On a recent trip to Anchorage my husband and I wanted to try a new restaurant and he found the Marx Bros. Cafe in a magazine at the hotel. The staff were courteous and enthusiastic about their jobs. Everyone was friendly and the food was fantastic. Definitely make a reservation, regardless of the day of the week, for this place. The tableside Caesar salad was delicious too, if a little heavily dressed. I had the pheasant and it was very good, while maybe a little bit dry and the entire dish was on the heavy side, but still good. Desserts were satisfying (cheesecake was a little dry), Homemade ice cream was amazing. I give ambience a bit lower because there was a couple noisy diners, but thats not the restaurants fault, and it's a small room. Service was fantastic, and we were super happy with our experience! We were waited on by 5 staff members total, and our interactions with each one was very pleasant. The food was absolutely incredible. My husband is a chef, graduate from Le Cordon Bleu, so is very particular about his food. He said his steak was the best he's had in Alaska! We are looking forward to returning again for our next special occasion. I was disappointed that the macadamia crusted halibut wasn't on the menu. The Caesar salad was awesome as usual. I had the lambchops, friends had steak, scallops and the crabcake.
