommend Max Brenner"

  • "There's ALWAYS a wait at Max Brenner's. All the times that I've gone, I've lucked out and only had to wait maybe 15 min. My friend and I went on a Wednesday night and wasn't expecting it to be packed, but it was. I made the reservation on a whim, while I was waiting in the subway (and to earn more OpenTable points). But I'm SO glad that I did, as there were a lot of people waiting around for a table. We were seated as soon as we arrived."

  • "I took my younger brother and his wife to Max Brenner. It was there first time there. They enjoyed themselves."

  • "This is really not a baby or small child restaurant, but the menu is sure to please the 8+ child in all of us (especially if that child LOVES chocolate). The savory selections are as good as the sweet. Portions are big enough to satisfy an adult. Pre-teens might share an entree and indulge with drinks and dessert. We had a party of 10 (most of them 14years old) for an early dinner and were very well seated and served. Wished we had sweet-toothed grandma with us - she would have loved it too."

  • "I loved the energetic vibe of the restaurant. The ladies enjoyed the drinks and I was loving the chicken satay for appetizers but the best part was getting my sugar waffles with crunchies and dulce de leche ice cream! Loved it!!!!"

  • "The menu has something for everyone. For our party of 6 - three 5th graders had not been there before. The menu struck up interesting conversations. The crepe was not a big hit with one of them. Two loved the pizza. Fries are yummy. Fondue - always a hit."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "It's a fun environment for adults and children. The fries were a little cold, but the dessert was delicious. Lastly make sure the waiters don't bring out the checks until the customers have finished ordering everything, and asked for the check. People may want seconds, which is more business for you!"

  • "Took my 19 year old and friends post dinner for a birthday celebration. They loved it. Great ingredients and clever dessert options. They seemed to particularly enjoy "cooking" the s'mores at the table and sharing all the different items ordered. All of us would return for a delicious post show or post dinner fun and different dessert, especially with a group. Service was very friendly."

  • "Went there for brunch before we left the city. The cinnamon apple & white chocolate french toast was the best franch toast I ever had. Just crazy good. Had to have a hot cocoa to go with it. If chocolate is your thing, you have to go here."
