A word from Masa Southwest Bar and Grill
Masa Southwest Bar and Grill is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Just like it's location in Boston, Masa offers an award winning menu of "new Southwest" cuisine, pairing flavors and cooking styles of the Southwestern kitchen with local New England ingredients. They have been awarded "Best New Restaurant" by Food & Wine Magazine. Allison Arnet of the Boston Globe has acclaimed Masa, "A Southwestern Air of Sophistication." Matt Schafer of the Boston Herald has also acclaimed Aviles's food "Amazing." • "First trip to the Boston area, didn't want to drive far from hotel. Found Masa through Google, highly rated. It was better than expected and should have even higher ratings than it does. Loved the menu, great food, and the drinks were spot on."

  • "The southwestern cuisine is a little Mexican and a little good, ole, USA. The food tastes great and the tequila is plentiful."

  • "Creative and original items on menu. Dishes have wonderful blended flavors and are nicely proportioned. There are good reasons this restaurant is always crowded. On weekends you need to reserve in advance."

  • "Very good food, very good service, quiet because few guests there, pricey"

  • "Very tastytoo food, amazing tequila selection, small portions, salmon was circular in shape (why?), kitchen could not make salmon to order (gluten-free crust) as all salon was "prepped ahead of time." Made me wonder if I was eating frozen food, reheated. :("

  • "Great food and great service. This is a place I would go to again."

  • "We did Saturday Brunch. It was a little overrun with screaming children, which I thought was a little surprising considering they have a slightly more upscale/adult vibe. The omelettes were very good."

  • "Wonderful creative food , ambience warm, prices reasonable. Boston quality without boston traffic or prices. Good for meeting people who live in different parts of metro area because of ease of access. Just have to get past idea of fine dining in a Whole Foods mall."

  • "Met a friend for lunch. Nice atmosphere, good chips and salsa and great Roasted Squash salad. Would definitely return, maybe even for dinner sometime."

  • "Have not been here for dinner, though I'm sure it's lovely. Brunch is amazing!! We meet our friends here as often as we can. It's kid friendly - a group was behind us with several infants, but we were not disturbed at all - so good sound control. Really need to stop here for dinner one day!"

  • "We routinely bring interviews to Masa, and we have never had a bad experience. Creative and incredible menu, wonderful and attentive service and a great 'feel' to the dining room and bar. Best place in Woburn!"

  • "We had a great time at Masa on Saturday night. We were sat at a kind of strange table in the front of the dining room, but everything else about the night was fantastic. The service and food were top notch. We even checked in via yelp and received a free chips and salsa. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and plan on going back again soon."

  • "We were disappointed by if most recent visit to Masa. Everything was just a bit off....the food was decent but not as good as it used to be and the service was awkward. Both the host and our waitress could use more training in how to male their guests comfortable. While we'll return again, hoping for a more comfortable experience, it's no longer one of our must-eat-at places. It was also very loud!"

  • "We are regulars at Masa and decided to go for Valentine's dinner. While the food, service, and drinks are what we always expect and receive the ambience was not. We were seated at a very small table in the back that was so close to the diners next to us that we could hear every word they said to each other and they could hear every word we said. It was as if we were dining together. Instead of cramming in so many reservations Masa should have made the ambience more intimate. Our pregnant waitress had a hard time serving the tables with the way they were set up. We will return to Masa as always.....just never on Valentines Day."

  • "One of my close friends told about Masa and I've wanted to go for some time. I just regret not taking his advice to go sooner. The food was truly delicious, my wife and I had a wonderful experience, there very friendly staff was not overly attentive. There specialty drinks are quite adventurous so try one, and the Tequila selection is vast to say the least. Two thumbs way up to Masa!"

  • "I had heard many good things about MASA so I wanted to try it. We went on probably the worst day every (Valentines Day) the service was TERRIBLE. (bartender at the bar and the waiter was OK) and the food was OK. What i did enjoy were the drinks and the ambiance. It is somewhere I would go for a couple drinks with friends."

  • "I had made a reservation over a week before Valentine's Day. We had been to Masa before and we're quite pleased. This time they were far into the weeds by eight o'clock and by the size of the crowd waiting by the door and the bar it felt like their host staff had lost a grip on the situation hours ago. There were two front end managers and a hostess, along with what seemed to be enough waitstaff and bartenders. I think that between the online bookings and the phone Masa management overbooked the restaurant for Valentines Day, couldn't handle it all. The primary goal was ownership's and upper management's need to capitali$$$$e on the Valentines Day spend that ruled the evening here. I would go back, but not on a big potential profit evening."

  • "We first visited Masa in Boston a while back and revisited that location for last Easter brunch. When we moved to the north shore, we made coming to Masa Woburn a priority. The restaurant has a similar look and feel to the Boston location but is more spacious and quiet. The food is of equally great quality and the service was great. The lunch menu seems a little "thin" in choices but we easily found things that piqued our interest and will have us returning for more but we look forward to trying the dinner menu as well to see if there's a similar display of Chef's culinary art as there is in Boston. The bar area was equally as great as in Boston as well and there is a section in the back that would easily accommodate parties."

