Sharon, our server, did a great job...very knowledgable. The steak was delicious as was the lobster tail that accompanied it. The cheese board was just ok. The delmonico potatoes were absolutely spectacular as was the carrot cake for dessert. It was louder and less intimate than I expected for such a fine dining restaurant.

3 people ate here in October. all were very disappointed with their food. meat was tough, side portions were small and tasteless, scallops had grit in them, chocolate cake was cold and hard. only thing acceptable was the salad. we were expecting the same quality that is available in fine Chicago dining. no way. save your money .

The atmosphere was relaxed elegance. The service was good & drink selection was reasonably extensive, including an impressive wine list. The sides were very good (though if a dish called "smashed potatoes" would typically be expected to have a chunky texture rather than that attained with a ricer). However, the steak was good but not great. It had reasonable flavor, but the thickness of the strip allowed only one side to be Pittsburgh charred, and the steak was medium-rare at best. Also, the "au poivre" was only pepper-crusted, without the sauce to make it true au poivre, contrary to info from the waiter. My wife's petite filet was cooked exactly to her liking (very well but not dry) with decent bearnaise (though a bit heavy on tarragon).

I requested a special table for my husbands 70th Bday and we were put next to the noisy bar and kitchen, the hostess was too young to understand, our waiter kept apologizing for not being attentive to us because he was taking care of a big party. We waited for drinks, and then a very long time for coffee. Food was ok, not worth the prices. In SHARP contrast we went to Mr. B's last nite and everything was terrific; table, waitress, food quality. We have zero interest in returning to Mason Street Grill. They could have made it a special evening with a little effort, I was disappointed.

This was my second time with the same server. I believe her name is Kimberly and she is amazing! I usually order the same thing when I dine at lunch (blackened salmon chopped salad) but I tried the lobster seafood sandwich. The sandwich was just okay but the service and convenience of the location made it worth it. Anthony

In my estimation, if you want to extend an exemplary dining experience to family, friends and associates, Mason Street should head your list. Worth every penny!

The food was top notch. Bone in Ribeye, Lobster dinner were both excellent. This is a great place for a steak/seafood dinner downtown. We went for a date night and all expectations were met. The waitstaff did a great job, friendly, approached to make sure all is well, but not overbearing. The wine steward was knowledgeable and made a great recommendation and now we've discovered another great wine (J. Davies Cab blend). Ask for Laurus, he's a card and will help make the evening a success.

After spending 190.00 -expected top notch service, food - etc. Expectations were not met and I normally do not write these kind of reviews. I had higher expectations - wasn't greated by the host/hostess initally just kind of stood there - slipped on the worn down wood floor in the front, kind of thought when I went down someone would have said sorry about that - drinks are on us. Our waiter was nice - just didn't get the warm fuzzy feeling they were glad we were there

Very disappointing meal...waitress didn't ask about temp for veal chop, which was totally inedible...not just the overcooked aspect, but by the time my husband cut away the fat, there was no meat to taste...the special of the day was a filet with cheese, mushrooms and single scallop...no price was mentioned...that was an additional $21....our friend recommended the restaurant and she ordered the special, so we didn't make a fuss, so as to not embarrass her...they took veal chop off the bill, as they should have. We sat at the bar in the afternoon and enjoyed the drink and bartender, but would not recommend this as a place to dine...I will write to the management, however...

Mason Street Grill is a typical high end steakhouse. Service was very good and attentive. I had duck, my wife had a trio of sides (vegetarian) and my son had a steak. All were good, but the sides were our favorite. The only disappointment was dessert. The Panna cotta was way too firm, still tasty, but certainly not a traditional type with some jiggle.

The food was amazing - everything from the crab cake, my steak and mushrooms, the wine, etc. Everything tasted great and we didn't have to wait long. We had fun, and it was romantic. I was celebrating my promotion at work and was surprised with an amazing dessert at the end. Definitely coming back!

Mason Street Grill was able to provide a private room and had excellent follow up with us all the way to the day of the party.
