  • "This is our favorite place to go when we're wanting good steak. Not only is the food amazing but the seating and bar area are really nice. We love the ambiance. It's good for a romantic date or special occassion. Their cosmos with the dry ice are my favorite. Favoire dish is the NY steak and lobster mash potatoes."

  • "We are regulars here but recent visit was disappointing. We were seated and the first thing our server said to us was "we have 3-5 minutes to get order in because kitchen is closing". We make our reservation on opentable so why would you rush our order in like this? We are regulars and were shocked to hear this! Further, we were rushed with entrees the entire meal with salad being served with our steak coming on top of it instead of afterward. This was a night for two at $340+ dollars....this is not the way you treat a customer that gives you this type of business 1-3 times per week."

  • "Ran a little late to my reservation for my birthday party . Gave them a call . When I arrived , they directed me to the bar where my party was waiting . No rush , suggested I get situated and when I was ready they would kindly seat me . Had a great table over looking the outdoor area . Service was fantastic . The food was great and the overall vibe was right on point . Cant wait to return! Oh , and got a call from them this morning asking how our night was . Nice!"

  • "Everything we ordered, from the drunken shrimp, steak, and lobster potatoes especially were excellent. Our server sort of came off like a car salesman, talking to us a bit like we were born yesterday. It really was not a big problem, but thought I should mention if that sort of thing bothers you. It is pricey, but it is a great place to go for a special occasion. We were there for my hubby's 35th birthday, and when I called beforehand to ask if we could be seated with a view, they couldn't guarantee it. I assumed we would most likely not get one, but we did! I was really happy and pleasantly surprised that they actually put in the effort. We had a wonderful time, and the cocktails were out of this world too!"

  • "After a day of golf at Pelican Hill, I met a few friends for dinner at Mastro's Ocean Club for dinner. Our reservation was at 6:45 and we were promptly seated. After a few cocktails we ordered dinner: two filets, one New York strip, one salmon with lobster mashed potatoes, asparagus and sautéed mushrooms for our sides. Accompanied with a couple of bottles of Cade cabernet sauvignon, our dinner was excellent. We split the warm butter cake amongst the four of us which was a nice topper to the meal when it was divided up. Our server, Jamie, was absolutely fantastic and if you have the opportunity you should request her. This was my second time at the Ocean Club and both were great dining experiences."

  • "We had an 8:45pm reservation but 25 mins passed and no one came to seat us. I complained so they gave us a table 5 mins later. We got a bad table so I asked for a specific table that was open. They said they had to check. While we were waiting, the gave the table to another party that came long after we did. I complained and the mgr was nice enough to give us a better table that was quiet about 10 mins later. NY steak was perfect. The fish was good. Fries were burned so they replaced them with limp fries. Yuk. Brussels sprouts were greasy. I asked for ketchup but didn't get it till I asked the manger who happened to be checking up on us."

  • "Our party of four was seated promptly for our 6 PM reservation. The server pushed a "seafood tower" appetizer for the table. Very expensive, so we declined. I ordered the blackened mahi-mahi ($29) with a side of salt and vinegar fries ($11). The fish was good, the shoestring fries were overcooked (dark brown) and tasteless. My wife ordered the petit filet ($31) medium rare. It was served well done, no pink at all. The dessert menu is uninspired. The server pushed the "butter cake". We declined dessert. We all had two glasses of wine served by the glass. No coffee or tea. Nevertheless, the bill for four was just under $400, including a 15% tip. This was my third - and last - visit to Mastros. Leave this place to the tourists."

  • "Food very overrated. My lobster tails had to be sent back they were so oversalted that the only taste was salt. The replacement was only slightly less salty so there was no typical sweet lobster meat taste. It too so long for the second plate to arrive that after a few bites I gave up. We had a 5:15 reservation and were not seated until 5:35 even though there were only one other couple and a party of four waiting to be seated. My husband loves rib eye and did not eat much of his as there was way too much fat even for a rib eye. The flourless chocolate cake was excellent so at least we finished the meal on a positive note."

A few days before our dinner, I made a reservation at the very popular Maestros and requested if possible a view table for a special birthday. We given the best table in the house with an ocean view, at 7:15 no less! The evening proceeded to be an amazing success from then on as well. From our server Elaine, who worked with our timing, to fabulous cocktails, actually cocktails and a half, to great pours of wine, amazing food and the complementary birthday dessert, we all agreed it was a special evening and couldn't have been better. We have had dinners where we spend $80 and feel ripped off, and to dinners where we spend $400 and had the best night. This was one of those!"

  • "The epitome of fine dining. White linens (unless you wear black, then you get a black napkin per etiquette standards), good view of the water across PCH, and phenomenal service. From the multiple greetings as we were escorted to our table, to the attentive bus staff to the incredible wait staff. Everyone made eye contact (which I miss in Casual California) and really listened to us. I love to take the advice of the waiter and eat what they suggest and how they suggest it done. I figure they know the specialties and intricacies the best. This was one if those perfect meals. Our dinner was completely collaborative and customized. The entire evening was one to remember. For a special evening out, this is one of the best in Otange County."

  • "My husband and I finally went to Mastros Ocean Club to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary. Several friends had highly recommended Mastros and we see why. Alisha, our server was very knowledgeable and fun. The food was wonderful and the portions most generous, we brought home enough for a meal the next day. The bar scene is vibrant and the entertainment was great. We were seated by a window with an ocean view, what's not to like! We will definitely be back, with friends, no complaints!"

  • "This is our first visit to the Newport Beach location & right off the bat, driving up PCH we were in awe with the view. The valet was very attentive & friendly. Our server, Damon, was truly the highlight of our experience. Damon was friendly, sociable & very attentive. We dined in the patio area & the heat lamps were perfect. Damon frequently checked on the temp to ensure we were comfortable. Our food, as always, was delicious. We are definitely returning to this location."

  • "Took my wife here for her birthday. It was our first time at the Newport Beach location and we enjoyed it more than the SouthCoast location. Aside from overlooking the ocean, the interior was much warmer and relaxed. The service was amazing. Our wait staff made sure our drinks were always full and that we had everything we needed. The food was also as amazing as always. Nothing bad to say."

  • "This was an experience in eating. The service was the best, I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tartare. The Ahi was good, but unfortunately, it was drowned in soy or ponzu sauce. My wife had the Crab Cakes and they were excellent. Order the Scollops! They were cooked just right: not to soft/ not to tough. The 12oz. Bone-in Filet was very tender Flavor, was lacking a bit: a bit to salty too. Our waiter graciously cut it in half and cooked each piece to our perfection, which I was really impressed by. We Celebrated our anniversary here and they did not forget to make it right. Thanks to the manager, Dale, who came to say hello and made sure we got a good table."

  • "Mastro's is extremely popular and as a result very busy. Booked in advance and let them know it was our anniversary but we got a table that seemed to be placed where it should have been a walkway instead. Our server Candace was great but some of the bus staff kept running into my wife's chair. Not one apologized. One even dropped a steak knife on the floor and didn't come back to pick it up. We had to wave our server over and tell her. The food was also over salted that night. Scalloped potatoes were I edible and sadly had to be sent back. But at the end they comp'd us a piece of chocolate cake for our anniversary. I've dined here at least a dozen times and this time seemed very subpar except for our server."
