How about allowing that some diners like to feel they enjoyed conversation? Especially in this case where it was for a business meal. Service was stellar and the food was of highest quality in every way. One of us requested an item that was not on the menu and the chef graciously provided a special meal for her. The Bone-In Pork Chop with red cabbage and mashed potatoes was a perfect meal. The marinated pineapple flavor complimented the pork perfectly for a memorable dish that I will order again in teh future. The Friend Banana Split was fun and delicious. At first when I heard all the folks in the bar area - i thought that is was way too loud. But then the restaurant was much quieter and even when full - noise was not a problem. Wine selection is impressive, desserts are pretty good, even if not to die for :) From our experience - which is quire subjective - Le Mistral had desserts a bit better, while the food was on par or even better than that at the Le Mistral (Eldridge location). The staff treated us like royalty the entire night and we had one of our best meals ever here. The grilled calamari is outstanding with a light, beautiful sauce that we couldn't get enough of. I made a special request to be accomodated with prime seating & where they sat us was perfect for the evening & gift presentation I had planned. I arrived early & was attended to very well. Once my wife arrived, I asked if we could spend some time in the bar so that she could decompress from her very hectic day. It was not an issue. I had coat checked her anniversary gift & about halfway thru dinner, the waiter brought her gift at my request. The pace, ambience & graciousness of the staff was impeccable. When a member of the Mazraff's came to our table & introduced himself to us, that was a considerate gesture. The Bison Ribeye? He was prompt, made excellent recommendations and was great at knowing when to approach us/leave us alone. The food was just OK- Nothing stood out. The flavors were rather one note. They sounded complex but lacked a POP. We are foodies and have high standards however, when I go for a $48 brunch, I expect more (especially with a limited menu where the expectation is that they have totally mastered the dishes). We had an excellent experience all around.The pace was perfect. My wife and I were dining with another couple. They seated us promptly, got us our drinks and then let us sit and talk. After a while they offered us menus. The waiter had great suggestions without being pushy or selling. Everyone’s appetizers were excellent. In the right amount of time dinner came. I had the tuna, it was perfect and just the right amount. We all had deserts.We ended up spending several hours, sharing two bottles of fine red wine and full meals. The staff was there when we needed them, but didn’t rush us. The grilled scallops & tuna entree was superb -- sushi grade & just seared to enhance the pure quality flavor & texture; presentation was elegant and colorful. The crab salad (entree) was sumptuous & flavorful. Service was pleasant and attentive w/o being intrusive.
