  • "We took advantage of the Costa Mesa Restaurant Week and dined on a Monday night after work. Instead of being annoyed at the discounted prices, the staff was very attentive and energetic. Our server recommended the grilled shrimp appetizer and I have to say it was the best appetizers I've ever had. The meal was amazing; same quality of steak we would have received at full-price. To top off our amazing dinner, we were served individual warm butter cakes. It was a great meal and I will be back very soon!"

  • "We took advantage of Costa Mesa Restaurant week to dine here for the first time. Judging from the menu prices, this was an excellent deal. We have enough left over for two more dinners! The food was excellent and our server, Jesina (sp?) was very sweet and attentive. Unfortunately, her wait support staff were not so great. It took 10 minutes to just get water and I had to ask twice for our bread. And for some reason they kept trying to take our bread away which I thought was odd. My napkin was rolled up when I briefly left the table and stuck in the butter, which was an accident of course. But it took more than five minutes to have it replaced. For a restaurant of this caliber and prices I would expect much better service. Good, not great."

  • "The 4 of us had a lovely table & awesome food but we could not see each other or read the menu. We were literally in the dark back corner. There was 1 candle but no overhead lightning. We all had a challenge trying to order off the menu in the dark. Our server did scramble and returned with 2 more little candle lights which made quite a difference. Maybe this table was meant for the secret service?"

  • "The bone in fliet, rib eye, and lobster Mash was all pretty good. They will serve both of those steaks on a 400 degree plate to ensure it stays warm through the meal. It was my fiance b day. And they don't even offer any desert. We didn't want any but still the offer would of been nice. I mean it's pretty standard. We went to melting pot for just desert."

  • "I chose this restaurant because I have visited a few Mastro's and Oceano's in different states and had wonderful experiences. My father was celebrating his 80th birthday and I wanted to make sure he had an amazing dinner for such an important milestone. Mastro's didn't disappoint. As to be expected it was an early reservation and we arrived about 15 minutes early. We were seated promptly. Our waiter was excellent, the food was outstanding. The birthday cake that was presented to my father was fantastic and beyond expectations. I really appreciate the extra effort made for my father to make sure his birthday was memorable."

  • " An 8:45 reservation and had to wait 35 minutes . Was put in bar next to where live music was about to start at 9 ;00. OMG!!! Was disturbingly loud...that wasn't nice. 2 martinis $50!!!! Was not a good start. At least 35 minutes later we were seated. The frame at the bottom of the chair my husband was sitting on was broken. It was safe for the time being, but expected more attention to furniture in such a place. We did have a good server, thank goodness. There were other small issues not worth mentioning. Server did take off my caesar salad and comp. us dessert, which was a nice jesture. Just not our cup of tea. I know there are others who think it's fabulous."

  • "The restaurant is nicely divided up into smaller rooms which limit noise and chaos with very nice ambiance and decor. One downside is there appears to be no real individual booths. Staff from front door to waiters were all friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about menu items and nightly specials/recommendations. Food was generally very good to excellent. The menu is diverse and they have an impressive wine selection. However the large Sauteed Shrimp (served hot and unshelled as an added item to an entree) had a overcooked, rather mealy taste and the NY Strip was fairly tough and "chewy" on about 1/2 the length of the cut. The Filet Mignon on the other hand was excellent. Everything was excellently seasoned and cooked to perfection."

  • "Went there for my birthday but was disappointed on the wagyu steak I ordered, it was very fatty and lots tendons that made me hard to chew n swallow. And found a very small piece (green bean size) of bone with my steak and almost broke my teeth. My husband ordered Toma Hawk Steak and wasn't that tasty or as expected. We had better at Beverly Hills location. Also the service was slow, we got done with our meal but waited almost 20 mins for our waiter to come clean and pack our left over. In general, it wasn't worth for the money paid. This is the first time with such bad experience."

The filets were the best we've ever had and grilled to perfection. All the food was unbelievably good! Tis a quite pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. We will be making a return."

  • "Both this location and the Ocean Club in Laguna Beach have excellent food, and usually excellent service. The Mastros margarita is a favorite, as are the lobster mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, creamed spinach, and of course butter cake. Our only glitch on our recent visit came from requesting patio seating, on a perfect Fri evening. On Fri AM they called to confirm and we asked a second time to make sure it was still ok. We ask because the patio (at both locations) is much quieter and has nicer ambience than inside. When we arrived, the host took us to an inside table and when I asked, he brusquely said "the patio is closed" and walked away. We ultimately got patio seating but next to entrance even though only 1 other party on patio."

  • "We usually enjoy Mastros, particularly for their excellent Customer Service and attention. However, we were extremely disappointed this visit, with our server, John. He was unattentive, stoic and started off by saying, "since you've dined with us before, I won't go into any details". He came to our table once, to ask how the food was....and that was really all we saw of him, until we had to flag him down and ask for our check. Mastro's is our absolute favorite restaurant and I've recommended it many times to both friends and colleagues. This was my absolute WORST experience, due to the lack of service. I hope that this feedback makes it back to the Mastro's Management team."

The tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly and the prawns were so large and delicious. We dined on the outside patio, the weather was perfect.