  • "Great Valentine's day menu. Lots of great choices, I think we licked our plates clean. The place was packed so we waited a little longer than usual but that was ok. The dinner and delicious drinks were worth it. The place has a cool vibe, I'd come back here again."

  • "We went to Masa in Woburn this past Saturday and it was great. We sat in the bar so we could order some tapas (very nice). Our server was good and the food was delicious. We have been to Masa in the past, but not for quite some time, and we will definitely return. The menu is creative, changes regularly and there was a nice selection. We will be back!"

  • "I've been to Masa in Boston but had no idea it was also in Woburn. Love to have great restaurants in the 'burbs! We snacked on apps all night rather than having traditional meals and just about everything was really tasty - squash apple soup, a unique salad and the shrimp tacos were excellent. Although good, I'd pass next time on the coconut curry(?) mussels. Drinks were delicious, especially the spicy watermelon margarita! Our waiter was excellent and although Masa doesn't have a printed gluten free menu, he knew what I could eat and what I couldn't. When in doubt he did not hesitate to find the answer immediately! My only quip - all of the portions were on the small side."

  • "Don't let that combo platter of tapas fool you. Can't beat the price surprisingly filling. Each tapas had a very unique taste. Absolutely delicious. If you order the Masa burger...request extra napkins, it was so juicy. YUM!"

  • "Dinner at Masa was good. Our server was excellent and her description of the onion rings as gargantuan was accurate. The appetizer of scallops with duck was tasty and the scallops were cooked properly. The salmon entree was good but didn't stand out. The flan was excellent. The only downside was we had a little trouble initially getting our water glasses refilled when the restaurant was full but they were promptly refilled thereafter. A good dinner and worth a second trip."

  • "My girlfriends and I tried to meet in Burlington, but all that was really offered were chains. I remembered Masa being right up the road and suggested here and it was a great spot for a girls night. The food and drinks were delicious. We ordered a couple apps for the table and each got an entree. I was very full afterwards, but could definitely see my fiance complaining about the portion sizes - they were a little small."

  • "Have been coming here for brunch for years now. Interesting brunch choices and now they offer a special on the weekends for $7.95 which cannot be beat."

  • "This is the 6th time at Masa in 2 years. We usually go for celebrations (little celebrations) because we rarely eat out just for kicks. We discovered the jalapeno-infused Tequila Margaritas here and have been making our own ever since. Can barely drink a regular ol' Margarita anymore. Any friends that we take to Masa always rave about it and go back on their own. Keep up the good work."

  • "Outstanding service, delightfully different dishes, interesting bar menu, perfectly subdued decorations. Tuna and steaks were cooked exactly as ordered, long cooked pork shoulder was simply divine. Plates were emptied all around. Service hit just the right tone - we enjoyed our conversation while being well taken care of. Will return to try brunch and regular menus."

  • "This is one of the better restaurants in our regular round of local dining establishments. The food is always excellent and the dark, savory sauces are particularly delicious. The friendly service always makes dining here an enjoyable experience."

  • "Our appetizers were good and I have heard good things about this restaurant's reputation. I feel compelled to comment on my entree, however. The chile relleno that I ordered for dinner was beyond disappointing. It was, simply put, horrible. It was a large, dry, rock hard, encrusted pepper in the middle of the plate. It tasted no better than it looked and I would hate for anyone else to order it without warning. I was with a group and we did not have time to send back a meal so we just chalked it up as a loss. I believe everyone else had satisfactory meals which is why I rated the food "good" though my meal warranted 1 star."

  • "The menu is imaginative, and our dishes were simply outstanding in their flavors. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, and the service was very good. The only flaw was the undrinkable tap water served to us; we were forced to buy bottled water."

  • "We fed a family of 4 people a gourmet brunch for under $40!!!! The food was absolutely delicious!!! Worth the trip! Casual atmosphere. The waitress was bubbly and accommodating. The Southwestern Avocado Eggs Benedict was to die for!!!! We will definitely be back for another enjoyable brunch!!! I have been there for delicious tapas as well. Great home brew selection at the bar! A gem of a place to eat!! GO!!!"

  • "Service was wonderful, very attentive. Unusual for a restaurant of this nature. Special drinks were excellent. Four of us at dinner. We each ordered from the FIRST COURSE menu as if it were a tapas bar. Worked out very well . Food was quite good. Good option for a restaurant near Burlington theaters."

  • "Went on a quiet Monday evening to celebrate a birthday. They seemed to be short a waiter, but there was no disruption in the quality of service I've come to expect from Masa. The food was expertly prepared, the portions were proper sized, and the cuisine was innovative. The highlight was a smoked pork shank in a BBQ pomegranate glaze. Sweet, smokey and spicy. The squash puree could have used a touch of heat (cayenne heat, not temperature heat) to balance the sweetness a bit, but that is really more an individual taste issue."
