  • "With reservations we were seated immediately. From the bread basket to the desert our meal was one of the best we have had in a while. Our waiter was very attentive but not overly so. The shrimp I had was alittle over done but not enough to send it back. All in all it was very relaxing and enjoyable evening."

  • "We opted to stay and eat at the lounge area where there was live music. It was still romantic even with the moderate noise level by the bar. Our waiters were very conscientious...always topping off my wine glass (got a bottle of Malbec) and water. The food was to die for...hubby got the Kobe steak and I got the Chilean sea bass...we chose spinach and mushrooms for our sides. No carbs Lol. For dessert, we shared a crème brulee and got the bday chocolate cake. So yummy! It was such a blissful, romantic evening :)"

  • "First time visit to celebrate 4th July so the restaurant was quieter than usual. Service was great throughout. My guest's steak was overdone. Handled efficiently and courteously, we weren't charged for it. Cocktails were fabulous, tried the Lemon Drop and pomegranate martini. Served over dry ice so look spectacular. Portions are generous so two courses with sides might suffice for the average appetite. Tried the Wagyu strip. 8oz defeated me, but it was delicious. Recommend having it at most rare-medium to fully appreciate the flavour. Others had the 12oz bone-in filet (medium). MUST try the lobster mashed potatoes. We had to share dessert - don't go past the butter cake. Wine list extensive with many local choices. Expensive but worth it!"

  • "Chose Mastros to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. We were presented with 2 complimentary flutes of champaign to celebrate. The food was fantastic the porterhouse steak was the best I ever had in my life. Desert was also on the house. Service was great throughout. I highly recommend Mastros. I would say that the restroom attendant is unnecesary. Very old school and does not add to the dining experience."

  • "Really did not want to write a bad review, as I am typically a huge fan of Mastro's. However, my biggest complaint was that when my party was seated, the hostess took us to the outside patio area, without even really asking us (there were tables available inside). To make matters worse, she put us in the corner, where it was so tight and congested that we couldn't even get in without a significant struggle, which we tried to do while the hostess stood there, not even offering to help. Needless to say, we started off our night off a really sour note. Eventually we were able to get seated inside after complaining to our waiter. Complained to the waiter, who comp'd us a dessert, which was nice of him. Only reason I'm not giving 1 star."

  • "The filets were not prepared well and was sent back and the second filet was still incorrectly cooked. The New York Strip was too salty and too much gristle throughout the cut. The restaurant was extremely noisy--not energetic--and it was impossible to carry on conversation across the table. The serving staff was attentive."

  • "This was our first visit to Mastro's Steakhouse and it did not disappoint. I had the 22oz bone-in Rib-eye and it was fantastic. Cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. We also had the chilled crab legs, a wonderful taste and great quality. The bread basket was some of my favorites. I would highly recommend Mastro's for a good steak and will definitely be back."

  • "Made reservations on open table for our anniversary, they sat us in the bar. The bar was very loud, made it hard to hear each other over the music and party scene. The food was good, not great. I enjoyed the ahi appetizer and lobster mashed potatoes. I heard so many great things about this place, when we finally ate here it was just ok. I would like to note that our server was outstanding and the wine was poured generously."

  • "Arrival: I had a reservation for 8 PM, but still the ladies at the reception noted I had to wait, 40 minutes, I do not understand the purpose of the reservation though. The reception ladies had a very bad attitude, not pleasant to deal with them, made diminish the experience. Eating: At the table, the service was outstanding the food the same, could have not gotten any better waiter, it made the experience great."

  • "I almost walked out of Mastros because we were seated over half an hour after our reservation time. Once we were seated, the service was great but they need to work on their front desk service. The hostess stand is a mess. Also, I wish they would advertise that they only have valet service. Not everyone carries cash all of the time. Luckily, I had a money with me that night but I was never informed of the parking situation. Aside from all that,'the good was wonderful."

  • "The waiter did not inform us on the Seafood Tower as far as everything being A La Carte and showed up with like med. size so by the time we stated eating we barely could finish the seafood tower let alone eat our Dinner. Dinner We took home and it certainly did not taste the same next day. Also the rack of lamb was cooked perfect but no seasonings just plain and very FATTY... we were there to celebrate my wife's birthday and she really wanted the Buttercake but instead the waiter didn't ask us if we wanted any dessert he just brought over a slice of chocolate cake...Yes it was a very nice gesture but she really wanted the Buttercake. So all in all we didn't really enjoy spending $400.00 for dinner."

  • "I've been to other steakhouse establishments and I must say that Mastro's is truly overrated! The whole entry valet is inviting however the service is so like stressful just watching them! Our server talked a whole lot! and after her whole spiel about the steaks, it was hard to find her after even though she was right at the next table. The whole serving out portions is ridiculous. Just place the sides down and let us portion our own out. We were not even done with our appetizers when they came asking to remove our plates. The service was lousy. The shrimp was so rubbery! MBig disappointment, COLD cream corn! Ok Mastro's, been there done that and won't be back! Take some tips from RC!"

  • "Mastro's has incredibly high quality food (for an obviously premium price), and their service is the right combination of attentive without being bothersome. The atmosphere is catered towards intimate get togethers or celebrations (dimly lit, not overly loud, large tables, standard steakhouse stuff). I'd recommend the bone-in ribeye and the sauteed sea scallops and of course the buttercake for dessert."

  • "I took my father here for father's day and regretted it so much. The filet was horrible- it was very salty on some bites and tasteless on other bites. I came here before with a friend and really enjoyed it. So, I wanted to take my dad. However, we ended up getting taking half of our steaks home. These steaks ended up in the trash. All I can say is that I was very disappointed."

  • "I usually go to Fleming's, Fig and Olive, and Mastro's for dinner. The last experience of us in Mastro's was not good. As usual we ordered Oysters and shrimp for appetizer and steak for dinner. My steak was suppose to be medium rare. First of all it was totally rare and most of it was fat. I couldn't eat my dinner at all. My friend's steak was exactly like mine. He did not finish his steak too. I am very disappointed of this almost expensive restaurant. I think I am gonna go to other restaurants in future."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to Mastro's Steak House on our date night for the first time and we were not disappointed. The calamari was delicious, the steak was cooked perfectly, and they even give you the remainder of the coke bottle if you order a Jack & Coke. Very happy that we decided to check it out and will definitely be going back for a special occassion!"

  • "My husband and I decided to book our 6th year anniversary at Mastros Costa Mesa. Service was great. Our server was Joel, he was friendly and attentive to our needs. Only disapointment was that we got charged for something we didnt get, which was an ice tea. We only noticed it after we were in the car. We didnt check our bill since we had high regars for the place that they would be thorough. We didnt turn around since it was a hassle. Over all experience was great just make sure you double check your bill!!"

  • "My Wife and I went to Mastro's for our 44th Wedding Anniversary, the food was Probably the best we ever had. The service was just right, not to pushy, but there when you wanted them. We thought that it was a bit noisy. The only thing I did not like is that where we sat was not cozy, It was at a table with several tables in a row."

  • "We had excellent service in the bar for the drink we had before dinner. She was nice, described some special cocktails etc. I wish we had stayed in the bar. We had a reservations but we were seated at the table next to the bus station. There were at least 8 other tables available. We mentioned it to the hostess but didnt push so she didnt move us. I usually get good tables wherever I go. We are both dressed well, better than most in the restaurant. Our waiter tells us the specials and proceeds to talk down to us for the entire evening. He doesn't smile and he has a rude look on his face. He only checks back once or twice. I would consider this bad service anywhere but especially when you are spending $250-$300 dollars on dinner."
