The service was outstanding as my son's steak had to be cooked twice and it was still not what he ordered but our waiter made up for whatever else was lacking in the kitchen. My halibut was too plain but everything else and the sides were fantastic. I would return to this restaurant often if it weren't for the outrageous prices. This makes this restaurant on my list only for occasions, where you don't mind spending $50 + dollars for each entree that comes a la carte! The shrimp cocktail on dry ice was very impressive and the shrimp were perfect big and not rubbery the horseradish was really hot and fresh! The wedge salad and pretzel bread was a big hit. The New York bone in was very good and we had to try the gnocchi which was so good but so rich but we were warned. The service from hostess waiter to bus boy was excellent. The prices were high but the food was absolutely fabulous! We can't afford to dine as we did, too often, but for a special occasion it was the best value. My wife's rack of lamb and my in-bone filet were magnificent; crab cakes and scallops in Risotto were superb. Portions? Don't eat before dining here. The Cherry Crisp with ice cream and fresh whipped cream were sinfully delicious. Fine breads and wine, a good bar drink: Wow! The steak and salmon were absolutely amazing. I went there for my birthday and they brought out chocolate cake and house made whipped cream. Everything about Mastro's is first-class, elegant and high end dining to the fullest. It was the first time we had the Seafood Tower and it was probably some of the best seafood we have ever had. The service was perfect. We sat in the Outdoor patio which was lovely and much quieter than the main dining room. The bar was so noisy, we considered sitting there, but glad we decided against it. Beverly hills location is tremendous as well. Steaks are delicious, appetizers are amazing and nice size portions too. We went our 2 younger children and they were made to feel entirley welcome. Our waiter was outstanding - the service is always exceptional.
I can on for hours about the pros - the only con I see is the beer selection is not what one would expect from a world class steak house. NO draft offered at all and the bottle selections were weak, at best. I ordered the bone-in filet which was good but also over cooked and not as juicy as I had expected. The mashed potatoes & sautéed asparagus were good. This occasion we requested the wine room where we like to dine when entertaining. The occasion was our 15 year old son's birthday. Along with my wife were three of our son's friends.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals although I found my veal chop to be extra fatty and didn't finish it.

Everything about our dinner was superb, including the service. My husband ordered the 18 oz. bone-in filet; he said it was delicious. I loved the Scottish salmon; the outside was just a bit crunchy, the inside moist and flaky.
We loved the lobster mashed potatoes; asparagus was cooked al dente - perfect. Because we wanted to try the butter cake (scrumptious!) we took at least half the potatoes home.

We did not like the twice baked potato at all, it was actually bad, but they did remove the item from the bill.
The bread was horrible, the bagel bread was way to salty but the best of the bunch.
I thought the seating was a little crunched together.
Our favorite was the music and live singing.

It was my guest's birthday and he is sober. Our waiter honored my request to offer diet coke with lemon and not offer a cocktail menu, thank you very much. The service was perfect and my house special cocktail was amazing. The service was attentive while still affording our privacy. The chocolate birthday cake was unexpected and delicious. As usual, Mastro's did not disappoint. It was a Saturday night and the the bar was lively and quite energetic as you would expect. We arrived early enough to be able to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail and our martinis were expertly made and served ice cold. We also made a couple of new friends, another couple dining that evening at the bar. When the time came for our reservation, we were seated immediately at an intimate table on the far side of the dining room. Our waiter was very knowledgable about both the wine list and the menu. The bar area is energetic, live entertainment that really is excellent with a diverse sound. Lots of fun at our table always, but the live music really adds to the party. The steaks are incredible
excellent quality meats that are prepared PERFECTLY to order. The menu offers a huge variety of appetizers, sides, salads and soups-something for everyone. The Dungeness Crab Cocktail at $25 is worth every penny, lots of fresh crab pieces!
The atmosphere is upscale, really upscale yet patrons dress in variety of styles. The seats are COMFORTABLE.The bar is beautiful.Last but certainly not least-the STAFF IS AMAZING.Sam was great during the reservation process.
