Diner Reviews
  • "a little expensive. salads not as good as other items. overall very good."

  • "Maude's has interesting but classic dishes with fantastic bread and high-quality ingredients. The portions are generous and the prices (including for the drinks) are fair, especially given the quality of the food."

  • "Love the place, the drinks were fun and tasty, the wine list was enticing especially if you are like us a prefer French wines. I was disappointed with the food. The cheese fondue was really onions with alittle cheese on top, the foie gras came in an emulsion not as "entier" sliced(though they told us before ordering, so we knew)Cassoulet was fine. The food was good but not great. I would go back for late night drinks with friends but not for the food."

  • "Had the opportunity to grab a spot on the chic patio to celebrate the coming of the end (of summer). My guest and I shared a Maude's Tower, only the most decadent array of fresh seafood items, (crab, lobster, oysters, mussels, etc,) placed atop a three tier "tower", complete with candles, ice and seaweed. Felt like a queen for a few hours. The server, Lance, was polished and friendly, and the evening was perfect. Thank you Maude's!!"

  • "Absolutely loved my first visit to Maude's and I know I'll be back! My friend and I split all the items we got and enjoyed every dish. We ordered one of each oyster, the French Onion Fondue, Steak Tartare, and the Steamed Mussels. My favorite was the Tartare and I recommend squeezing a bit of lemon juice on top to really make the dish pop."

  • "Food as always very good. Staff is cold, unfriendly and unwelcoming."

  • "Absolutely love this spot. Wonderful food and great drinks and fun waitstaff. Upstairs is very intimate, downstairs a bit more of a scene. I'm always impressed by the menu and there is always a special that is interesting. The waiters are very knowledgeable both about the drinks and about how the food is prepared -- it makes it a very fun place to be and they are great at letting you take your time."

  • "Great resto offering (mostly) authentic French cuisine and an exceptional liquor bar. Ambiance is unmatched. Request upstairs (no promises, but they do what they can to honour your request if upstairs seating is available). Also, make a reservation; this place is quite popular (and for good reason)."

  • "Non pretentious, foodies place, no question. upstairs is quiet and romantic with superb service, downstairs is a great, urban bar area full of local food enthusiasts. Great dishes, great selection of oysters. LOVED the whole experience."

  • "Overall great experience. You pay for the scene and location. Food is always good at Sodokoff restaurants, but I didn't feel like the food was much different than dining at Gilt Bar or even Bavette's in some respects. Will return for special occasions. Service staff was great and knowledgeable. Bartenders were slow and not friendly. Understandably busy, but not hard to make a gesture of "here's a menu and I'll be right with you". Needs work in that area to make an impact. Would rather just go straight to my seat and skip the bar."

  • "We loved the overall look and feel of the the restaurant. I told our server that I was a pescatarian and they were very helpful in letting me know which options could be done sans meat. I was impressed with everything we ordered and the drinks were delicious as well."

  • "Exceptional food though wish there were at least one or two more vegetarian options."

  • "The only problem was everything was animal based for fried in animal fat or using butter on everything - so i really couldnt eat the food"

  • "We chose Maude's to dine for a special work occasion- the induction of our newest team member. There were 6 of us- perfect because the dishes are all meant for sharing and any more people would not have been as intimate. Service- Daniel, relaxed, personable with excellent descriptions and helpful suggestions. Food- We started with the Maude's tower, an incredibly decadent array of fresh seafood items (lobster, crab, meaty oysters, salmon tartare, mussles) Absolutely fabulous in every way. Followed by Steak Tartare (amazing), Pork shoulder (tender), cassoulet (heart warming and satisfying) and unbelievable lentils. Atmosphere- sparkly and energetic, comfortable at the same time. Favorite restaurant. Will definitely be back."

  • "First time here and we would gladly come back again even before trying out other new places. The food was amazing, portions were bigger than the menu would suggest and everything we ate was delicious. The atmosphere inside is fantastic, great lighting, great music and the service from everyone is terrific."

