  • "The decor was very nice, the service was Great, but this had to be the most expensive place we have ever been to, falling short in the taste department. The steak was nicely cooked to a medium inside but charred on the outside. The risotto with scallops was good but small on the portion considering it cost more then the steak. Too much money to pay for less then superb food."

  • "Was not impressed with the food. I think this place is popular because of the location and all of the hype surrounding it. The dishes we had contained way too much butter and my stomach paid for it until the following morning. Food also left the most unpleasant after taste. I would not go again. :-("

  • "Went for our anniversary and couldn't be happier. Had the Australian Wagyu - 33 ounces was enough for two with a little to bring home. Wanted all of the side dishes, so Peter suggested we get half sizes which were fantastic. Topped it off with the fantastic butter cake. Great Food, Great Service, Great Restaurant."

  • "Upon entering the restaurant, my girlfriend and I were immediately greeted and sat down almost instantly. We were given bread and drinks not even a couple minutes after being seated. We were constantly checked on by the servers, and our drinking glasses were never empty. Our dinner was absolutely spectacular, and they ended the night by bringing out a cake for my girlfriend's birthday. The service was speedy, the people were extremely friendly, and the environment was just right. Mastro's might seem a bit pricey at first glance, but it is worth every penny. I highly recommend Mastro's to anyone, because, quite frankly, they have some of the best service I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing."

  • "I eat here whenever possible, usually every 6 weeks or so. The waitress certainly tried hard but there were consistent problems with the service. It took 20 minutes to get bread and 30 minutes for entrees to arrive. Waitress consistenly keep me informed of delays and apologize. Even took the wine corkage charge off bill. Still, for this kind of money, it should be spot on."

  • "My wife and I have been to the restaurant on several occasions. We usually love the food and dinning experience. But this last time our waiter was horrible. It took him too long to greet us and offer a drink. When he discussed the menu he only looked at me and never once looked at my wife. It made us feel he did not respect women. During our meal he only checked on us one time and my drink was empty. At the end when we finished our meal I told him we were finished but it took a long time to get the bill. Overall he made our experience forgetful."

  • "We did not have the greatest service. We weren't seated until nearly 25 minutes after our reservation time. When Mastro's called earlier in the day to confirm the reservation, I told them that it was my fiance's birthday and they asked what kind of cake he wanted. I told them chocolate cake and how to spell his name. Unfortunately, they came out with the wrong cake, and spelled his name wrong on the plate. Also, they pack up our leftovers for us to take home. When we got home, we realized that we didn't get all of our leftovers. For a dinner that cost over $200 with tip, I expected a better experience."

  • "The ambiance here is the best in Thousand Oaks. The entertainment is very good. Food is very good too, quality beef. As for service, sadly it was not the best tonight. My spouse and I each ordered our own appetizer, but one was served and not the other. We had to remind the waiter that we ordered it. After our appetizer dishes were cleared, it was another 20 minutes before dinner arrived. One of the sides was not served. It took a while for us to get the waiters attention to remind him of the missing side. The side was finally served AFTER we finished our meal, "no charge" was offered. Lastly, they gave us the WRONG LEFTOVERS bag. Lots of "sorry's" from the staff for all the mixups, but really, service was NOT UPSCALE at all."

This time it was unfortunate, sat there for 10mins, then after that we have to look for our waiter. He simply walk pass our table. It was not that busy. The food here is great as always. I ordered Ono it was great. The band was great, ambiance was good."

  • "New favorite restaurant! I am a vegetarian and chose to go to Mastros for their mouthwatering warm butter cake. Our server suggested that I meet the chef and hear what his recommendation was. A few minutes later, Chef Adrian appeared at our table and asked me what I felt like eating. When I told him pasta, you could see his wheels turning. He had just made fresh pasta dough and said that he could roll out a fresh pasta dish made to my specifications. I told him that I love truffle cream sauce and that's exactly what I got! Later, he returned back to our table to see how I liked it! I loved that I could give my input and wasn't told that they don't have that on the menu! The rest of my family all eat meat, and loved every bite. So delicious!"

  • "We came early (5:45) last Saturday evening with friends who had never come before. While the beef was outstanding, as usual, the macaroni and cheese was flavorless (I had raved about the dish) and the scalloped potatoes cold. We had never had an off note at this restaurant before. The other side dish we ordered, the gnocchi with crab and truffles was delicious. The noise level was also unacceptable. Hard to hear our table companions. I'm not sure our friends will come back."

  • "This was the 11th time I have dined here in 3 years. This time was one of the worst overall experiences I have had at any restaurant, especially one that although a chain, gets top dollar for food and drink. Waited over 45 minutes for table that was reserved 3 weeks in advance, then put in what I call their overflow room, no ambience, outside area which has been converted to a dining room. Very crowded. Obviously overbooked counting on some not showing and then all showed up. Food was not up to usual standards. Wait staff very harried. Stuff happens but this was just too much. Will be a long time, if ever, before I return."

  • "The steak was out of this world. We ordered a crab leg appetizer that was the best I ever had. The red wine i was recommended was exactly what I wanted and was the best wine Ive tasted in the past year. I heard a lot about this place but it exceeded my expectations. My only gripe is that the dinning seating was too close together where you could over hear your neighbors personal conversations. I wish they spent a little more money on more private seating. Next time I will get a table in the bar."

  • "For starters, we saw the bus boy (replenishing our water) more than we saw our waiter. I wonder if it was because we were not White enough. The lobster tails were over-cooked and a bit on the salty side. Probably should have just stuck to the seafood tower. And, the bone in ribeye was not as perfect as I've had them in the past. Very disappointing meal this time, especially as compared to the last one we had in Beverly Hills just a month ago. I wonder if the chef had an off night because the restaurant was fully booked."
