  • "My wife & I recently celebrated our anniversary @ Mastros and the experience was excellent!!! I read several reviews which all agreed the food was spectacular & it did not disappoint!!! Some reviewers stated it was far too noisy however I enjoyed the upbeat ambience and live band near the bar which played contemporary music which my wife & I appreciated. Somewhat dim lighting but didn't bother us much. My ribeye & my wife's filet were cooked to perfection! The scallops were excellent & the butter cake was second to none!! Prices were comparable to that of a 5 star restaurant. As a steak connoisseur, Mastros definitely ranks in my top 5. Excellent for entertaining or special occasions."

  • "With the exception of the darker-than-night lighting, Mastro's is everything a great steakhouse should be~ terrific steaks and delicious vegetable dishes eaten in a posh but relaxed atmosphere. Why the lighting is essentially nonexistent I don't know (and I hope they change that), but the food is wonderful though steakhouse pricey. We were lucky with our fabulous, experienced server who made spot on suggestions. The bone-in filet was scrumptious with a good rub of spices; the onion rings among the best we ever had. Mushrooms were simply but perfectly cooked. Roasted Brussels Sprouts are fantastic. A gargantuan piece of chocolate layer cake was impressive but too sweet; breads were warm and tasty with good butter, including pretzel breads."

  • "Wow. What a great experience we had at Mastro's! Though the hostess at the front was not terribly friendly, and there was a large, noisy, obviously inebriated group standing in the lobby, once we sat down at our table, things went from questionable to magnificent. Our waiter, Brian greeted us immediately. He was personable, respectful, friendly, and, best of all, knowledgeable. He covered the specials with us, describing each one with vivid detail. He answered all of our questions patiently and thoroughly as well. The food was absolutely delectable--an epicurean delight--and when we ordered the meal, he paired a PERFECT wine with it. His attention to detail was not intrusive, yet we were well cared for. He is a GEM at this restaurant."

  • "From the time I entered the restaurant to celebrate the birthday of a great friend, I was very impressed and knew I had chosen the correct dining spot. The restaurant featured dimmed lighting and a piano bar where we were able to sit in a corner booth and take in all of the experience. The service was next to none and the food (filet and Alaskan Halibut) were both out of this world. Mastro's rises to the top of my dining list. I would recommend this restaurant to those who are celebrating or those who want an incredible night out on the town."

  • "Mastros is always our favorite pick when it comes to steak houses- we always leave happy! I knew I had to finally write a review after our last experiences since management handled an unfortunate situation so well. The table next to us had an extremely personal and traumatic situation occur and management went above and beyond to take care of us accordingly for having to be involved. Thank you again, Mastros, we will be back soon!"

  • "The actual restaurant called me the day of to confirm my reservation and to ask me about the notes I wrote, when I had reserved. My boyfriend and I had a 9:30 reservation, we get to the restaurant about 15 minutes early and the restaurant was able to seat us right away. The place is very dark, but luckily our table was right up against the champagne bottle lighted display, that we had good light. You know it is very dark when the Waiters have flashlights. We ordered the chopped salad and they split it in two plates without us even asking. My boyfriend ordered the 33 oz steak, medium, he said it was amazing. One of the sides we ordered was the creamed corn, it was so rich and creamy. I ordered the crap cakes, cooked to perfection."

  • "Brought two girlfriends here to celebrate their birthdays. The food and the service were outstanding. Two complaints - It was too dark in the dining room. It didn't look romantic, it look like a power outage or that someone forgot to pay the light bill. Second, the Dearborn street bridge was out from June 24- June 28, it would have been nice to have known this information ahead of time. The restaurant is on Dearborn, so they must have known. I would definitely go to this restaurant again."

  • "My fifth star is always for value, and while I cannot find any fault with Mastro's in any of the rated categories, their prices are over the top. In fairness, the prices at most of the highly rated steak houses are over the top, and in my opinion unjustifiable. Chicken for $33 and a tomato and onion salad for $12 are but two examples."

  • "I would highly recommend Mastro's if you are looking for outstanding food. Our server Bill was incredible! A trained level 2 Sommelier, his recommendations were spot on. (Who knew you would find an incredible Washington wine?) Overall if you want to impress this is the place to go. But budget accordingly. Dinner for three with drinks, no appetizers or dessert was $500. However that was certainly the best spent $500 for dinner in a long time!!! I cannot wait to go back."

  • "Due to inclement weather on Saturday, I had to make a quick location change for my birthday dinner. Thankfully, Mastro's was able to accommodate a party of 8 without any issue. Our server, Scott, was very attentive and knowledgable and charming, to boot. The food and wine was delicious. As the night went along, additional friends joined the party and they graciously accommodated us in a room upstairs and kept the drinks and wine flowing."

  • "EXCELLENT! If you want to treat yourself to a great dining experience, this is the place. We were a group of 5 celebrating a graduation and our every desire was exceeded. The steak melts in your mouth and the crab legs are succulent and sweet. You have to finish with the chocolate cake. Too die for. I have already made a reservation to go back next month."

  • "Ambiance: The place is DARK! I found it difficult to read the menu. It also grew to be pretty loud. We asked to be seated at a quieter table but it was still difficult to carry on a conversation. Service: Very attentive and helpful waiter. Food: My wife ordered the filet and thought it was outstanding. I had the Chilean sea bass which was also outstanding, although I found the center of the cut to be raw and sent it back. When the waiter returned with my fish, my wife had finished her steak. We ordered garlic mashed potatoes which were delicious and creamy. The sugar peas were very lightly sauteed and too underdone for my liking. We ordered their Signature butter cake for dessert. Fabulous! Likely my favorite dessert."

  • "Loud drums in the bar band way out of line for an expensive restaurant. The music blasted back into the far reaches of the detached dining room as well as the large dining area where the band is located. Not sure why the drums were even there, as they added nothing to the music. Food was excellent, but our waitress was inattentive and "canned" in approach, not the level of server I expected for a place of this caliber. This my our third visit to Mastro's and we were very disappointed."

  • "Maestro has great cocktails and has potential to be a great steakhouse however, as a foodie I was disappointed by several things. #1 My husband and I have eaten at some other top steakhouse and both agree that your steaks lack flavor compared to what we've had. They were bland and could use some seasoning. #2 The lights in the restaurant are dimmed much too low that it's impossible to see your food. #3 the bar area was very loud and uncomfortable. I was on a double date and we couldn't hear each other speak. Soft piano music would've been better for this type of setting."

  • "We tried Mastro's for the first time after travelling to the City to see Mama Mia. The food and service were spectacular! The portions were large, including the cocktails. We shared a salad, which was plenty. We had filet mignon, which was incredibly flavorful and tender. A great first experience. We will definitely return."

Resturant , as a service to the customer that has spent money at the establishment, should enforce followup from a Valet service that they Contract with, and they should also make sure that the Valet Service has Liability Coverage."
