Matchbox - ChinatownBest Burgers in the DMVThis was the perfect place to celebrate my son's 8th grade promotion. He loves burgers and said it was the best he's had in the DMV!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMatchbox- awesomeWe really enjoyed everything we had. Great food and service.
We highly recommend it.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA surprisingly pleasant experienceNot knowing what to expect based on the many types of restaurants in this area, I was happy to see an interesting setup and architecture with great seating in every room (and many of them). The service was superb and it was obvious someone has been training the staff and performing quality control checks. To make it even better our table had two different pizzas, the tuna salad, and the arugula salad - and each one was outstanding in taste and presentation - with no leftovers from anybody. Thanks for a very nice supper!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Fire and Smoke pizza isThe Fire and Smoke pizza is tremendous--rich flavor with a bit of heat, but not overwhelming.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLove MatchboxAlways have a great meal here, the pizza is fabulous!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMSparkling menuThe dinner menu choices are superb, good selection of entrees, and options for several inventive pizzas and hearty sandwiches. I had an Asian inspired scallop entree special--with rice noodles and vegetables as a side. The scallops had a bit more salt than I like, and a cilantro infused sauce. The scallop crust was a little too salty for my taste and I am not a fan if cilantro, or I would have rated it ( stars. My companion chose and enjoyed the side salad and shrimp and grits. We shared the dessert pizza, nice flavors.
Couple next to us on their first date seemed to be enjoying the ambience.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMatchbox is a favorite!!!I dined at Matchbox with 9 of my friends and we had a delightful time. The food was great, the service was timely and friendly and we had an awesome time. The server even went to the trouble of splitting the bill for all of us, which I know can be a hassle. I'll definitely be back and I can't wait!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFarewell to KatieOur co-worker chose Matchbox for her farewell luncheon. The menu accommodated most of our office however the absence of vegan options was an issue, an unexpected one as well given the location. That being said, those who were able to eat there enjoyed the meal and found the selections excellent. The venue was extremely noisy but we did enjoy ourselves.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMPizza was yummy...my onlyPizza was yummy...my only complaint was they didn't have their white wine chilled. Waitress brought over a champagne bucket and ice to help it chill but it took some time!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite places. One of my favorite places. Can't beat the cinnamon rolls5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect!Went for a group dinner with 6 and the resturant was able to reserve a spot for us. Flexible to change the reservation time to a time that was more convinent for the group. Food was warm, fresh and delicious. Great and appropriate food portions. The interior decorations was lovely and set a nice mood for the rest of the night. Great place!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood, friendly service andGood, friendly service and tasty food made this a great choice for mothers day brunch with the whole family. One down side: lousy bloody marys. Come on guys.....watery tomato juice, vodka, and one sad piece of celery does not make for a good bloody....use a mix if you need to! Add a lime! An olive! Some spice! Otherwise, great food and service.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat stuff! As the server said, they are known for their mini burgers and pizza, but please don't sleep on the cinnamon buns! They are ridiculous!
Great food! Great service! Great place!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSo Impressed!Amazing. One restaurant who actually read my comments on Open Table. Mom 82-bucket list trip never been to DC. The restaurant sat us in wonderful booth (requested) and the proceeded to offer a very special complimentary appetizer and a dessert to our group to celebrate this occasion. It was so special. My mom felt like a queen ...beyond it, the food was absolutely delicious and the pricing so reasonable. As a meeting/event planner, I will also recommend this restaurant to groups going to DC. We live in Southern California so now planning to one day head to Palm Springs to try the sister restaurant. I definitely have Matchbox Chinatown in my rolodex of preferred restaurants in DC. Thank you!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Pizza!Great little place in Chinatown. Matchbox's varieties of pizzas are amazing! Our waitress was very nice and accommodating, but I thought that she could have used a second server to help with all of us.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, great service.Good food, great service. Best bread pudding I've had in DC. Pizza was good but a bit oily.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly great brunch,Surprisingly great brunch, definitely a sleeper. Hostess sat us in a perfect area after requesting a high-chair for my nephew.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time here...went becauseFirst time here...went because it was recommended by a friend....Matchbox didn't disappoint! Awesome jalapeño margarita!!!!! Great place to hang out with friends!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service at MatchboxThe food and service at Matchbox was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their meals and our server was excellent. The biggest down side was the booth we sat in. When a group was seated in the booth behind us, we could feel their every move, to the point of being literally jolted forward. Hopefully Matchbox will fix this problem soon - but in the mean time I recommend sitting at the tables with chairs and avoiding the booths.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect spot for a centralPerfect spot for a central but out-of-the-way lunch. Had a small group (4) and we were able to sit in quiet spot upstairs.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI can't help myself... I loveI can't help myself... I love this place. Waiter disappeared after a while and it was very, very loud, but otherwise it was very good.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a 9 year old boy withWe had a 9 year old boy with us at dinner. The waitress was amazing! She brought him pizza dough to play with while we waited for the food and then while we finished our wine the waitress took him to watch the chefs putting the pizzas in the oven. Overall a great experience! Not to mention the food was delicious as always.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Dinner before Hockey GameLooked on Opentable for a spot to get a casual dinner for self and three college students before a Washington Caps hockey game. Half a block from Gallery Place Metro entrance on 7th and H. A block and a half from Verizon Center. Place was great, exceeding expectations. Eclectic setting since it the building is tall and narrow, with may stairs and many different seaing areas. Service was excellent. Appetizers were delicioous (the sliders are a meal in themselves.) Artisan pizza was very good too. I was concerned about getting in and out in an hour, but we did it comfortably and the staff was geared up for pre-game fans. We will definitely return for our annual hockey outing.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
