A word from Masa - Naples
Masa is a contemporary homage to the tradition of Mexican cuisine. We just opened in Naples, but here are some nice words about our first Masa in Downtown Minneapolis:

Diner Reviews
  • "Mexican style food with an up-beat twist. I ordered the Enchilada de Pollo. A tasty presentation for both eyes and stomach. My friends had fish tacos which were also enjoyable. Decent house wine and competitive pricing. Service was a bit rushed but that was due to the crowd celebrating the semi-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup--soccer fever. Love their "living wall!" Great place for a pre- or post-movie dinner or girls' night out. Definitely will patronize again."

  • "Had a great meal at Masa. Met some family there with my two children and the experience was wonderful. The margaritas were perfect and half off during World Cup! Sam our waiter had an amazing personality and was so helpful finding the kids something they would eat. His attitude was positive and attentive through the meal! All 6 people loved their meal and apps!"

  • "Best Mexican food in Southwest FL. Very upscale modern Mexico City vibe and decor. Gourmet twists on traditional recipes. My new favorite place."

  • "I had wanted a special dinner for my birthday and remembered how great Masa was the first time we ate there. This time 1 year later we had the same waitress Amy -who remembered us and even where we sat! So that tells you how good the wait staff here is! The food as wonderful as ever and their special Marguaritas are a must! The hot Habanero one is outstanding. If their was anything bad about the meal-the fried Plantains could use some help! Thanks all for a great birthday!"

  • "Finally tried Masa for lunch. Weekday, off-season, and a rainy day. We arrived at 1:30, and the restaurant was pretty quiet. The two of us enjoyed the 2 entrees for $12. We each tried a different salad and entrée. Everything was delicious, the Blood Orange Margaritas were perfect, and our service was excellent. We will return on a weekend evening!"

  • "Extensive cocktail list. Very nice appetizers available. Limited menu by comparison to some.....but everything we ordered was excellent!"

  • "Dinner would have been perfect except that our waiter wasn't familiar with the menu. One of out guests asked several times if a dish was going to be spicy and he assured her it would not. (despite the fact that the sauce was made with habenaros) When the dish arrived it was very spicy and she returned it. When it reappeared they put the same sauce on the side. This made no sense since she couldn't eat the sauce at all. The dish without sauce was tasteless. It would have been better to have anything else."

  • "Service was truly outstanding... server knew his menu inside and out, and was quick to recommend his favorites, which were "spot on!" Margarita's though small, were incredible. The Calamari, was like butter in your mouth! Two minor issues, the entree menu was a little sparse but what we had (hanger steak and pork shoulder) was excellent, and the noise level was a distraction. We should've opted to eat outside, as being seated in the middle of the interior with those high ceilings, it was too noisy to carry on a conversation."

  • "Seems to me, Masa is designed for a fun experience with Mexican food that's in a different world than what you usually find, but not so aggressively different as to be off-putting. Our table of four shared a really nice, fresh, guacamole. Then my beloved had chicken tamales, I had a great pork shoulder with roasted pineapple and our two friends had hanger steak that was a lot more interesting than it sounded on the menu. Then desert -- the chocolate bread pudding with roasted banana ice creaminess delicious, the margarita sorbet was refreshing and the churros were the only no-hum note of the evening. As non-drinkers we really appreciated the refreshing alternative options (limeade with fresh ginger was delicious.) Service was good too."

  • "My husband's a Californian so he knows good Mexican food. He joins me in saying that the menu at Masa delivers that and more. It's innovative, but the dishes don't rely merely on being new and different: They're delicious, and that elusive quality of managing the spices so it's about the flavor as well as the heat? Nailed it. I like spice, but I've had enough of places where it seems they're using it as a weapon. AT Masa, it's what it shouold be: an enhancement. And if you don't try the chocolate bread pudding for dessert, you are missing out. It's THAT good."