  • "I went here with my boyfriend for a special date. The waiter was friendly and attentive. Apparently you can also order a $3 shot of whiskey, and they will bring the bottle and let you refill your own shots and then just tell them how many you had. We didn't have many, but we thought this was a cool concept. We sat outside, which was a little quieter than the indoor dining area. We ordered the Seafood Tower, which was pricy, but definitely worth it. The seafood tasted fresh. We then ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert, which was wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant for a date or just a fun night out with friends."

  • "The location, atmosphere, food, drinks and bartender were good. However, the elevated attitude of the hostess and waiter stifled our overall experience."

  • "I sat outside for a couple of hours and had escargot, glazed carrots, salmon tartare, and the caramelized onion fondue and sipped a sour beer, the Duchesse De Bourgogne. Heavenly."

  • "So at first we were seated upstairs even though the more vibrant main floor was not full. After we were seated and given menu's it took about 10 minutes to get water and another 15 minutes to get our drink orders. Service was initially very slow. Although it is called a "Liquor bar", there was not a single listing for vodka, which was my drink of choice, hmmm? When we finally did have our server's attention, she was knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive. The beet salad presentation was beautiful but lacked flavor. We liked the space which was reminiscent of Bavette's and Gilt bar. Maude's was highly recommended by a good friend but there are so many other places I will go before returning."

  • "I ate at Maude's for the first time a few days ago. The entire experience was amazing! I'd made reservations and requested a table upstairs where I'd heard it's quieter. We were seated right away upstairs. I loved the dim lighting and our server was great. She was personable and attentive but didn't hover around or stop by too often. We ordered the mussels, the braised pork, and the pom frites. The food was served steaming hot less than 15 minutes after we ordered it. We loved every bite! We will definitely be back!"

  • "My mom was in town for her 58th birthday. I wanted to do something special so I took her to Maudes. We had such an awesome time. The food was amazing, the cocktails were superb and the service was impeccable. Very cool vibe to the place. It's refined but laid back and not stuffy at all. The shrimp cocktail was excellent - the shrimp were huge. I had the mussels and the sauce they were in was awesome. Mom had the chicken with mashed potatoes on the side - both were to die for. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a special meal with friends or family."

  • "We LOVE Maude's and this was our 5th time, before I rate the food just one note for the management team of Maude's on our arrival the young man at the front door behind the desk was not welcoming and was actually rude. Our reservation was made on open table for 4people. I called the restaurant 6 days prior to our reservation spoke to Page she was wonderful and adjusted the reservation for me. When we arrived I checked in the table and wanted to confirm we requested upstairs and we were 5 people and he looked at me and if looks could harm someone wow, then after a minute or so said I need to confirm some things with the manager go wait at the bar really?? Regardless of this very depressed unhappy person, our dinner was brilliant as always"

  • "I was recommended this place by a friend and had not looked anything further into it. Was initially surprised that it was a predominately French themed restaurant, but found plenty of items that tickled the taste buds. After much deliberation we settled on the beef tartare (hands down the best I've had) and the mussels, which were down in a unique and delicious broth - not just the typical white wine or Thai curry style. Would definitely go back and highly recommend."

  • "nice food, decent wine list. good cocktails. The food was good and the pate' and pork shoulder was very good. nice ambience. I would go again . if you have a date but don't want it too quiet or formal , it is a nice balance, especially during the week"

  • "I LOVE this place. We ordered several things off the menu and every single thing was amazing. The gnocchi, the scallops, smashed potatoes, cauliflower, and bib lettuce salad were all outstanding. We will definitely be back soon and I have already told other friends we need to go."

  • "I love the whiskey smashes to start the night. Fresh and delicious. Started with a variety of oysters and a simple green salad. Main courses was the pork shoulder which was one of the best things I have put in my mouth in a long time. It was tender and very flavorful."

  • "I LOVE the drinks at Maude's. They take such time and care with them, and they are unique, great, and wonderful. The bar staff was solicitous and lovely, knowledgable and friendly. Cheers to them! The problems are with the waitstaff. Not only did we seem to be bothering them just by being there, they really didn't bother to check on us, refill water glasses, etc. Good thing the food was outstanding, so we had little need for them once it arrived. Overall, worth the trip if you go, sit at the bar, and order all your food and drinks there. Otherwise, skip it. There are 100 other French and French-inspired places that are more worth your time & money."
