A CIA (Hyde Park) graduate, Chef Matt McPherson stays true to his local roots integrating the finest seasonal ingredients, sourced from local family farms & day boat fisherman into his unique dishes. The restored Victorian home provides a relaxed elegant atmosphere to catch up with friends, celebrate special occasions, enjoy a romantic dinner, or impress an important client. Apps we loved were the grilled romaine and the tuna tartare with avocado. The ribs were the best I've had, and they were cooked to perfection and fell off the bone. Others at the table enjoyed the sea bass. BYO and their parking lot is a plus."

I had requested a table on the first floor near a window and we were seated right there-perfect for a romantic dinner for two. Service was excellent. We will continue to patronize this wonderful restaurant and look forward to our next visit. Five stars all around."

  • "Everything was absolutely amazing. We had the Grilled Romain Salad which was simple yet unique. The entree I ordered was one of their specials - it was a rather large pork chop stuffed with bacon, cheddar cheese and caramelized onions with a bone marrow sauce on top. It was just so delicious. My husband ordered the 30 day aged porterhouse steak and it was grilled to perfection. Our waiter, Dave was extremely nice and he was the icing on the cake making our entire dining experience a great one!"

  • "We'd tried to get last minute reservations on 3 previous occasions over the past couple dozen months, but had not been successful. Fourth time was a charm as we planned a little further ahead and we were rewarded for our persistence. The food was very good at a commensurate price. The service was attentive without being intrusive. We had, by our choice, a relaxing slow luxurious dinner, sipping our favorite BYO Pinot Grigio and later splurging on desserts. Overhearing that we were celebrating our anniversary, the dessert came on wonderfully hand drizzled plates that splashed "Happy Anniversary" around the border. We are looking forward to coming back to explore further across the menu. P.S. The lobster bisque puree was crazy good."

  • "Everything was a delight and fresh. Extremely flavorful. I actually loved The Hudson Valley foi gras slightly more grilled. The flavor was wonderful and the liver perfect. Wish the watermelon was optional. Some of us don't like the tomato Caprese violated. Otherwise I am sure it was a great change. I would have tried it but there were so many other choices. I want to come back and back and back! :)"

Their 'Corn' special menu was outstanding - 4 courses that Matt used corn as a key ingredient & played off of - simply phenomenal. Reservations recommended on Fri-Sat but weeknight are pretty tame. BYO and well worth the $$ for the food. The seasonal based bread pudding dessert is a must try!"

  • "We had a great meal after being told about this restaurant. We elected to sit at the kitchen bar and it was a blast. The chef talked to us as he prepared the meals and it was entertaining and educational. We went with the ribs and steak. The meat was great! The BBQ sauce on the ribs was a bit too sweet for me but they were still great, nonetheless. Steak had an amazing wood fire taste. And it's a BYOB so you can't go wrong here!!! DEFINITELY going back again and again!!!"

When we asked our waitress how this happened, she said "oh we wash our silverware in vinegar and it gets mixed up sometimes," which grossed us out even more. We were not even offered a bottle of water to kinda make up for it. No apologies really at all. Yuck!"

  • "I haven't been to Matt's in about maybe 3 years and I liked it back then. However, on this trip my wife and I thought the food was unremarkable considering the cost. I had a ribeye steak and it was way over cooked, I asked for med rare, and it came with a brown gravy on it which basically over powers the steak. We also heard another table was having issues with their steaks too. I ordered the romaine lettuce which is grilled slightly with parmesan cheese served warm. Mine came almost cold and was barely grilled. So they reversed the process, lettuce not enough and steak too much. Flemington has such poor restaurants, too bad this one is slipping a bit downhill."

  • "First time and won't be our last. Food was superb and we had the pleasure of sitting at Chef table. Everyone was attentive, not overbearing and atmosphere had the right vibe for any occasion. Selected steaks for dinner and they were AMAZING and the sauce was go good it was drinkable. If the fried green tomatoes are on the menu they too are must have. Can't say enough great things about this place except u must go and see for yourself..... thanks Chef Matt for the strawberry dessert at the end of our dinner. U made someone's night even more special with that extra thought."

  • "If in the area, you must visit Matt's Red Rooster Grill. We make a special trip to Flemington just to go there. The menu is very original, and always delicious. There is nothing like the open fire grill flavor. In the summer the porch is open for dining, which is nice. Although it is a bit pricey, it is BYOB so that makes it very affordable."

Everything was delicious and cooked just right. Dave, our server, was fantastic! This is one of our favorite restaurants!"

  • "The restaurant is a gem! My husband and I enjoyed our first experience there, and we left with all smiles. From the moment you walked in you just knew you were in great hands! The service and the staff were great and knowledgable to answer every question with honesty. The prices were spot on. The chef - let's call him "mister perfect" (as our meals were flawless) cooks in an open kitchen which is great to watch and it's nice to see someone take such pride in their work. I highly recommend a meal there, you won't be disappointed, unless you're a fast food junkie!!"