  • "Although I rated it low we would give it one more try. We are making the assumption it was an off night. It was also a very slow night when we were there ( 8:00pm on a Monday). I think there were probably no more then 20 people in the whole restaurant. A place likes this needs more people & energy to create a a better atmosphere. One would expect the service to be excellent and prompt. It was not. Our waitress seemed pleasant but her interest in us seemed artificial and very staged. Not a pleasant interaction. "

  • "I took a friend to Masa for the first time, as she had never been, and I have been many times. The food was good, the service even better and the margaritas are very good. I had the Salmon and she had the 3 tacos and we shared a cerviche and it was terrific. Prices are reasonable, and a fun place to grab dinner and drinks before going out late. "

  • "The restaurant is nicely decorated, the staff is attentive. The food is 'unique' but average in quality... but the stickler is the price. Most expensive "average" meal I've had in many months."

  • "Had a great outside table and listened to the music and then the band. They did a great job with making the evening so festive and fun! Food and drinks were very affordable and delicious! Our server was so friendly and attended to all our needs."

  • "The atmosphere was great, very energetic but the food was not great. The guacamole was very bland with no seasoning or flavor and the food selections were just mediocre. Not real impressed for an upscale Mexican restaurant."

  • "Everything was outstanding. The sea scallops and also the enchiladas were terrific. Eating outside also afforded a lot of great people watching!"

  • "Our servor was very attentive, informative, and his professionalism and timing of our courses made our evening most enjoyable. Our food was good, appetizers excelled more than our entrees. Spices used were classic, however, one entree was overly spiced and difficult to enjoy. This was the snapper."

  • "Had dinner yesterday Thursday April 24. Mayan and Masa Margaritas; ceviche of the day (the fresh corn , capers, and herbs were delightful in the ceviche); 2 grilled hanger steak with aroz Mexicano, topped with fried tortilla strips and black chili oil; and a side of delicious Mexican street corn; along with complimentary tortilla chips served with salsa verde & salsa chile de arbol. Chips were fresh, light, and flakey. Enjoyed everything. Service was excellent. On a previous visit we had snapper Veracruz and Oaxacan shrimp followed by a tres leche cake. That was a very good dinner, but not quite as flavorful as dinner tonight. Try the Mayan margarita with a hint of anise, fantastico!"

  • "The hostess forgot to check me in and I received a ding e-mail from Open Table for being a no-show. When I called the restaurant, the person who answered the phone said she would check me in. Instead, she cancelled the reservation. When I called again, I finally spoke to Heinz, the manager, who said he would call me back once everything was resolved. I am still waiting for that phone call. I feel that the staff could improve on its customer service."

  • "We have had lunch and dinner at Massa several times over the last few months and have been pleased each time. Friendly and timely service, interesting Mexican food choices and the best Margarita I have ever had (the Massa Margarita). Looking forward to going back again and so far it has not been hard to get a reservation."

  • "I highly recommend this restaurant The food was absolutely delicious!"

  • "The food was very overpriced for the portions. Also, since it is a Mexican Contemporary, most of the food is in Spanish with a glossary of what it means in the back. In addition, when asking questions to the service about what exactly certain things were the feedback given wasn't very wonderful. The highlight of the restaurant was the margaritas, my whole party commented on how great they were, just too bad everything else was not."

  • "We have needed upscale, authentic Mexican restaurants along 41 in southwest Florida for a long time. This one does the job! Located in the upscale Mercato shopping plaza in Naples it blends in perfectly with the upscale, hip scene. The food is delicious. Our table had the tacos, steak, scallops, and shrimp. We would order any of those dishes again. We can't wait to go back and try something different. Margaritas were delicious as well. Restaurant is just energetic enough to be fun, but not so loud you can't have a conversation. Great service!"

  • "Food here is exceptionally good and nothing like the usual taco, burrito, tamale fare one usually gets in Mexican restaurants. This is gourmet food. The only downside for us was the noise level made conversation very difficult. Eat outside and try to find a place away from the piped in music "noise.""
