Mat & Naddie'sReview of Matt & NADDIEThe food and service were excellent. What was a nightmare was trying to make the reservation via Open Table. It took me 6 tries and lasted a half hour to finally get it right. The reservation kept getting the date wrong and then kept getting the number of people wrong. I would definitely tell people to stay away from Open Table reservation because it is absolutely not user friendly.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLocal FavoriteAs always our dining experience at Mat and Naddie's was excellent. It is such an unexpected funky gem by the river. We ate outside on the back wooden deck and enjoyed the bright art and natural pots of flowers and herbs that decorate the space. I enjoyed the Smoked Shiitake Mushrooms and Brown Jasmine-Black Sesame Lunar Rice Cakes that are served in a Thai red curry stew, with squash and sweet pepper ragoût and garlic . ( It is a vegan option , but I think anyone would love this savory dish) My husband had the steak and raved about it. Truly one of my favorite restaurants in the city. If you love simple , creative food that is based on local offerings served in low key atmosphere filled with locals and has a cool vibe - this is your place.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat serviceOur waitress was very attentive and helpful. The food was excellent.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSo much fun!A funky neighborhood restaurant with white tablecloths (covered with white butcher paper). Great food. Try the savory cheesecake!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMenjoyable eveningStaff was very welcoming and accommodating. Opening drinks were excellent as was the salads, dessert and entrees.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousAmazing food, several locally grown/caught dishes, great service.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were very good! We were sitting next to the outside catering truck and the staff there were very noisy. The server told us that it "added to the ambience". But, when we sat down, we were the only people there and could have been placed a little farther from the noise. Aside from that, I would go back in a heartbeat.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner club - party of 6Our experience was fabulous including our server, our cocktails, our appetizers, entrees and desserts. The food was full of fresh vegetables and herbs and tended to be on the lighter side with great flavors. We would definitely come back and the vegetable and herb gardens in the front of the restaurant are fabulous!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat neighborhood gem!Everything about this friendly neighborhood restaurant is fantastic. The food is thoughtful and unique, and always spot on – stuff I'd never think to or easily be able to make at home. The service is top-notch, very knowledgeable but not stuffy.
We sat outside on the patio (which is great), I've never sat inside (by choice) because it's always been beautiful weather when I go.
I highly recommend.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday dinnerGreat food, wonderful place for conversation, delightful ambience in old house.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA night outMat & Naddie's is one of my favorite restaurants in the City. Creative menu, cool groove and good wines are the fare.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place was adorable, especiallyThe place was adorable, especially walking in. The ambience was very nice, authentic New Orleans. The food was very good. The chicken dish, dont remember the name was outstanding and the maytag blue cheese salad and beet salad was great.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to Mat and Naddie's and we could not have enjoyed ourselves more. Our waiter was fantastic and extremely helpful with assisting us select our entrees, and I thought the wine and liquor selection was very impressive for a smaller restaurant. I ordered the Steen’s Cane Syrup Lacquered Duck, and I'll simply say that it was hands down one of the best meals I have ever had.We will definitely be going back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMa very special and cool place.a very special and cool place. Great atmosphere...a great view of the sunset over the river levy...food is really outstanding...great wines and super service.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my fifth or sixthThis was my fifth or sixth visit there and I can honestly say that the food, which is always good, is better than ever. The use of locavore gems and thoughtful wine choices, by the waitress no less, made the meal memorable. The ambiance is great. When a rather large party sat next to us, the volume reached a rather high level, but that's a trade off I'm willing to make for an intimate bistro experience.
On a negative note, I have to say, that I've never been greeted enthusiastically when entering this restaurant (I bathe regularly and wear deodorant and cologne), and sometimes feel not particularly welcome there. This is something management can address easily and should.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was special. SaladThe food was special. Salad was delicious and the shrimp Tenkatsu was perfect.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable dinner, fantastic serviceMy dinner companion and I had, between us, artichoke red pepper cheesecake, bacon wrapped scallops on wilted greens, mushroom risotto, chicken, a wonderful filet. We shared a creme brûlée for dessert. It was all very lovely with a nice bottle of Malbec to top it all off.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDuck was great, as was theDuck was great, as was the Shrimp K___. Really nice, different wine list which is very reasonable. We loved the claret. And...the outside patio was fabulous. Have to go back soon.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOut of the way gemWe loved everything about this converted neighborhood house. The staff was friendly and knowledgable without being in our way. The food was varied and interesting and perfectly prepared. The desserts were out of this world. A perfect excursion on the street car from Downtown.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
