Very noisy room - really, really noisy. Even though the floor is carpeting with very thin industrial carpeting, the ceiling is wood and low -- so noise just blasts across the room.

The service was great. The food was fantastic; from the pretzel bread to the seafood and steak, spinach, garlic mashed potatoes to the dessert of Warm Butter Cake. I do believe this restaurant "can" be kid friendly if you go early enough (like we did). However, there is no kids menu that we were told about. It is a very pricey restaurant but well worth it. Normally, I would say adults only but on special occasions I think children will find plenty of things to enjoy. The chef's special lobster bisque is wonderful and we all enjoyed our meals. A table favorite was the bone-in filet and the halibut.

The seafood tower always makes a great impression on new customers and the seafood is excellent. The large shrimp, oysters, mussels, crab and lobster are tough to beat. Steaks were very good (although not the best I've had) and so were the scalloped potatoes. We usually have the lobster mash which is excellent, but tried the scalloped this time and found another winner. The signature butter cake was also excellent. The wines were generally good, but most are 2010's and still a little young. Also had live music (piano player and singer) which were a very nice touch. Also at the right sound level so you can have reasonable conversations. An excellent choice for a business dinner or treat your spouse.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AM70th Birthday CelebrationMy husband and I celebrated his 70th birthday at Mastro's Ocean Club. It is a beautiful restaurant and we had a lovely table next to a window overlooking the ocean. My husband must have a low sodium, no sodium meal which can be challenging dining out. Our servers were very helpful, cheerful and attentive without intruding.The kitchen was most accomodating. We enjoyed a lovely chilean sea bass and a filet mignon as well as green beans with toasted almonds--all very tasty with no salt. I had mentioned in my reservation that this was a special birthday and we were surprised with chocolate dipped strawberries and whipped cream with happy 70th birthday written around the edge of the plate. The restaurant was quiet when we first arrived but filled in nicely as the evening went on. The place had a nice energy and from where we were seated in the solarium, we were afforded excellent views of the ocean and sunset. The food was of the high quality you would expect at an establishment such as this (very fresh and bountiful seafood and tender steaks) but it was our servers, Mark and Katie were the highlight of the evening. They provided phenomenal service and were very knowledgeable about food prep, sourcing of ingredients and wine selections. Although when we were seated they were going to put us in the main dining room so we had to ask for a more private table and the receptionist didnt seem to mind. They found us a great table by the window. They also made sure we had the world famous Butter cake which will absolutely Rock your soul! They even wrote "Happy Anniversary" on the plate in Chocolate. Everyone was so helpful and polite. The Waiter suggested a better option for my wife's entree, I think he must've read her mind because it was perfect! Lastly even the bread guy made sure we had some great bread to take with us. If you've ever had a baguette in France, this bread tops that! I was out in the area for a work conference and went to Mastro's with my wife and a business associate. We had a great table with a view of the ocean. We all had bone-in filets and they were cooked to perfection - 2 medium rares & 1 rare plus. Our server also suggested adding on a jumbo prawn to each of our orders and we were not disappointed! The wine list was exceptional and were very happy with our selection. After dinner, we went to the bar for an after dinner drink and Jay was great! Try the Manhattan!! From the moment we arrived we received 5-star treatment. The host who seated us made a last-minute adjustment when we asked for a different table. Our server and his team were just outstanding. Personable yet professional. Mastro's is pricey, but in our opinion worth every penny. The food was outstanding (we both said our respective fish entrees were the best we had ever had) and the pace of service was perfect. We started with great appetizers of sashimi and mussels. Both perfectly prepared. The mussels were more than enough for two.First, be aware that a good section of the restaurant is dimly lit. So out comes a 32 ounce bone in ribeye to share along with mushrooms and a one pound potato. The steak is so full of grizzle and the room so dark that we cannot see well enough to navigate to the edible portion. We finally give up and inform our server. She offers to replace, inform the chef, etc. The maitre d' removes the charge from our tab and sends us home with a complimentary steak. Bar was nice, but nowhere to stand and or sit with your drink, they had turned all of the cocktail tables into dining tables. Everyone at the bar was eating so no movement to sit down. This is our second year in a row doing so and it seems to get better and better. Last year Chris waited on us and did a spectacular job, he even remembered us this year when he saw us at the bar enjoying some drinks. Ryan was our server this year and he was fantastic, service was on point and throughout our dining experience he anticipated our every need. The seafood tower was impressive with the dry ice, nice touch. The hot towels that followed was a must and also perfect. Our appetizers were delishious, spicy sashimi tuna, and beef carpaccio. Yes please. Dinner then came out, bone in filet, bone in ribeye, both cooked to a perfect warm red center.
