  • "I ate at Maude's for the first time a few days ago. The entire experience was amazing! I'd made reservations and requested a table upstairs where I'd heard it's quieter. We were seated right away upstairs. I loved the dim lighting and our server was great. She was personable and attentive but didn't hover around or stop by too often. We ordered the mussels, the braised pork, and the pom frites. The food was served steaming hot less than 15 minutes after we ordered it. We loved every bite! We will definitely be back!"

  • "My mom was in town for her 58th birthday. I wanted to do something special so I took her to Maudes. We had such an awesome time. The food was amazing, the cocktails were superb and the service was impeccable. Very cool vibe to the place. It's refined but laid back and not stuffy at all. The shrimp cocktail was excellent - the shrimp were huge. I had the mussels and the sauce they were in was awesome. Mom had the chicken with mashed potatoes on the side - both were to die for. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a special meal with friends or family."

  • "We LOVE Maude's and this was our 5th time, before I rate the food just one note for the management team of Maude's on our arrival the young man at the front door behind the desk was not welcoming and was actually rude. Our reservation was made on open table for 4people. I called the restaurant 6 days prior to our reservation spoke to Page she was wonderful and adjusted the reservation for me. When we arrived I checked in the table and wanted to confirm we requested upstairs and we were 5 people and he looked at me and if looks could harm someone wow, then after a minute or so said I need to confirm some things with the manager go wait at the bar really?? Regardless of this very depressed unhappy person, our dinner was brilliant as always"

  • "I was recommended this place by a friend and had not looked anything further into it. Was initially surprised that it was a predominately French themed restaurant, but found plenty of items that tickled the taste buds. After much deliberation we settled on the beef tartare (hands down the best I've had) and the mussels, which were down in a unique and delicious broth - not just the typical white wine or Thai curry style. Would definitely go back and highly recommend."

  • "I love the whiskey smashes to start the night. Fresh and delicious. Started with a variety of oysters and a simple green salad. Main courses was the pork shoulder which was one of the best things I have put in my mouth in a long time. It was tender and very flavorful."

  • "I LOVE the drinks at Maude's. They take such time and care with them, and they are unique, great, and wonderful. The bar staff was solicitous and lovely, knowledgable and friendly. Cheers to them! The problems are with the waitstaff. Not only did we seem to be bothering them just by being there, they really didn't bother to check on us, refill water glasses, etc. Good thing the food was outstanding, so we had little need for them once it arrived. Overall, worth the trip if you go, sit at the bar, and order all your food and drinks there. Otherwise, skip it. There are 100 other French and French-inspired places that are more worth your time & money."

  • "Very authentic french fare and excellent options for gluten free. Cassoulet was out of this world and the housemade desserts were unbelievably fresh and delicious. Cocktails were also a delight, creative and not overly sweet. Overall atmosphere was just a tiny bit stuffy but they had the goods to back it up! Slow-ish service considering the restaurant was only half full BUT very true to the European style of the restaurant and certainly very professional and courteous. Plus, to be fair, if we hadn't had someplace to be afterwards, we probably wouldn't have noticed, and to achieve the food quality we experienced does take more time in the kitchen. Will definitely eat and drink there again next time we are in the neighborhood."

Portion size is important in a 'small plates' place so the more informed we are, the better our experience. Excellent terrine. The drinks were well made, arrived in a timely manner, and tasty.   • "The best French bistro in the city, not at all what I was expecting. Typically when you think of French food words like "heavy, butter, creamy, salty," come to mind. Each dish had a life of its own, meaning that the main ingredient/protein was not overpowered by the butter or salt. Every dish was light, refreshing, flavorful, and succulent. The bread was spot on ! I have absolutely no complaints about the food. On the other hand, some of the service employees need an "attitude adjustment." On several occasions, the hostess that greeted was not at all welcoming. She seemed annoyed that a party of 4 showed up right at opening (empty restaurant) with no reservation. She acted as if she was doing us a "favor" by giving us a table. Really? "

  • "When you walk in, you may think that Maude's is all show. It has gorgeous exposed brick walls, chandeliers, and good-looking bartenders. Once you order though, you realize that the drinks and food really are the highlight. Smashes of all kinds are highly recommended. Mussels rival the best of Southern France."

  • "This place was highly recommended, but the experience was pretty dismal. First off, they demanded credit card information during the reservation and threatened to charge it for no-show like they are some Michelin star restaurant do, that was the first turn off, but we decided to go along with that madness. Upon arrival we were seated upstairs in a very dark room, had to use our iPhone flashlights to see the menu. The food was not really exciting, foie gras pate didn't really contain a lot of foie, mostly cream, beef tartar was salted to the point where salt grains were crunching in my mouth plus it was too oily. The only bright spot was roasted chicken soft and moist, but too it had too much salt. Service was OK."

I can't really say what I was more put off by; the condescending attitude of the server when my friend did not realized that the wine she mentioned by its region was a Syrah. or that fact that I was charge $20 for 2 scallops the size of a half dollar, a supposed entree. I had been to Maudes on several occasions, all of which I enjoyed until Sunday. I don't feel any need to return. "

  • "My grandmother's 80th birthday. We had a perfect table up front (accessable) the Lights were low and chandeliers twinkling... truly a magical night! We started with The Maude's tower, a dedcadent melange of crab, lobster, oysters, and the biggest Shrimp you have ever seen! All incredibly fresh and delicious. My guests were blown Away by the luxury at this point, but we forged on with a roast chicken, maude's Steak, diver scallops, and a smattering of veggies (you must have the asparagus!) Each bite was better than the last! We finished with a single chocolate mousse with A candle for gram of course! A large spoonful of this delisiousness will satisfy. I Want the world to know about Maude's !"

  • "Food: good, but surprisingly not exceptional given the hype. The small plates we ordered were served with large slices of (admittedly really good) toast, which are easy to fill up on, and sort of mask what are otherwise smallish portions. However, bone marrow and foie were excellent. So-so on salmon tartare. Only two desserts. Great atmosphere. Darker without being romantic, great noise/music level, and the decor is pretty chic/anti-hipster. Best aspect: corkage. Share one glass from your bottle with another table. How fun is that? Plus I think the servers sort of keep track of who's sharing, and then you end up getting to try something good, too. Pro-tip: Tends to have open tables, but no openings on Open Table, later at night."

  • "Just went to Maude's on Saturday. The food exceeded my already high expectations! We got oysters, beef tartar, pork shoulder, chicken liver mousse and a cheesy fondue thing. Everything was good but the tartar and the pork shoulder were off the charts fantastic! The ambiance is very romantic - dark and lots of low lighting. The noise level was also good - not too quiet but not too loud either, just right. Our waiter was a little on the snobby side but he still did his job quite nicely. We had a bottle of wine and it was being cooled somewhere not close to our table and he was very good at watching our glasses and filling us up if we got low. I would definitely come back here!"

Found out that what we ordered was kind of bread heavy (both the pate and turrine were served with tons of bread.) at least the bread was delicious. Loved the decor and ambience. Service was friendly just seemed a touch flighty. Forgot my friend's drink; served the drink to the wrong person, etc. Overall great experience."
